I am only writing this review now because it has taken me this long to find the strength to revisit the painful memory of how we were treated.
In October 2024, I brought my dog to Vets Now at 3:00 a.m. She had been crying and restless all night. I knew deep down that something was seriously wrong with her, and the insurance vet I spoke with during back-to-back consultations overnight agreed entirely. They also knew something was wrong with her, which is why they explicitly advised me to go to an emergency vet to get her medication.
Instead of receiving help or compassion, I was met with an emergency vet who dismissively claimed my dog’s issues were just "behavioural" and told me I was being "excessively emotional". The consultation ended with the vet literally storming out of the room. She prescribed absolutely nothing to help my suffering dog, yet I was still charged £300 for the privilege of being insulted.
Tragically, I lost my dog a couple of months later to Histiocytic sarcoma (cancer). She had good days and bad days after that night, but she never recovered.
To be dismissed so cruelly when looking for emergency help is unforgivable. Both I and the insurance vet knew she was in distress, yet Vets Now treated me with utter contempt during one of the most stressful nights of my life. I want to make that clear to anyone considering bringing their pet here.

Process to be seen by a VET was easy and straightforward at what was a very stressful time. Staff were very friendly, calm, patient and understanding.

Rang about my dog, was met with a very polite young lady who went through the dogs name, uou name, address blah blah then to be asked about what's wrong, all the way up to the its £380 just to see your dog plus A an B an C this is cashing in on animals misfortune. Clearly out for the money more than the animals. U derived gdpr you do not have my concent to retain my details, very angry .

Used their emergency overnight services. Was not clear at all on pricing. Charged £30 to deal with the insurance company even though I ended up chasing them for the payment. The vet industry is a joke and I look forward to the guv forcing them to be upfront about pricing.

I can not thank these guys enough for saving my boys life in that time of need. So thorough and kept communicating with us. They looked after him and us and made him comfortable following his treatment. Our boy did pass a couple of days later however how we wanted him to and no distress. Couldn’t recommend highly enough.

The service was good and the vet we saw was excellent, my only grip is the extortionate charges. It was Sunday morning and £325 when there's a vet on site, not including any medication is excessive. Thankfully we have insurance, which covered 80 percent of the £420

I had to take my dog who had collapsed, with a serious heart murmer/failure. The vet was very kind and gentle. She explained what was happening and we had to leave my dog there overnight. She managed to stabalise my dog and get her on the right meds. We took her home the next day. So very grateful for the kindness and knowledge that gave us more time with our youngest family member. Ive spoken to them a couple of times over the phone and they always show kindness and reassurance. So so grateful

Their team saw my 8yo lurcher right away after she developed what was later diagnosed as severe pancreatitis. She was quickly given pain relief and anti nausea medication after a brief examination. Possible causes of illness were discussed and we were offered further testing and admission for fluids / further pain relief, but as it was 5am we decided to wait until our usual vet opened at 8am. The staff were kind and patient, and we felt fully in control of our girl's care during our visit. The clinic was calm, quiet and clean which was a relief as our dog is generally quite anxious. The cost of her visit was a bit pricey, however given it was an out of hours emergency that's totally understandable (and fortunately we have insurance so reclaimed the cost). Can't thank the team enough for supporting our girl until she could see her own vet!

Brought my cat to out of hours ‘vet’s now’. The vet we saw was absolutely wonderful. Even though I paid £367 for a consultation, anti sickness and some lactulose, I was just happy he was ok.
Unfortunately she hadn’t put the lid on tightly enough so the lactulose leaked in my handbag. When I called to let them know and to see if I could pick some more up they wanted an additional £23 for approximately 5ml of the stuff. And they wanted proof that the lid wasn’t on tightly enough. My proof wasn’t enough.
I was then told I didn’t need to have an attitude. This wasn’t an attitude, it was upset and frustration. My cat had been extremely ill and I had already paid a ridiculous amount of money in the first place. After this I just felt there’s no real duty of care. Just pound signs.
It’s lactulose.. the exact same as what we have just for triple the price for a tiny 5ml dose.

Staff were incredibly good- I was seen as soon as I arrived and within minutes treatment was underway for my cat. Diogo (I think I have his name right!) was professional and realistic about my cat’s chances and kept me informed about what was happening- as did the vet who took over from him. Couldn’t praise them highly enough

Very helpful and patient when my dog was feeling under the weather on a weekend. The vet was reassuring and explained everything to me very clearly, and they looked after my pup with great care. They even sent me a little video to show me how he was doing along the way :)

I am writing this to issue a severe warning to any pet owner considering Vets Now. Our beautiful Pierre, a cherished member of our family for nearly 10 years, was euthanised at the Cheltenham branch over the Easter bank holiday.
Before the procedure, we signed a formal consent form specifically requesting a lock of his hair and a paw print for a planned memorial tattoo. Despite this being a written instruction on a legal document, the clinic failed to take them due to what they admitted in writing was a 'human communication error.' Pierre was cremated before we were told. They permanently and irreversibly robbed us of our only opportunity to have a physical keepsake of our boy.
While their initial mistake was heartbreaking, their behavior since has been utterly abhorrent. They originally tried to brush us off with a insulting £100 'goodwill' gesture (a tiny fraction of our £1,882.59 bill). When we refused to accept that as a fair resolution for a permanent loss, Vets Now completely cut off all communication. They have ignored repeated emails from us.
Worse still, we escalated this case to the Veterinary Client Mediation Service (VCMS). The mediation service has officially confirmed to us that Vets Now has refused to respond to a single attempt at contact from them either.
They admitted their negligence to us in writing, but rather than face the music or engage in an independent process, they have chosen to hide, ignore the mediator, and leave a grieving family with absolutely nothing. This is a callous, corporate machine completely devoid of compassion or professional ethics. Do not trust them with your pets, and do not trust them with your final wishes.
Please note: While our initial experience was with the Cheltenham branch of Vets Now, this review should be considered more widely for any branch of this business nationwide, given the complaint was handled by head office and demonstrates the appalling lack of professionalism by this company.
