Disgusting service took our pup to out of hours vets on a Sunday night as she was struggling to wee and the bill was £400.02 saw our own vet Monday morning another £87.12 apparently perfect pets don’t pay for emergency vet’s if it’s not life threatening as I am not a vet I didn’t know this so they have paid £22.71 and because it’s seen as a claim I’ve got to pay £112.00 to cancel the policy a complete joke stay away from them

I was covered by perfect pet insurance for my dog who died after a short illness. I was astonished when i submitted my claim for vet care and medicines and the majority of the latter cost was declined. The insurer insisted that the maximum they would pay out was double the price that the drugs were available at online (although the terms and conditions say double the wholesale price which i still believe should be interpreted as the industry wholesale price). Vets charge much more for drugs than an online pharmacy so in practice this meant I was left hundreds of pounds out of pocket. I would strongly advise anyone searching for a new pet insurer to look elsewhere if you want the security of knowing your vet bills will be covered. This is not the industry standard and adds significantly to the stress during a period when you need support.

I experienced a very poor claims handling experience and will never use them again. Perfectpet rejected my claim for £900 despite evidence that condition was not "pre-existing". In the end, I had to complain to the financial ombudsman (successfully) to have the claim paid out.

Perfectpet rejected my claim for low folate levels in my dog which caused severe diarrhea and weight loss. My dog has a sensitive stomach which is well documented, and was never denied, but which is attributable to stress and scavenging. This new condition was a different condition, evidenced by blood results, weight loss AND my vet updating the notes to make it clear that this was not a pre-existing condition. They initially rejected the claim on the basis it was a pre-existing condition. I gave them the updated notes where my vet specifically said that this condition was unrelated to previous incidences. They still rejected my claim.

I had to complain to the Financial Ombudsman Service who upheld my complaint that Perfectpet had not treated me fairly and incorrectly declined my claim when it was clear from the evidence that the condition was not a pre-existing one.

As always fast efficient and friendly service.
Probably the best customer service I have experienced this year.

Jake was super friendly and very helpful. He made it very easy to update the details on my dogs policy to go from unneutered to neutered and he double checked that all the other details were correct while we were on the phone aswell.
