I wouldn't advise ordering from their website unless you are wanting a bike for yourself and are in no hurry for it to arrive. I ordered my bike from discount bicycles on 14th August, the money left my account on the 16th. I was confused that there was no confirmation email but then realized upon looking on their website some more that they don't send confirmation emails just emails informing of dispatch. After a week however I started to worry because the website says average delivery 4 days which I thought was from the date of purchase, the reality is that its an average of 4 days from date of dispatch but this isn't all that clear upon initial reading of the website. Anyway after around 20 days since I made the order I had heard nothing at all so I rang the number on their website, A very polite man spoke to me saying that the bike that I ordered had only just come into stock and that I would receive an email that day to confirm dispatch however no email came. I left it a few days and rang up again (Monday) and spoke to a different man who again was very polite, he told me that one of his colleagues had emailed me on the Friday and that my bike was due to arrive on Friday the 16th September. I informed him that the email never reached me and he said he would resend the email - it never appeared. Anyway I then had a poorly guinea pig and totally forgot about the bike for a few days with being preoccupied by vets visits, then on the Friday morning I suddenly remembered my bike was supposedly due to arrive that day but I still knew nothing so I rang again and when I told them I wasn't receiving any emails from them they txt me the tracking number for my bike which actually was out for delivery due to arrive that day! I couldn't believe it, after seeing other reviews on here I thought my bike would never arrive. The main problem I encountered with this purchase wasn't with discount bicycles, who clearly aren't the most efficient or professional when it comes to keeping you informed but were very helpful when communicating via telephone. The BIG issue was with the courier, unfortunately discount bicycles chose to use YODEL who are unreliable at the best of times, I had the usual yodel experience of having someone wait in the house all day for the courier to never turn up, with the tracking saying that delivery had been attempted and a calling card left when in actual fact they just hadn't bothered to attempt to deliver. I then had to rearrange delivery and have someone wait in the house for the whole of another day, luckily though it did turn up this time, well packaged and undamaged. So 1 month and 3 days after making the order I did finally get my bike, luckily I didn't need it in a hurry so waiting wasn't a major issue, it just would have been nice if they inform you on the website that they have to order in your bike after you place your order with them, I would have been a lot less worried if I knew from the start to expect to wait so long, but its worth it for the amount of money I saved

3. If you ask for a refund, they'll keep a 50-60£ for "warehouse fees"

You are welcome to file a complaint on actionfraud.police uk. They must be stopped.

Ordered a bike trailer 3 weeks ago. Phoned to obtain a delivery date - was told 'next Monday' Order didn't arrive... Now emails to the company are being bounced back and their contact phone number isn't working (voice mailbox full)
I've now requested a section 75 chargeback via my card issuer. Avoid...

Bought a bike for my sons birthday.

Waited all day for a bike which never materialised. having read other reviews I am inclined to believe it is a scam and I will raise a dispute with AMEX. Do not waste your time or money with these people.

We ordered a Burley Bee bike trailer online, it said 4 day delivery but you will be contacted if this is not possible, fair enough. So we ordered it on a Thursday evening, hoping to have it for the following week. There was no email confirmation after the order and by Saturday I phoned, spoke to Henry who took another email address and said he would send me the email confirmation that afternoon himself.... Countless phone calls and emails and still no email confirmation and delivery date, Henry gave dates it might turn up but nothing in writing. Eventually we just said cancel the order, we'll buy it somewhere else, Henry became very rude on the phone, we were told we would have to accept the order and either return it in store or we'd be charged £60 to send it back!! We then received a first email from discount bicycles, (8 days after the order was made online) stating a delivery date of the following Wednesday, 13 days after the original order. The trailer never turned up on this date so I can only assume our order was cancelled. If we had just had an email in the first place and an explanation of why the order was delayed or what was happening then fine but we had to keep chasing to only encounter a rude member of staff.

We have since ordered elsewhere and got it within 48hours!! This is good customer service. We thought we would try supporting a local business but no, don't bother.

Ordered a Raleigh bicycle for my Grandsons birthday online.
Given a delivery date before the said birthday.....DID'NT TURN UP.
Given another date 5 days later...... DID'NT TURN UP AGAIN.
Had several conversations with someone from the Company who just was'nt genuine.Talk about treating the customer like an idiot!!!
Mate I am ex security services, I know when somebody is leading me up the garden path.
Found out that Raleigh had sold out of the particular cycle I had ordered and were'nt supplying any more until June/July.
Which implies to me that they sold me an item that they were unable to supply to me, or at least not until the above dates.
Asked for refund, did'nt get a response.....Good job I paid by Paypal, had to take it to their resolution Centre......which of course I won.
WELL DONE PAYPAL.
BOTTOM LINE DONT FALL FOR IT. IDONT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE LIKE FACE TO FACE, BUT DO NOT DEAL ONLINE!!!!!!!!!

I was given good service, my experience was good Staff were able to repair my in time and I Will recommend Discount bike Shop to any bike rider I know,

19th February. I ordered a gents cycle (Raleigh) online & paid with PayPal.
I received a confirmation email to say it would be dispatched within 5 working days.
26th Feb. I telephoned & was told it would be dispatched 3rd or 4th March.
4th March I emailed to ask where the bike was, but did not receive a reply.
10th March I telephoned again & was told it would be dispatched 15th March & I should have received an email informing me of that. I told him I had not received the email & he told me that he would re-send the email, he did not.
11th March I did receive an email saying I would receive the bike on 17th March between 8 & 5 so anyone working would need to take the whole day off. It did arrive just before 5pm
The bike was well packaged & my husband was able to put it together very easily.
It seems the company does have a problem getting bikes ordered online to customers quickly, which they need to address. Mine took almost 28 days.

