Would reconsider and go elsewhere. Plenty of other cheaper options with fantastic customer support.

I really liked iwantmyname when I signed up. They seemed small, independent, likeable, and have let my domains sit there for a while.

I was looking around for cheaper options, and in wanting to save some money at the moment, I want to move away from them.

This is when you see the true colours of a company.

If I set my domains to auto-renew or turn it off, it works perfectly. However, I now want to unlock my domains to transfer, and to my surprise, it flags an unhelpful "error" message. Meaning I have no idea why it's happening. Therefore, I cannot unlock my domains, no idea why, and customer support aren't helpful at all. They said they would forward this to the tech team, but surely this is part of running a registrar business. Options on the control panel should work, and an error should be flagged and fixed.

I don't recommend signing up to them. You're in for expensive renewals in the future, and if you even want to leave them, good luck! Would just avoid altogether.

I can't seem to log in to my account. I have the username and password, but don't know where the 2-step verification is going to.

IWantMyName has to be one of the worst, if not the worst domain provider I have ever worked with. It has taken weeks to resolve a basic login issue after a former staff member left, we have provided countless pieces of evidence each time and have been left waiting for days if not weeks each time for a reply. There are so many other domain options please don't use this one.

I am client at iwantmyname since 2016 without any problems, smooth and easy handling. Safe and no brainer beside the normal phishing attempts you ll get always on any domainserver. Good, professional and secure.

I emailed for help, and they not only helped to explain what my domain issue/problem was, but they also fixed it themselves.

Nag!Nag!Nag! I first received notice that my domain registration would be ending in 42 days. Within a week I started receiving multiple emails about renewing. Even after I renewed (a month early just to end the nag emails) I still received numerous nag emails. For almost 2 weeks in early September 2025! Next year I will be looking for a new vendor!!!

Despite responding to my last review and promising to contact me... They didn't.... Shocker

So in the end had to get my bank to do a charge back from the money they took from me.

Great service from iwantmyname. Very easily to choose and setup a domain name with their website. Step by step and then you own your own domain name for you website. I highly recommend to anyone.

Extremely slow customer service. Their website makes it look like they are based in New Zealand but they are not. I have reached out multiple times over the last 6 days and have not heard from them in 5 days. Issue is still unresolved and urgent.

The process of purchasing the domain and configuring the appropriate DNS entries was smooth and intuitive.

I've been using iwantmyname for many years and have always appreciated the service. Recently, I missed a renewal reminder because my account was still linked to an old email I no longer check regularly. Unfortunately, reminders weren’t sent to my secondary email, so I didn’t realise my domain had expired until I logged in—thinking the renewal was due at the end of August (was July).

Totally fair to say this was mostly on me, and I’ve now updated my account to use an active email.
That said, a simple SMS, something like “Your account is expiring in 15 days, just checking you got the email reminder”. Would’ve been a great backup.
If you're a longtime user like me, make sure your primary email is current to avoid missing important notices. iwantmyname continues to be my go-to, and I’m not planning to switch anytime soon.

Quick, clear, helpful response to my issue

Was great before the pandemic. Then they started raising prices every year after COVID was over. They need to let customers know that they’ll be auto-charged a full month before domains are set to expire - not good if you’re planning on discontinuing service.

I want to share my experience with the IWantMyName support team. I was overcharged, but when I emailed them for help, their response was very fast, and they quickly resolved the problem. I’m very happy with their service. Unlike others who take a long time or sometimes never reply, I felt safe and confident using their support. Thank you so much!
