No communication then debt collectors

I haven't received any correspondence from Ginger Energy since I moved into my property 3 years ago. In fact, I didn't even know they existed! It seems that all previous bills were sent to my old rental address which the management agency, should have, but failed, to update (despite multiple requests).

I have just received a hand delivered letter to tell me that my heating supply is being turned off due to me not paying my bills I am shocked that this has happened.

No effort has been made to try and get in touch any other way, even though I know the managing agent they work with holds these details.

Avoid at all costs!

Hi Nick, We rely on information given by managing agents or leaseholders to let us know who is occupying the apartments, if its not the leaseholder themselves. We do leave signs in communal areas too asking residents to register with us. Can you call in and let us know which development you live in, so we can ensure our posters are on the notice boards. Our agents visit sites where there is no payment received, in order to try and resolve these issues, hence the hand delivered letter asking for contact before the disconnection takes place.

Ginger Energy has truly outdone…

Ginger Energy has truly outdone themselves, and I must say, their unique approach to customer "care" deserves an award – if only there were accolades for turning bill payment into a game of memory and guesswork.

My adventure with Ginger Energy began with a throwback to the simpler times of July, when I paid my bill with the innocence of someone who thought transactions ended when the money left their account. But no, Ginger Energy, in their infinite wisdom, decided to revive the matter in October. Imagine my sheer joy at being asked to pay again, with the added excitement of a debt collection thriller twist. It's the kind of double-billing fun you don't often get to experience.

When I tried to resolve the issue, I had the pleasure of dealing with Chris from Utilidebt – a true maestro of customer service. He performed a spectacular piece entitled "Ignoring the Customer's Logic," making me almost nostalgic for the bygone days when companies used to send bills or notifications. Chris's talent for overlooking the fact that I received no such notification about the change in billing was simply breathtaking. Not many can carry the tune of threat and intimidation with such panache, promising to cut off my energy and grace my account with a £100 fine, in addition to the £60.2 encore performance fee.

In the end, under the spell of Ginger Energy's unique brand of intimidation, I found myself paying the £60.2 "just for funsies" fee to keep the lights on – because who doesn't enjoy a bit of unplanned generosity?

Let's give a slow clap for Ginger Energy, who has managed to transform mundane bill paying into a most thrilling high-stakes drama, complete with plot twists and unforgettable characters. I'm on the edge of my seat wondering what they'll think of next – but I'm hoping it doesn't involve a sequel.

unforgivable how bad their service is

This business has ripped me off on my energy, on the reviews below they blame the agent Centrick, which is complete rubbish, as centrick confirmed to me that Ginger manage the energy for centrick!

If I could leave 0 stars I would, they are extortionists

I have had to move out as the price they were charging was complete guesswork, their portal is horrendous and I am now in another apartment through another agent, who uses another provider and it is simple, easy to use and they are actually friendly!

Ginger energy are a billing agent. We are appointed by Centrick to bill energy that is owed to the building landlord. Non of the funds you pay go to Ginger Energy. They are received by Centrick and are passed onto the landlord.

Ofgem Investigation my bill was 4 times more than the price cap!!!

I’ve had to move out of my flat which is owned by E&J in Worcester because ginger have charged me 4 times the annual cost of the energy price cap amount of electricity!! I’ve spoken with EDF who finally confirmed that Ginger have inflated my prices so much they thought I was lying!

Someone here is taking massive commission and they are in bed with Centrick. Ofgem are aware of there operation and are actively INVESTIGATING

After being broached by numerous Company's all making promises of varying service levels and pricing, we elected to use Gingers Services, and have not been disappointed.

We've found their friendly, professional and knowledge of the market place invalubale in managing our Utilities.

Request for Water & Electricity Usage Report

I recently requested my electricity and water usage from GingerEnergy. Within 2 working days, they sent me a few descriptions and graph regarding my water & electricity usage. I was incredibly happy with the outcome as it showed me everything that I need and outlined explanations for each graph. This is important for me to know as I thought I was using a lot more electricity and water than before but it was just a change in price.
Overall, great customer service and structured, simple analysis given. In future reference, if they could have given me information on other metrics, it would be good. But I was still very happy as I got the expected outcome for what I asked for.

Avoid at all costs.

