Permanently banned without reason
I used GoCar on and off when I moved to Ireland as I didn't really need my own car. The cars and availability was OK. The cars run, but are often dirty, warning lights flashing, and on one car I used a few times the clutch seems very worn. Booking often have to happen few days in advance and the process of unlocking the car can be troublesome. Had to call customer service to unlock more than once.
My situation changed and I needed my own car, so I stopped using GoCar. One day I needed a car while mine was at the mechanics and the app said I needed to update my drivers license photos. I updated my photos and assumed it was because I had changes to my drivers license recently. Was able to get my car back from the mechanics anyway, so no issues. I waited and waited, but my license wasn't accepted. Recently I needed a van to move a bigger item. I messaged customer service to get the issue sorted. They told me my account was under review due to an incident on a trip. I asked how long the investigation would go on as I uploaded my pictures a year ago at this point. I asked if I could assist any way and what the incident was about. They then message me back and said I was permanently banned due to breach of their terms. I asked what terms as I don't know what terms I breached. Only one I can think of is brining a pet in the car a few times. Their terms said it was allowed if you had a carrier, while on booking page it says no pets (which is confusing in itself). The customer service reps refuse to tell me what I'm banned for.
For this last trip I ended up using Yuko and the experience was so much better. The locking/unlocking experience was so smooth and the car was in very good condition. Wish I just went with Yuko right away.

Absolutely LOVED this hassle-free way of hiring a car to suit our needs. Used it 3 times. Vehicles were relatively late model and in good condition. Will definitely be using this service next time again!!

Very good service. Hired a van for 1.5hrs and everything worked seamlessly. Van clean but a bit grubby but to be expected . Would definitely use the service again.
Easy, reasonably priced, convenient
Absolutely LOVED this hassle-free way of hiring a car to suit our needs (and pocket!). Used it 3 days running while on a family visit to Ireland. Excellent and immediate customer service when I wasn’t sure how the gas replenishment worked. Vehicles were relatively late model and in good nick. Will definitely be using this service next time we are in Ireland!!

Please avoid this company. I rented a Honda car from them for 3 days. The car was dirty in and out, total payment with insurance was RM500+.
The worst was my return car experience. I took the car from KLIA 1 and returned to KLIA2. I unformed their support about it and I asked how much I need to pay extra for the wrong terminal.
The support team with no name told me at least RM178. I was ready to pay this amount or even more and fly. However they told me that noone knows how much penalty I need to pay as their financial team will calculate this amount during 3 days. As I do not want to pay unspecified amount I decided to get back from my airline gate to the car and drive it between terminals. Lucky my flight was delayed. However when I arrived to KLIA1 all parking places designated to GoCar were block by a Hertz car. I spent another 20-30 minutes to move the blocking car as they insisted that I need to return their car exactly at the parking where I took it 3 days ago.. These additional 20 minutes time was enough for me to miss my flight so I needed to pay for another flight and pay for one night hotel at the airport. Awful service. Avoid avoid avoid ...

My Taxi was 28 mins late making me late for work this morning, no apology from driver and no sense of urgency at all. And to be charged £9.90 for a 8 min journey is nothing short of day light robbery.
If the driver had to wait for me at any point I would be charged extra, so what about when you flip that so when your driver is late that the customer gets it discounted? as your not providing the service they are paying A LOT of money for!!

I had an extremely disappointing and frustrating experience with GoCar recently in Ireland. I have been using the service for a while, I'm travelling for work from abroad and every so often need a car to reach rural areas.
This time however, I was left stranded in the middle of Waterford city. I booked and paid for my car through the App but the car never arrived to the base. Customer service was terrible, reluctant even to try to sort out the problem, I was told they only start tracking cars when they go "missing", so it turned out my car was somewhere else, two hours away. No solution, no alternative, no back-up car, no compensation etc was offered at all, I was told that this is it, nothing can be done. I was stranded in the city where I don't live, took me over 3 hours to get home to my Irish "base" and most importantly it was far too late to sort out a car for a very early start of next morning's work - the very reason I needed a car in the first place. Consequently I lost a full day work, and everyone working freelance would understand what this means. I made phone calls to GoCar, I wrote a complaint letter in their "Request" section - received no response whatsoever. I have been given a €25 credit on the App, which is an insult really, taking it for granted that I will keep using this company!? The €25 didn't even cover my evening journey home on that day. So, unless you don't necessarily have to get to anywhere with your car, you can't rely on GoCar. If you use it for important journeys that actually have to be realised as planned, think again and keep away from these people.