I used the Deptford shop and would really recommend this company to others. The staff were very friendly and helpful and I was able to buy a very good condition second hand racing bicycle for a good price.

I have used this shop for a year or so now and have always received a good service. I recently asked for a service on my bike and after quickly checking it, i was advised that i only needed a cheaper service. The service was fantastic and i never feel they are trying to 'up sell' to get more money out of me.

Overall very friendly staff, quick turnaround on repairs/maintenance and a good service.

Ordered a bike on line for my 6 year old for Christmas was told del usually within 7 days so I expected it on the 14 th dec at the latest. Website said all orders guaranteed for Christmas delivery! Phoned as not received several times reassured would be there before Christmas GUARNTEED! Utter rubbish on Xmas eve I phoned at 11 am to be told it was coming on the 29/12/15. The person I spoke to Henry was patronising and tried to tell me how to break the news to my child about her main pressie not arriving in time for Christmas!! I asked for a refund this was declined! I was told If I rejected the order I would be charged £60 admin fee. This company is rude I was upset and he put me on silent and wouldn't talk to me and kept blaming the courier for the delay!! When the bike arrived the frame was chipped and the basket at the front was misshaped. This company is rubbish be warned don't buy on line from here or you will be disappointed !!

Claimed my money via paypal could not deliver Ibicycle lights as descrided on web page.

There's no info about opening times on the company's website, so first I had to call them to ask what are the opening hours of the shop... The very kind thing was that they told me they will stay keeping their shop open waiting for me as I needed to make a purchase & it was almost already closing time then when I wanted to come. And they were open when I finally came despite of after closure time of their shop which was really great help for me. I also receive good advices & customer care have been nice & helpful for me. However the stock available in the shop is unfortunately quite poor. Overall summarizing it is good to have this type of specialist shop locally. Thank you.

I ordered some items but then needed to cancel as I had mistakenly ordered the wrong things for my cycling wife.
I emailed them within a couple hours to request a cancellation.
No reply.
I waited a few days and then emailed again with a further cancellation request
No reply.
I waited a little longer and then raised a paypal query.
No reply.
I waited some more then rung them. Spoke to a guy who didn't really know what I was on about but said he would refund the order immediately.
No refund.
I then emailed again
No reply.
I then escalated to a paypal claim
No reply.
Paypal refunded my money.
Still no reply.

Therefore a terrible review. Maybe they are good at repairing cycles if you 'pop in' but honestly they don't seem to be any good at all dealing with online sales. They probably shouldn't be even offering online sales if they cannot be bothered replying to emails / cancellation requests / order amendments / paypal queries / paypal disputes.

Judging by the reviews I am not the only one... They don't seem to be listening to the customers here...

I wouldn't dream of dealing with them again and whilst I live in scotland I do have plenty of cycling freinds in London and I am afraid to say I cannot recommend them at all. In fact I would probably be quite scathing when the subject of 'where can I get my bike repaired' comes up in conversation or 'where can I buy some cycling stuff'

The prices aren't even THAT good. Better pay a few pounds more to actually get some service rather than talking to a brick wall.

Sort it out, Discount Bicycles - you must want your business to flourish?

Rang to speak to a member of staff before ordering my items on the 24th August to check if they had them in stock and if I'd get them by the Friday of that week. Staff member said they were in their warehouse and I should get them by Friday after they receive them in store on the Wednesday. Never received a despatch notification so on the Friday (28th) I rang to see if they had a tracking number. It was then I was informed that there must have been an error in communication and that I wouldn't receive them until the following week. A little unhappy I took that on the chin and gave them a new address to deliver the goods to as I would no longer be at the original address. It's now the 8th September and I've still received not so much as an email from them. Called and spoke to the Sales Manager to cancel my order and get a refund and he told me I would have to pay for the shipping costs for an item I haven't received as the website states they take 2-4 weeks to arrive. When I repeatedly said that I was specifically told on more than one occasion they had them in stock and was promised prompt delivery he kept refering to the website lead time of 2-4 weeks an intimated that I could quite easily say I had called and told I would get them earlier but there was no proof of this conversation. When I asked to speak to the MD he said there wasn't one!!! He then told me that I should learn to listen and stop talking as I obviously liked the sound of my own voice. He openly admitted that the company would much rather the customer made a loss and that there was no way I could get a full refund on something I've never received. Absolutely shocking customer service.

i had a puncture yesterday morning on my way to work in Bermondsey. I walked all the way up to new cross, and the one shop that was open was Discount Bikes. The guy replaced the tube in about 5 minutes flat and got me on my way. He saw I was distressed and made me a cup of tea to calm my nerves. This was really good fast friendly service.

Took an old hybrid for a service (Gold service - their most extensive service). They did a great job, it runs smoothly now. Thanks

I had a full Gold service done on my bike. It needed of a lot of work and Henry and his team did a great job. My bike has never ridden better. I can strongly recommend Discount Bicycles.
