Message as a former UK production partner.
As a former UK production partner for Xometry, I completed more than 100 jobs for the company. The arrangement initially worked well, but the experience deteriorated after Xometry introduced an overly restrictive shipping policy. Collections were arranged by date only, with no time window, meaning I could be expected to wait around all day. As a small business with other work commitments, this was simply not practical.
I proposed a reasonable alternative: allowing me to drop orders off at the courier’s collection points when necessary. This would have avoided delays and made the process more workable. However, the suggestion was flatly refused by the senior production manager at the Chelmsford office. In my experience, she was unhelpful, dismissive, and at times rude, which made an already difficult process even more frustrating.
This was disappointing because the production work itself was worthwhile, and I enjoyed the challenge of making some of the more complex parts. However, the lack of flexibility and poor communication made the partnership increasingly difficult to continue.
Although I have given Xometry a one-star rating, I would still say the platform may suit someone with a small print farm, provided they can accommodate the strict collection requirements. However, anyone considering working with Xometry should be fully aware of these rigid shipping rules and the potential lack of support if issues arise.
I have now decided to close my partner account because I cannot reliably commit to waiting all day for collections with no confirmed time slot, and I do not want that uncertainty to affect customer orders.
In my view, Xometry needs to improve its logistics process and show a greater willingness to work constructively with production partners. If these issues were addressed, I would be open to producing work for them again in the future.

We completely understand how collection dates without a fixed time window can be difficult to manage. Today, our shipping process allows partners, once the required documents have been uploaded and Xometry shipping labels have been generated, to either wait for the courier or drop the shipment off at a courier collection point. The parts simply need to be packed and labelled with the Xometry shipping labels so they can be tracked correctly throughout the logistics process.
We’re sorry to hear that this was your experience with our team’s communication. No partner should feel unheard when raising a concern, and we want every interaction with our team to feel supportive. Feedback like yours helps us keep improving how we support our partners.