Please share this as far as possible so last night our van was broken into and our equipment for my camp was stollen the stuff that was stolen was for children with additional needs AAC devices witch are used to help children communicate tat can not speak one of the devices is my beautiful daughters who is Autistic non verbal an eletric walker for a child who struggles to walk a bubble tube 2 ipads again used for communication a projector used for sensory input a fog machine bubble machine and more this equiptment is very very important to the children tat use our camps as this helps them to participate in regular activities i am broken hearted to say that one of my children tat attend could not attend today as we did not have an extra walker the van was parked in the lidl complex in ballycullen if anyone is offered any of this equiptment plz contact me or tallaght garda station i beg whoever done this to have a heart and leave the equipment back to lidl no questions will be asked and plz share this as fare as possible 💔💔💔💔💔💔
Update GO-Car also wanna charge me €2,000 access to cover the damages this will have a massive impact on our camps as they are ran on funding from families it is a not for profit im just heartbroken this has happened

unhelpful customer service and not working car
We have booked a GoCargo in Dundalk, arrived at the parking lot, and unsuccessfully tried to unlock the car a few times. We called a very unhelpful customer service that couldn’t unlock the car either and moreover they didn’t find a solution to accompany us with any replacement car.
They even had a difficulty checking if there are any other available cars in the system as they referred us to the app. After a few arguments it turned out that it’s actually possible to check from their side any available slots. As customer service they failed to provide any help and we were left without a car even though they work with Europcar, so probably a solution could be found.
Very unpleasant experience. We do not recommend go car.

Here is my story. I decided to try GoCar, so I downloaded the GoCar app and filled all the details. I photographed my driving license and made selfie of myself with the license card next to my face.
Guess what happened next? For four days in a row I receive emails from GoCar asking to upload the photos of my license and my selfie, as they are "not clear". So I did it again and again but now my patience is over! The GoCar attitude looks as a sheer mocking to me. Because you really can't make poor quality photos with the high resolution camera three times in a row. The help line of GoCar is not possible to reach and you can't reply to those emails and find out what is wrong with your photos. So I give up and wish GoCar all the worst!

“Go” to another hire company
Organised to pick up a Go Van from Tesco, Holywell, Swords. On arrival I was greeted with a dirty, damaged van. It really looked like it hadn’t been looked after.
The interior unfortunately wasn’t much better, with stained seats and grubby loading area. The radio didn’t work either.
I drove 12km to Oldtown, Co.Dublin, problem free. After loading the van (took 30 minutes), I jumped back in the drivers seat, however the van would not start. I contacted their customer service team, where I was told that I could be waiting some time for assistance.
Turns out the battery was flat.
Once I got it going again, an hour behind schedule, a low oil warning light popped up on the dashboard. Again, having discussed the issue with their customer service team, I was instructed to drive it to the nearest Circle K and purchase “oil” on the fuel card. It needed diesel anyway, so I drove the opposite direction again for 12-14km, which I was charged for.
Having discussed with their customer service what oil the van required, I was first told that they didn’t have a clue, followed by what was in the service book, which suggested i took it to the main dealer and then I was told that any synthetic oil will do. I purchased the any synthetic oil will do, paying cash as their fuel card will not accept oil. Having topped it up, I managed to proceed with my now hour and a half late journey, with extra mileage and extra cost.
I requested if I could speak to a manager, to discuss the issues including the rental cost. One week on, I haven’t had a reply and I have not been reimbursed in any way.