This company is one of the most unprofessional companies I have dealt with, from The outset they broke GDPR by sending my details to all residents in the block via email. Set ridiculous pricing and staff are extremely unprofessional and rude. Attempted to strike fear by threatening legal action when the communication error was theirs, no apology was made.

Now having to move out of my apartment as the electricity is simply to expensive.
I have received a bill for December of over £1000 and a bill for January for £800 plus, due to these doubling the tariff to over 0.70 per unit.
Two bedroom apartment in bridge water house, Worcester.
I’m not living in a mansion.
How they can tie residents into a contract that is beyond the governments capped amount is honestly beyond.

I recently moved into my one bedroom

I recently moved into my one bedroom, one bathroom apartment. I have received ridiculously high bills that i just can't afford. I understand that energy bills have risen but the amount that is being charged has to be incorrect. Over £450 a month in electric bills will only trap a tenant in debt. The bills are causing people to leave properties that are being managed by ginger energy due to the bills and poor communication.

I would also like to know what the electric company is that ginger energy uses?? They keep saying they only provide the invoices but do not state who the electric company is, why are we not able to go to them directly???

If i knew about ginger energy before i moved into my apartment, i would have never chosen this apartment. I got a quote from another electric company that was charging under £100 a month, NO WHERE near what ginger energy has been charging, but were being forced to stay with this company? It is not fair. The only 5 star reviews i am seeing are business owners who this does not affect!

Me and my brother live in a 2 bedroom…

Me and my brother live in a 2 bedroom apartment in Birmingham and originally we were paying 150 pound a month for electricity and then all of a sudden they slapped us with a big bill after another until it got to 300 , this month my brother was away on holiday and I was for about one and a half week at my parents for Christmas and after having one of the most purposely cautious months quess what because it is ...... 500 pounds . I am gonna leave it there , let's hope they making mistakes or I am gonna have to start printing money .

I have been waiting for my tenants final water bill.

I have been waiting for my tenants water bill which has not been sent for the last 6 months. the tenant has now moved out without paying the water bills. I have contacted Ginger several times now each time they say it will be out end of the week. customer service has really gone down hill.

Poor service and practice standards

This provider works on behalf of their client, usually a large landlord, I note most of the positive reviews are from the landlords.
This company is unprofessional, has no understanding of GDPR or contracts and cannot complete simple requests. Unfortunately, they are unregulated and therefore it makes it difficult to follow a process such as a complaint to the ombudsman.

The positive reviews are from our Clients. Conversely, the negative ones come from residents, unhappy at being charged for energy.

Your claims that we have no understanding of GDPR are simply untrue. As it’s been explained on many occasions to residents, we are appointed as a billing agent to compliantly invoice residents who are charged for energy by the landlord. The landlord has a duty to produce invoices to final customers under regulation, and as a result we hold their customer data under legitimate interest.

Just avoid this irresponsible energy …

Just avoid this irresponsible energy provider. There is no one in Ginger to response emails or followup issues on bills. They have overcharged based on mistakes in manual reading and never try to clarify or explain what happened on our bills. Due to its situation we couldn't use 400£ governmental support on our bills in Broadway. We couldn't change this awful provider because they are in a close connection to Centric! Worst customer services and rude manners in respinsing to tenants. I hope one day this company get improved and compensate their mistakes. Every where I will say just avoid this horrible company.

Despite multiple communications on this matter, you seem unable to understand that we are a billing agent not an energy supplier.

The landlord supplies your power, not us. This is why you can’t change supplier. It is nothing to do with us or Centrick, rather the building you choose to live in’s infrastruture.

The £400 that you speak of is a government fund which has yet to be given out by them so cannot be passed onto you. Neither us or landlord or us are responsible for that. Therefore your frustrations perhaps should aimed at the regulator not ourselves.

With regard to our lack of service to you, our call return time is typically less than 48 hours at the most busy times. However, if you are raising the same issues that we have already responded to or have sent communications out about, the call- back time may be longer because we prioritise other residents who need our help.

If you feel you still don’t understand our communications or have unanswered questions please call back in and a member of the team will try to assist.

We are here to produce accurate bills and if you believe the reading taken is incorrect please send us an alternative reading and we will investigate further.

Finally I’m sorry that our many communications are not being received or understood by you. I will look at what we can do more to educate residents on their energy arrangements and the parties involved.

As soon as we hear from OFGEM about how the £400 is to be distributed, we will write another communication updating residents.
