My experience with this firm has been extremely disappointing.
I instructed them to act on my behalf for the purchase of a flat on 24 November. It is now over six months later and I still do not have a completion date, despite there being no chain on either side.
The most frustrating aspect has been the lack of communication. The management company provided information on 13 May. I chased for updates on 15 May and 19 May and was advised on 19 May that the matter would be looked at on 21 May. Since then, I have sent further chasers and have received no response.
I have now submitted a formal complaint but have yet to receive a reply.
I understand that property transactions can be delayed and that some matters are outside a solicitor’s control. However, responding to client emails and providing updates is not an unreasonable expectation.
I would welcome a response from the firm and an update on the status of my purchase.

I honestly can’t thank Alysha Bates at JP Goldman enough for everything she has done throughout my house purchase. Before being assigned to Alysha, I had another solicitor who was making very little progress and was extremely unreliable, which made the whole process stressful and frustrating.
From the very first day Alysha took over my case, everything changed. She called me personally to introduce herself, which immediately made me feel reassured and supported. From that point onwards, she worked incredibly hard to get things moving quickly and efficiently.
Alysha was always responsive whenever I emailed with questions or needed help with anything, and nothing ever felt like too much trouble. Her communication, professionalism, and dedication throughout the process were outstanding, and she genuinely made such a stressful experience so much easier.
I would 100% recommend Alysha and the team at JP Goldman to anyone looking for a reliable, supportive, and proactive solicitor. Thank you again for all your hard work, I truly can’t thank you enough!

I decided to use JP Goldman because their fees were mid-range, which gave me the impression they'd be more competent. This was a mistake.
I have my first child being born in June, and my mortgage offer is expiring at the end of May, giving two clear deadlines that we needed to finish before, otherwise this might all fall through.
I am using them for the sale of my leasehold flat, and the purchase of my onwards freehold house. I am selling the flat privately to a relative, who I also told to use JP Goldman, to try and speed up the transaction.
This means JP Goldman are acting on 3 ends of this transaction, but none of them are doing anything with any urgency, nor are they aware of each other.
I have been calling up every week to chase, and I explain the context for the urgency to whoever picks up. The person responding says they will "note it on file" or "pass on a message", then I hear nothing for a week. Next time I call, a different person picks up, and we repeat.
When I call about the status of the flat sale transaction, they tell me they're waiting for the buyer's solicitor (who also works for JP Goldman, remember). When my relative calls to chase the same transaction and explain the same urgency, they're told the solicitor hasn't even looked at the document pack that they've had for weeks.
The latest on the freehold purchase transaction, is that they were waiting for the local authority search, which wouldn't be back until May. I asked them to send any initial enquiries to the seller's solicitor, to keep things moving so that the deadline isn't missed. A message was sent to someone to do this over a week ago, and as of today this still hasn't been done.
Leaving 2 stars now, and will downgrade to 1-star when inevitably our deadlines are missed.

My solicitors have been consistently trying to contact this company with very minimum reply. We bought a property that JP Goldman were conveyancing for on behalf of there clients. Contracts eventually exchanged with TR1 to follow to no avail. JP Goldman been paid by there client in full and I’m sitting here with no transfer of Share of Freehold. Why can’t companies like this just compete the work they have been paid for efficiently and be transparent with clear communication rather than not replying to emails and calls. I hope to receive a reply to this but wouldn’t hold my breath.

Stay away from JP Goldman and Jake Fielden. The shambles started off with me being unable to contact anyone at all to ask why my searches hadn’t been looked at. It only got worse from there, once I completed a few months went by and I wondered why I hadn’t had any confirmation of the lease being transferred to both the managing agent and the ground rent company. It turned out they hadn’t completed the paperwork. I put in a formal complaint which the MD Daniel acknowledged, saying I’d hear back within 8 weeks which never happened. I was also overcharged by hundreds of pounds for one of the fees which they’ve failed to reimburse me for. Their finance person failed to transfer money that was meant to be forwarded to me once received from Lloyds, despite me pre warning her that they would receive it and needed to pass it on. Throughout the whole process I wasn’t advised or sent any kind of report or their findings, all they did was forward anything they were sent by the sellers solicitor to me! Fast forward 7 months after completion and I’ve tried myself to rectify the sold price with Land Registry as they also messed that up, adding 10k to it! Land Registry have told me that they are still waiting on the conveyancer to return other information and that I need to ask JP Goldman to correct the sold price. Not heard from them today and probably won’t. That’s another thing, I never could get hold of Jake or the person I was told was meant to be dealing with my case originally. Their lack of communication and approach stinks. Anyhow the Ombudsman will be in touch with them shortly. Save the hassle and don’t touch them with a barge pole.

I am currently in the process of purchasing my first property with JP Goldman, and I feel compelled to leave this review due to the ongoing lack of communication and urgency on my case.
Over the past three weeks, I have made more than 25 phone calls to the firm and have only managed to get through twice. On both occasions, I was assured that someone would call me back and help resolve the situation, but no follow-up has ever been received. I have also been emailing Hannah, who has not provided any clear updates or confirmation on key matters.
We agreed a move-in date three weeks ago, yet I still have not received formal confirmation. This is now becoming critical, as the vendor has already signed and returned their contracts. As a result, I am now at real risk of missing my completion date purely due to a lack of communication and progress on my file.
This situation is unacceptable and is causing significant and unnecessary stress during what should be an exciting time. I urgently require immediate contact from someone at JP Goldman to confirm the status of my purchase and ensure that completion proceeds as agreed.
If this matter is not addressed promptly, I will have no choice but to escalate further.
I hope this review prompts the firm to take action and make contact without further delay.