Yesterday my friend Diego and I spent 1 hour because after doing all the steps to end the trip my car didn’t lock. I called emergency number (which answer 30 later after many robots). A guy didn’t really know what to do, so he told us to keep the key and lock the car and call first hour in the morning. Guess! Many robots swapping numbers, anyone answer and still have the key. So bad costumer service, I will never never repeat again with them.
Don't understand the bad reviews
GREAT SERVICE ALL AROUND. Had a rental from Knock Airport, no issues with the car, apart from I pressed the open button a bit earlier than I should have, but customer services were very friendly and sorted it out very quickly! Car was in perfect condition, when I go back I'll be using them again.

Hired a gocar for 7.30 this morning but the car is not starting.
Believe it or not there is no one available on the helpline until 9am even though the website and the app say the helpline is open at 8am.
Have missed all my appointments and sitting here for another 30 minutes, after already waiting a hour, before I can even speak to anyone.

My account was associated to my friend account, she called to resolve the situation, so each of us could manage the payment method and the booking from separate accounts.
The customer service proceeded as requested, removing me as second driver from my account. Suddenly my personal account disappeared. I've contacted again the cs and the agent had no clue about what happened and where my account was. This is a shame, they don't have an internal tool to keep trace of the cases and they provide no info at all. The first time I called to unblock my account another agent almost hung up without saying bye or let me finish explain the matter.
So very bad experience, still don't know what happen to my account :) Thanks for the amazing experience guys.
GoCar cancelled my trip
Used GoCar to visit relations in Ireland during covid to good effect, albeit the car was dirty on pick-up, but was cheaper at £350, with other rental firms asking £800+ at that time. However after booking up with GoCar again for a 2023 visit, I've just been informed, literally three days before flying, that my vehicle has gone in for repair and my booking subsequently cancelled and money refunded. There has been no attempt to source me a replacement vehicle, which leaves me having to source another vehicle myself, so close to the holiday! This is just not good enough and not very professional, as our holiday relies so much on a car to get about Ireland visiting relatives and although I received one email saying that they had tried to call me to arrange a replacement vehicle, I have so far not received any such call, but instead received three more emails less than an hour later, cancelling the trip with a full refund and stating "enjoy your trip"! On trying to get a quote for another vehicle with GoCar, I was quoted 350 euros (approx £300). However every cloud has a silver lining and I managed to source a cheaper vehicle from 'Budget' rentals, direct from the airport at a cost of only £213, for the same 5 day period.
Hired an Explore Car
Hired an Explore Car, Hyundai Kona. On collection the car was filthy dirty & smelly inside (wet dog had been on back seat). Outside was damaged in a few places, most noticeable was the bumper. After a while what I thought was my getting use to the car, was in fact something very wrong with the car, constant feeling of going over speed bumps and the sound of propellers in the car. A loud clanking noise every time moving from being stationery. After arriving at my first stop destination I called them to request a replacement car..informing them it was not safe to drive and I feared it would break down or cause an accident. Lady could not help as it was a bank holiday..called back the next day..
I was absolutely horrified that having explained that I did not want drive the car as it felt so unsafe to drive - and that I had my 2 children with me along with a car full of luggage, they wanted me to drive it to a garage to get sorted.
I point blank refused, absolutely baffled that they could not send a replacement car - which they claimed they had none.
After being on hold for what felt like forever they eventually told me they found a small Clio car I could use but I needed to drive the 25kms to collect it - yes drive the unsafe/unroadworthy car they new was dangerous, with my 2 children in.
On collection of the small cramped Clio - City car - it hardly seemed surprising that it was filthy dirty with food, grass and mud. Spare tyre was on the car..which obviously accounted for the Tyre Pressure Warning Sign that flashed up when I turned on the ignition - Inflate Tyres. I decided I could not face trying to call GoCar support again about this & sorted the issue myself.
A very stressful two days at the start of what was 6 day hire.
Their telephone number did not work when I tried to call for assistance when ending my trip - the app had not registered my return base being different to the ‘new’ collection base.
Unlike the dirtbags that did not take any care or consideration for the next driver by leaving the cars clean, I made sure I did as it’s so disheartening collecting a car to find it laden with someone else’s filth.
I wished I had just spent an hour longer on the bus to get to the airport to hire a proper road worthy car.
