Made the effort to go to the Primrose…
Made the effort to go to the Primrose Hill store in person to view the outdoor tiles. Chose what I wanted and the man who served me said he would send me a quote. I never heard from him again, despite providing my email, phone number and address. I had told him the job was booked for 3 weeks time so it was urgent. Very disappointing, lazy service and on this basis I would not recommend Mandarin Stone.

This is most unusual to hear, as we have never received a complaint of this nature before. Our showrooms generally respond to all enquiries and quotation requests within 24 hours. We completely understand how frustrating it must have been, especially after making the effort to visit our Primrose Hill showroom in person and with your project on a tight timescale.

Terrible customer service
Terrible customer service. There was a misunderstanding from my side when exporting tiles to Norway which led to custom problems. In dialog with Mandarin Stone i felt like they did everything they could to be as difficult as possible. There was no understanding from their side and no help to get. I ended up taking the cost myself of double UK VAT (in addition to Norwegian VAT) due to this mess. Will never buy anything here again and will certainly not reccommend anyone else doning so either.

We understand that there was confusion regarding the export of your order to Norway. As the order was placed online using a UK postcode and delivery details within the UK, it was processed as a standard UK order and UK VAT was applied accordingly.
For orders being exported outside the UK, we have a dedicated Export Team who manage these transactions from the outset to ensure the correct documentation, shipping arrangements, and VAT treatment are in place. Unfortunately, as we were not made aware that the goods were ultimately intended for export to Norway until after the order had been processed, we were unable to handle the transaction under our export procedures.
We appreciate that this situation resulted in unexpected costs and frustration. However, the VAT treatment applied was based on the information provided at the time the order was placed, and once the goods had been supplied as a UK domestic sale, we were unable to retrospectively alter the transaction.
Whilst we regret that we could not provide the outcome you were seeking, we did review the matter and explain the options available based on the circumstances and applicable tax requirements.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are sorry that this misunderstanding has left you with a negative impression of our business and hope you are pleased with your completed project.

I've visited the Cardiff showroom several times over the past few weeks whilst selecting tiles for multiple bathrooms within a client's home renovation project.
Zoe has been absolutely fantastic throughout the process. From helping me narrow down options in the showroom, to arranging samples and liaising with both myself and the technical team via email, she has been incredibly helpful, knowledgeable and responsive.
Part way through the project we needed to revisit one of the tile specifications as the client wasn't entirely comfortable with the slip rating. While Zoe was away, Michelle stepped in and was equally helpful, assisting us in finding an excellent alternative that satisfied both the client and contractor without compromising the overall design.
The level of customer service from the Cardiff team has been exceptional throughout. Nothing has felt like too much trouble, and it's been a pleasure working with such a knowledgeable and supportive team. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Mandarin Stone to homeowners, contractors and fellow interior designers alike.

A Bitter Sweet Experience. Shame.
We were very happy with the service we received from Sam and Amy at the Marlow branch, and placed substantial orders for a mixture of wall tiles and floor tiles, both stone and ceramic. For one order, with a value in excess of £4200, we were told that to guarantee delivery before 2pm we were required to pay a surcharge of £18.50. We pushed back on this as it seemed quite petty given the value of the order and previous business, and this surcharge was eventually waived when it was dealt with by Amy, rather the a more senior member of staff.
The same order was delivered with 8 broken stone tiles, which I asked to be replaced, only to be told that as we were given 0.8m2 `free` that this amount would be deducted from the replacement tiles. I pushed back against this as well and it was eventually agreed with the more senior member of staff that 8 tiles would be sent as replacements.
Yesterday we received only 7 tiles. I was told today that the total amount was equal to the 8 tiles that were broken, again by the same senior member of staff.
Do I believe this explanation? No.
The experiences with this more senior member of staff was petty, by her quibbling over relatively minor sums and failing to replace the correct number of broken tiles.
The upshot? For the sake of quibbling over £18.50 and failing to supply the correct number of broken tiles, we will not be buying from Mandarin Stone anymore and we won`t be recommending them either, which is a shame, but with staff like that why would we wish to repeat the experience?

We are sorry, however, that you were disappointed with the handling of the damaged tiles.
To clarify the circumstances, your order was delivered by our own fleet on 28th May. Whilst a guaranteed AM delivery slot normally carries an additional charge, we upgraded your delivery to an AM service as a gesture of goodwill and ensured it was delivered within the requested timeframe.
Following delivery, you reported eight damaged slabs. Upon reviewing the photographs provided, we discussed the possibility of using some of the material as cuts elsewhere in the project and offered a refund for any unusable pieces. We also explained that your order had been supplied with an additional 0.8m² of material free of charge, specifically to help account for any potential breakages or cutting requirements.
When replacement material was requested, we arranged this promptly. The quantity supplied was calculated based on the amount of material reported as damaged, less the additional free material that had already been included with the original order. As a result, seven slabs were delivered, representing the equivalent square meterage required to replace the damaged tiles.
We appreciate that you may not agree with this approach, but the replacement quantity supplied was in line with the amount of material reported as damaged and ensured that no shortfall existed within the order.
Whilst we regret that you remain dissatisfied, we are pleased that the issue was addressed quickly, and that replacement material was supplied to support the completion of your project. We value your feedback and thank you for taking the time to share your experience.

Wonderful, helpful staff and beautiful tiles
Our whole experience with Mandarin Stone, from when we first looked at the tiles in the shop in Bath to when we collected them from the warehouse in Monmouth was excellent. Staff at both locations couldn't have been more friendly or helpful and really took time to help us make sure we'd got the tiles and grout we wanted. The tiles are beautiful, and were good value for money too, but for us, it's the service that really marks Mandarin Stone out.

We visited the Wilmslow showroom for our bathroom
We visited the Wilmslow showroom for the first time to browse for our bathroom renovation and we were very impressed with our visit. The staff members were really welcoming and Mandy helped us choose the right tiles for our project. There is a wide range of options to choose from. The process of ordering was very smooth and we can’t wait to see how the tiles will look once the project is finished.

Super helpful staff and great service
I found some amazing tiles at Mandarin Stone, really unusual and individual. Almost as soon as I had placed my order I changed it. I had an online chat with a real person, and arranged the new order. The refund from the change was sent through within a couple of days. A change in my bathroom design required more tiles to be sourced within the builder’s timeframe. I called the head office for help, they were great but the delivery schedule didn’t work so as plan B I called various showrooms and was able to get display samples from the Chelsea and Bath stores. The staff in both shops were wonderful and did all they could to help me out. In the end I got enough tiles and my bathroom looks great. All the Mandarin Stone staff I dealt with were knowledgeable and helpful, the whole company has real commitment to customer service.
I wish I had another bathroom so I could use Mandarin Stone again.
