A first for me, it was great fun. We did the Eye of the Sun God escape hunt at the Reading centre on Friday and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Friendly, approachable staff, Roisin giving us a friendly greeting on arrival and Kate guiding us through the hunt. Can highly recommend.

Very enjoyable would do with my work again - Ella was a gracious hostess.

It was fab great experience and great fun. Robin was brilliant and gave us just enough help to keep it fun and a sense of achievement!

We didn’t have a great experience here, the room was way too difficult, the lighting was really bad and the sound was difficult to hear, I asked for a revisit but they just offered 20% discount

A great company to do escape rooms with! I’ve been to 2 different locations, 1 in Essex and 1 in Watford. Staff are super friendly in both venues. I’ve used this company to do a total of 4 different escape rooms and never had any issues or problems.

Me and a party of 4 arrived for the VR and found out that we can only go 2 at a time when on the website it says 2-4. As we start, the first headset wasn’t working and we had some issues and by the time it was done loading we had already used a quarter of our time. Also the headphones weren’t working which to be honest makes the whole point of the virtual reality experience pointless and makes the entire experience feel much more dull.
This along with the fact that trying to find out what to do is really difficult as you are in a virtual reality game and you don’t know what you can interact with so this makes it very difficult to know what you are meant to do, made the entire experience not enjoyable and simply boring. The headsets also gave me a really itchy head which made it more difficult to immerse my self in the experience. When me and my friend finished our experience we shared to our other friends who hadn’t gone yet how there was no headphones that worked and they wanted to not do their game. Despite not having even started it they still didn’t get refunded for their game. This whole experience came for the price of 108 £!!!!

My friends and I went for one of our birthdays to do the Aladdin escape room and we had such an amazing time we decided on the spot to do another one. We did the Black beard's treasure room and it was even better than the first! The lovely lady working by herself that day (I believe her name was Maddy) was so helpful and interactive, doing a pirate voice to make the experience even better! Will definitely be going back!

The team was pleasant, though we basically just walked in and said we were the next ones—which was weird as there was no one at the main desk. They were perfectly good gamemasters, though.

The escape room itself was beyond disappointing, having done many over the last couple of years - we invited the family to experience it for the first time and had to apologise afterwards. The experience was dark and not well thought out; the clues were either none nonexistent or misleading, plain poor or boring, with extra things dotted around that weren't needed or acted as Red Herrings - the odd one in an escape room is understandable, but even with all this wasted time with two people that have never experienced an escape room, we were out in just over 30 minutes.

The fixtures were cheap, the cable was unplugged on some things, and only one room existed. Even though we wanted to come back and give them the benefit of the doubt to try a different room. Having seen the reviews for the other rooms on here, I'm not likely to give this another go , given how expensive it is and how poor it is compared to others.

For added context, we did another with the other side of the family in Colchester the day before. It was a temporary Christmas one - it was ten times better, with more clues, puzzles, locks, colour puzzles and generally well-thought-out with multiple rooms.

We made it out of that one in around 50 minutes with the 'usual' group we've done many with, and with two beginners, this one took just over 30 with mostly fake clues.

I’ve done Escape Hunt rooms in Brisbane, London and at the original location in Norwich. Did the Atlantis room at the new location in Norwich today. Awful experience. It didn’t help having 3 different games masters. The main problem was a puzzle involving pressing a series of buttons to light lights on the other side of the room. We worked out immediately that we needed to get from C1 to D5 but when we tried different combinations of buttons the lights weren’t lighting. This was bad enough but when we asked for a clue we were told repeatedly “get from C1 to D5” - even when we said we knew that. This ended up wasting about 10 minutes of time. Eventually we were given the correct sequence - too fast. We had to ask for it 3 more times. Towards the end of the game it felt like clues were being released too quickly just to get us out. We asked the final GM how to solve the light puzzle and the answer was “trial and error” - which would have been fine if the lights had been working properly.
This was one of the worst rooms I’ve played - between us we’ve played around 170 rooms and we all agreed - awful.

Having done a lot of escape rooms over the years, sadly Escape Hunt are the worst. I’ve been to both lakeside and Oxford and they both have the same issues - broken puzzles which you spend time on only to be told about afterwards, things falling apart, puzzles not working properly and the rooms don’t flow or make much sense. At lakeside we were rushed out and didn’t even get offered a photo. We did complain and got a voucher to go back but not sure we will. I truly believe the issues are because it is a chain and lacks the passion and care which an independent escape room has. For the price you pay you’d expect the rooms to be well kept but sadly they aren’t. Massive disappointment.

Two of us played Eye of the Sun God in Bristol - it was our first time doing an escape room so we needed a lot of nudging to get into the puzzling mindset, but we really enjoyed ourselves even though we didn't quite make it out. Our host, Luna, was great, really helpful and friendly and the puzzles were intriguing.

Call me old skool but I prefer to get answers from someone face to face or someone at the other end of the phone.
As professional as those who I have been corresponding with via email were STUWART (hope I spelt his name correctly) was very helpful, funny and calm. The service was professional and he is a credit to the company.

Thanks to Jack at Kingston for all your help for my first escape room. A fun experience with my children.

We did the outdoor Vampire hunters hunt. Loads of fun, and we got to meet Ethan Hawke as a bonus! Nice to have a quick drink beforehand and thanks to the team!

This was my first escape room experience. I did it with my 9yo son who was very excited and chose the "Finest Hour "experience. I wish the level of difficulty had been advertised on the website like some other places do. What should have been a bonding experience for us, ended up in total frustration. I found it so difficult. I understand they want to keep in line with the theme of the experience and have an accent when giving clues but we couldn't hear a damn thing, especially over the background sound effects. Not even halfway through, I just sat on the floor and waited for the time to finish. I found it incredibly frustrating. What should have been a bonding experience for my son and I ended with us just wanting to get the heck out of there and I left with tears in my eyes from sheer frustration at feeling like the most stupid person on the planet and utter disappointment that for £60 I hated it. If you have never done an escape room before, I suggest you don't start with The Finest Hour unless you're highly intelligent.

The venue itself was nice though and really well set out. There are mini wooden puzzle games to play in the waiting area which were fun and props to take pictures with. The staff were really friendly and helpful and also took some photos of us with some props at the end.

I have been advised that Alice in Puzzleland and the Blackbeard's Treasure experience are less difficult so will try one of those next time.

10/10 - much more fun than I had anticipated. Thanks to all the staff but especially Freddie, Prudence and Riyaz