I have not been impressed at all, firstly getting in contact with them is a nightmare, I can be waiting up to about 9 minutes for somone to answer. I'm still in the process of buying my property it's taken 7 months up to now. My buyers solicitor is slow but JP Goldman sat on issues for 4 weeks that needed attention. I find it very frustrating

We used JP Goldman for our house purchase. We were first time buyers purchasing into no chain but due to the lack of communication and enthusiasm to move our purchase forward this took nearly 6 months! Communication was non existent from start to finish. It would take multiple phone calls and emails to get a reply. We would be left for weeks with no updates or email replies. They have an app but they never update it.
After 2 weeks and 4 non replies to emails we submitted a formal complaint and to no surprise they never responded!!!. I rang and spoke to the assistant director who assured me contracts would be exchanged that day and it still proceeded to take another 2 weeks!
To add to this our file handler left the firm before we completed and nobody bothered to inform us.
Unfortunately i do not have any positives i can share. Buying a house for the first time yes can be stressful but should also be exciting, but JP Goldman just caused us stress and ruined the entire experience for us.
Not a firm i would recommend.

Used GP Morgan to purchase our first home, while all was well minus a few hiccups it was the after care which is absolutely shocking, I have emailed them multiple times about acquiring money back for items left in the deed and summary of contents that the previous owners took, and because JP morgan have collected the money from us they've basically they are refusing to respond to my emails which is absolutely shocking for a business to straight up ignore you. I had the displeasure of talking to Jake Fielden + Gabby Bruzaite who feyned interest at first and then completely ignored all emails sent to both of them. Avoid at all costs.

Would not recommend. I have recently completed on a house purchase with these conveyancers. Communication was quite poor and slow , making the process unnecessarily more stressful. This company was the slightly more expensive option however it was not worth the extra money. You do not get a direct phone number for your conveyancer (which I have always had with previous house purchases). If they were a cheaper option this wouldn’t have bothered me, however given that they were the more expensive option I found this very frustrating. Whoever would answer the phone number you’re given , never introduced themselves so I am not able to comment on their job role. The people that answer the phone were occasionally rude which was not helpful. The issue I rang about would always be passed on, however it made it unnecessarily difficult as you had to re-explain your issue every time as they were understandably not fully aware of your particular purchase. Throughout the entire process I did not speak to my conveyancer over the phone once.
The purchase was completed without issue but I was dissatisfied with the experience. Very poor compared to previous conveyancers I have used.

We could not recommend highly enough! Absolutely flawless service, completely stress free and our remortgage completion was finalised so quickly, we didn’t need to chase or enquire, just a completely professional and swift service from Christian and Allison, highly recommend them both. Fantastic communication! From previous experience I was expecting some delays, I can honestly say I was delighted at how this transaction was managed by them both, and very much look forward to working with them again in the future! Would not recommend. We chose JP Goldman because we wanted a local solicitors with a physical presence – not an online only one – and we were willing to pay for it. I wish we’d gone with the cheaper online only solicitors.
The communication was terrible – we only received any info at all with chasing. We were not even informed by JP Goldman that our onward agreed to our completion date – something that potentially lost us a day or two of organisation in a less than 2 week turnaround. We have completed without getting answers we would have liked on one query –we gave up on asking because it wasn’t make or break for us. Even early in the process we were asked to provide the same statement from our leaseholder three separate times and then the very last enquiry we received several months later was that this statement wasn’t sufficient.
At one point our estate agent received an angry call from our buyer informing her that apparently our solicitor hadn’t done something with the titles and it needed expediting. We defended JP Goldman to them and assumed the buyer was being impatient, but then a few days later JP Goldman said they had to expedite some titles, so we are now inclined to believe our buyer was correct.
A week before completion, only upon my chasing and only because the EA (not JP Goldman) had told us we were planning on exchanging that day, we were informed that we couldn’t exchange because our mortgage was not on some kind of portal. Nobody had been proactive enough to check or contact us on this before this point.
3 days from completion, after days of chasing, we were informed - I feel quite dismissively - that we wouldn’t be able to complete on the planned date because of this error. The root cause of the error ended up being that the solicitor’s trading name was different to the name they put to the public, and so our mortgage advisor had selected the wrong one. Whilst this was not JP Goldman's error, our mortgage advisor uploaded it under this incorrect name 3.5 months before completion – so plenty of time for the solicitors to spot it was missing.
After completion we realised our purchased property didn’t include something that they said was included on the T10, I emailed JP Goldman and they responded super promptly even though it was a Saturday. The solicitors liaised and the seller agreed to send us £200 to cover it. I then chased several times over 2.5 weeks to ask for an update with zero response, whilst in the extremely stressful period of unpacking a house, and eventually the money just appeared in our bank account, still without any email confirmation.
I’ve not mentioned names on this review because he seemed like a nice lad, but the whole experience was a stereotype of what people warn you about when talking about conveyancers. Ultimately we completed in a good time, so it’s not one star, but it felt like a lot of unnecessary stress in the two weeks before and after completion that could have been avoided with proactivity and communication.
