We were herded in like cattle and the staff were worse than useless at dealing with the confusion. There was a bottle neck at the top of the stairs and a lot of older people seemed very confused. People were sitting everywhere as not everyone had a seat and it was more like riding on a train in India. Simply shocking. I was booked into the Nyarbyll lounge which would have been fine but out of the 100 or so seats two thirds were taken by a block booking of school children of say 10 or 11 years old. Whilst they were well behaved it was like sitting in a chicken shed for 4 hours. At the very least we should have been told that this was going to be the case when booking.
The Steam Packet are a disgrace and are not only letting the residents of the IOM such as myself down but goodness only knows what the tourists must think. Owned by the IOM Govt who are not the best a running things lets face it, my only wish is that they sell to someone like Stena and the job is done right. Shocking display altogether and as the Manxman is still out of action it seems that the bookings for the much larger boat are being decanted into the Beinn. A quart into a pint pot springs to mind.

It was easy to book
It was easy to book, the price was good and the check in process was easy. Staff were friendly and helpful. One suggestion would be to provide a quiet area if possible for people who struggle with noise.

Very poor customer service
Your web site told me to contact your office when no confirmation of the payment come through. When I did they told me that it had gone through but it would be returned in the coming days and that I should re book it. I did so immediately and the price had gone up by about thirty pounds. Your operative told me that’s just the way it is! Very poor customer service!

Overcrowded booking on Ben Because of…
Overcrowded booking on Ben Because of Manxmann out of water. I am a widow with a 17 year ok Autistic and my daughter in wheelchair plus we had our dog travelling with us hence why we booked a cabin on Manxmann as this is something my son and daughter can cope with and easier for dog too. On the Ben on the way out of to uk we could not get into dog lounge (which is tiny on the Ben by the way) with wheelchair as we were blocking the door so the only solution staff came up with was to move us to two front seats outside dog lounge and park my daughter in the wheelchair in the corridor area next in front of us -so she was a hindrence to the people coming back and fore. On the way back we had to sit separately which wasnt good for my autistic son, so he had to sit in doggy area and myself and daughter in wheelchair had to sit in main sitting area. Its a sad service for the people that live on the island and need to get on and off it on a regular basis. No concession for the IOM Residents
