Every year 123 Reg takes my money even though I have shut down my website, tried repeatedly to close down hosting and to turn off auto renew. It is impossible to reach their customer service. They have taken hundreds of pounds from my account and this must stop.

Recently bought domain but it wasn’t clear that I needed to purchase 2 years to get the first year cheaper so paid full price, very disappointing, CS said there wasn’t anything they could do.

Generally speaking, 123Reg is good, it's affordable and offers a variety of plans and products for small businesses.

But I've had nothing but trouble using my mailbox via both Apple Mail and G-Mail to handle the server. Apple Mail forgets the authentication information despite installing the profile from 123Reg's website onto multiple devices and Gmail doesn't notify me of new emails as they come through. I've checked and rechecked notification settings, turned on background app refresh and ensured notifications are prioritised, but I still don't receive push notifications from my business email with 123Reg.

I’ve not been happy with 123reg, I use domain and hosting for emails and their email server is slow and buggy and today it decides to stop working, it kept asking me for my password when trying to send emails despite entering it 16 times and resetting the password I couldn’t use email as it refused to connect to the email servers at 123reg so I’ve transferred it to a better provider that I’ve had zero issues with elsewhere. I’ve had 123reg in the past and in no uncertain terms would I ever willingly choose 123reg as I’ve hosted websites before in the past and they deleted my website files and said they didn’t have a backup so I lost the whole website before. I’ll be glad when the transfer out of 123reg is through as their service is diabolical and that’s an understatement

Many years with 123reg who have now changed some settings and the Agent Franklin told me the problem was a general issue with emails, but this is incorrect. Refused to help me with putting correct settings into my POP3 account

123 reg is a really reliable and customer friendly company. Whenever i have needed to resolve an issue I can pick up the phone and talk to a competent individual after only a few minutes wait. I have ALWAYS found their staff supportive, however small my issue is.

Spoke to one of their chat agents (Alec) about an issue I was having with a client website.

He clearly didn't want to help, was rude, unprofessional and cocky.

Due to this service i've just purchased hosting etc with SiteGround and i'm moving all of my websites to them.

So thanks Alec, for helping me see the light.

Sure your boss will look forward to reading this attribution to me leaving 123Reg after a number of years due to your sterling efforts.

Do not let these people have your card details - they are crooks. 3 months ago I was persuaded to take out a five year hosting package under the claim it would save me money. Today I discovered that they’ve helped themselves to a further £100+ without any prior notice under the guise of a 12 month renewal of something I’m supposed to have renewed for 5 years, 3 months ago. Very clever in that they fo guys at the weekend when no one’s available on their phone lines. Sadly I am locked into fhus for 5 years but hoping my credit card company can stop the scam. Do not trust this company - I wax pressured into giving them £500 plus - there are no clear instructions how to use their products - they bonbard uih with geek speak and rob your money. Sadly they took over my previous provider so I was forced into being their customer. Avoid like the plague and don’t let them have any financial details - they will fleece you

POST SCRIPT - so I rang them Monday morning - fair do’s they acknowledged u should not have been charged and said it was because while being moved to a new hosting package the old one hadn’t been cancelled. I was told the site was now transferred to new hosting so old one would be cancelled and full refund paid. All good - except - within minutes my site was down and all files and access had disappeared. I rang immediately to be told it was their mistake- it would take 24 hours to rectify but they’d try to fast track. That was four days ago - so no site - no access to all of our intellectual property stored in the hosting - no info or updates from 123- reg.

POST POST SCRIPT - After a further call to the Tech team, they acknowledged the issue hadn’t been actioned and worked hard to get me back up and running with regular updates. I’ve also had contact from the CEO’s office with some recompense for which we are grateful. So I can’t fault the eventual actions though it’s frustrating that you have to kick up a fuss to get things sorted - it also revealed some internal technical issues that really could have been avoided - but hats off to 123, they did sort things eventually and were generous and gracious in doing so.

I wrote a review a few weeks ago. Charging me 3 months early for SSL.

Finally the 123 Reg Office of the CEO got in touch and apologised for failings etc. and claimed they got it wrong…
Why then have I just received an email saying that my SSL CERTIFICATE will expire in 10 days?!

When will this poor service end. 123 Reg knows that it expires in February 2026.

I have spent too much time on this. Please sort it!

Send me renewal requests yet have no record of my email address/domain accounts or password details and I find it impossible to get hold of them to solve it. Seem able to take money but not respond

I've always avoided GoDaddy like the plague because of the poor reviews for their support so when I was informed that TSOHost was transferring my account with them to 123-Reg (who are owned by GoDaddy) my heart sank.

Our websites have been hosted on their servers for less then 12 months and I can't take any more. Inconsistent and poor support and the final straw was when one 'support' representative told me it was my job to configure the DNS settings on the server. I'm a web developer, not web server support, thats their job.

When I pushed them further the person on the support chat admitted they didn't know how to configure them. I was going to wait until Christmas before I jumped ship but I decided I couldn't wait that long.

I signed up with another company called Clook and they have been really helpful and within less than 24 hours of signing up with them everything is up and running properly.

I had a message on my Wordpress website that the PHP needed updating. I can use Wordpress but I am certainly not technical person, so I needed expert help. I spoke to Felix at 123reg, who was extremely helpful and resolved my problem very quickly! I was both very relieved and grateful for his help. Definitely a 5 star service!

The company manages the day-to-day problems very well - but we rely on them for emails - and repeatedly get emails returned due to their shared mail server being 'rate limited due to IP reputation' which they acknowledge but refuse to address.
They recommend switching to a different mail server which they sell at a cost which isn't economically viable for us. This is an ongoing problem - not a one-off.

123Reg took over the provider I was with for many years. Was shocked at how expensive it was at my first renewal with 123Reg, silly fees and additional things required I’ve not needed to pay for before. The prices you see are not what you pay, expect VAT and fees on top.

Like others have mentioned, it’s incredibly hard to transfer away so I had to renew to avoid losing my domains before the deadline.

Absolutely appalling customer "service", one minor request and they didn't even look for a way to do it just fobbed me off with a copy and paste excuse. Useless will never use again, 0 stars if possible. Go to someone who has some customer service in place

We had a website for a few years then closed it, didn’t renew the domain!!!!!
Since then EVERY day I get around 7 emails telling me to renew.
I don’t want to renew it’s been cancelled, stop harassing me to pay to renew 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
