Outstanding Legal Support from Semera Bibi

Website claims 5 stars but Google/TP have many 1 star reviews
This firm have repeatedly apologised for poor communication but only respond to my emails when I leave them reviews (and they prioritise dishonest responses to my reviews over wrapping up my case.)
They rushed me to transfer money for imminent property transfer then ceased to communicate. I’ve had about 4 handovers as people keep leaving. The current paralegal & conveyencer are never available when I call and I have had one response to an email since 2024 (despite emailing at least monthly.)
Emails I sent in good faith (on 10th February, 26th March, 9th, 14th, and 16th April, and again on 22nd May) were ignored. I also called on several occasions and was told I’d receive a call back that never came. After a Google review they replied to (with a different version of events to the evidence) they then called to apologise and I was happy to update my review as they promised regular updates... haven't heard from them for months.
If you want a transaction done, do not go to this firm. They do not seem to care about their clients at all.
They had an email go out about fraudulent payment requests last October when I sent my money and haven’t been responsive since so I am super concerned and will have to have my bank investigate. Would advise anyone to stay well away and find a conveyancer that doesn't pressure you to send money then ignore you once they have it :(

We’re sorry that you remain unhappy. As explained previously, the current delay sits with a third-party lawyer while a Land Registry application is pending. We continue to chase proactively, but until that external step is concluded your transaction is, unfortunately, affected. This is out of our hands until HMLR process this.
For accuracy: the suggestion that you have received only one email since 2024 is not correct. We have kept you updated, responded to the emails you listed, and provided a full written timeline of actions taken. We also spoke with you in June and offered to chase the matter and provide you with updates weekly; you advised at that time that this was not necessary. If you would now prefer weekly chasers, we will implement that immediately and copy you into each one.
Regarding the email about fraudulent payment requests: this is a standard client-safety alert we send to protect clients from scammers. It is not related to any issue with your funds, which are held in our regulated client account in accordance with the SRA Accounts Rules. We can provide a statement of account and confirmation of receipt at any time on request.
If you wish, we can also treat this review as a formal complaint. To date, we have not received a formal complaint from you; if you would like us to proceed, we will open a complaint file, acknowledge it directly, and investigate under our internal procedure so you receive a full and fair response. (If, after our final response, you remain dissatisfied, you may refer the matter to the Legal Ombudsman.)

Avoid Versus Law at all costs
We had a terrible experience with Versus Law. We approached them in the September 2020 to process 2 probates, one will to help with paying beneficiaries and change land registry details on a property. It took 2 years for one of the probates to be completed. It then took another 3 years for the beneficiaries to be sorted. There were so many different staff involved in all this. They never replied to emails or returned telephone calls. I had to email and suggest how to proceed with things, which they then agreed with. We had to complete 3 TR1 forms to get the Land Registry details correct as they did it wrong initially and it was wrong the 2nd time. They had the completely wrong address on 2 of the forms they issued. The Land Registry was completed earlier this year, but the finer details were still incorrect and what the property is worth was recorded incorrectly. We have different solicitors to sell the property and they are now having to try and correct the Land Registry.
I would advise everyone to avoid going with this company.

Atrocious
Atrocious. They've clearly taken on far too much work and are incapable of delivering. We asked them to do conveyancing for both a house sale and a house purchase. We've been passed around between several solicitors and conveyancers, all of whom have been hopeless. They're unresponsive, can't understand basic questions or instructions, ignore phone calls and emails. They even wasted an entire 5 weeks by sitting on our search reports and doing nothing with them, without telling us.
I would recommend steering clear of VersusLaw. They're appalling. We'll be making a complaint about them to the SRA.
EDIT: Despite VersusLaw's entirely generic response (strangely posted at 01:26am - who's up at half past one in the morning replying to Trustpilot reviews?), I won't be altering my review. In my view, this firm is utterly incompetent. If you need conveyancing done, I'd strongly suggest you find a different firm. Also, it's Dr Evans.
EDIT 2: I received an unsolicited phonecall from one of the Partners at this firm, and then a terse email from them, in response to this review. Make of that what you will.

We will open a complaint file, acknowledge it directly, and set out the next steps and timescales for a full and fair response (ordinarily within up to eight weeks, in line with the Legal Ombudsman scheme rules). For completeness, the SRA is our regulator and deals with professional conduct; concerns about service are for the Legal Ombudsman, who will normally only consider a matter after the firm has had the opportunity to investigate and issue a final response.
We attempted to telephone you because you had expressed dissatisfaction but had not initiated our complaints procedure; it is professional and appropriate to make prompt contact so we can understand concerns and, where needed, put things right. This is irrespective of the content of any review, which is your right. We see no reason for your insinuation that it is somehow peculiar for a regulated law firm to contact a client to understand fully the reasons for their dissatisfaction when a review has been posted online and notified directly to the firm. We do sometimes acknowledge reviews outside office hours to ensure they are picked up quickly (in your case it was actioned by a Partner at 1.26am on 18/9/25 and your review was notified to us at 10.28pm on 17/9/25).

Prolonged transaction but amazing support throughout
I had a very difficult and significantly prolonged flat sale (through no fault of hers), and throughout the entire process Kushada was exceptional. She was consistently responsive, kind, friendly, and accurate in all her dealings — even as the transaction dragged on far longer than expected.

Dealing with this firm Versus Law and Stephanie…
Dealing with this firm and Stephanie Pyle was like returning to a time that doesn't exist anymore, in the 70's and 80's when British customer service was the best in the World, when people actually cared, and bent over backwards to be the best, Versus Law are this, they bent over backwards to help me, rarely do I give a firm 100 out of 100 but they just got this, they made my bank, insurance, car insurance and anything elese in modern Britain look like amateurs when compare to the customer service that Versus Law offer.
