It’s so easy to make a claim I’ve just downloaded my invoice to Medicash even if you have to phone them there always pleasant and polite and helpful I’ve been with them for many years now.

Every time I have rung Medicash the call is answered quickly and whoever I have spoken to is always extremely polite, helpful, patient and nothing is to much trouble. My claims have always been dealt with quickly and efficiently.

This company has been difficult to deal with as it has very rigid ideas about supporting documentation format for claims. I’m now on my 4th attempt having spent hours on the phone to the hospital and my primary healthcare insurer. If you wish to make a claim with these guys, prepare for a long battle! Would not recommend.

Medicash have generally been great and prompt with paying out when claiming for low-level treatments, e.g. hygienist appointments and prescriptions. However, similar to previous reviews citing issues with them paying out for higher value claims, they seem unwilling to pay for diagnostic scans. This is very disappointing and not something mentioned at all in their benefits table provided to users.
I put in a claim for £200 for a CBCT scan, which I only got on the basis of believing Medicash would reimburse me. (I have a diagnostic scans benefit of £500 a year.) Instead, they have reimbursed me for ‘routine dental treatment,’ for which my benefit is £60 a year. This is not a routine dental treatment, as any quick Google search would tell someone - a scan diagnoses an issue; it doesn’t treat it. The treatment I could need is also complex - not routine. This also means my routine dental benefit has been used up for the rest of the year, which I had planned to use much later in the claim period. Given that previous reviews have also cited issues with payouts for diagnostic scans and larger sums of money, I suspect this downgrading of claims is common practice.
I have tried to contact them using two email addresses, but I have not even had an acknowledgement email so far. Perhaps a response will be on the way soon, but this is poor communication.
I have been very let down. I have been reimbursed £60 out of an expected £200. I would not have had the scan had I known Medicash would not have reimbursed me. From my previous positive experiences with them, I had no doubt in my mind that they would pay, but they have not in this case.

Having read the numerous 5-star reviews, I can only conclude that our experience with Medicash bears little resemblance to that of many other customers. My son suffered a serious football injury whilst at school. To avoid lengthy delays and ensure he received prompt treatment, we paid privately for him to see a fully qualified physiotherapist (a cost we did not even attempt to claim from Medicash). Following assessment, the physiotherapist advised that an MRI scan was urgently required. We subsequently funded the MRI ourselves. The scan confirmed that my son had sustained a fracture, and the specialist's findings and recommendations were then provided to our NHS GP, who took over his ongoing care. Despite clear evidence of a genuine injury, a confirmed diagnosis, and the involvement of qualified healthcare professionals throughout the process, Medicash refused to reimburse even the £100 contribution available towards the MRI scan, a scan that cost significantly more than this amount. Their reason? The initial referral came from a physiotherapist rather than a GP. This decision defies both logic and common sense. The MRI was medically necessary. The diagnosis was confirmed. The findings were accepted by our NHS doctor. Yet Medicash chose to rely on a technicality rather than support a member who had acted responsibly and sought appropriate medical advice. What makes this particularly disappointing is that the claim was for just £100. After paying premiums, one might reasonably expect a healthcare provider to focus on the substance of a claim rather than searching for procedural reasons to decline it. The experience has left us with the clear impression that Medicash is more interested in finding reasons not to pay than in supporting policyholders when they genuinely need assistance. That may satisfy the letter of their policy, but it certainly does not reflect the level of customer care their marketing materials would lead you to expect. We are sharing this review simply to warn others to read the small print very carefully and not assume that common sense will prevail if you ever need to make a claim. As for us, we will be voting with our feet. We have already decided to return to Bupa.
And before Medicash responds with another standardised explanation of why their decision was technically correct, I would simply point out that being technically correct is not always the same as treating customers fairly. Please do not ask us to contact customer care!

Everytime I need to use medicash, so quick at turning everything around. Quick payments, GP appointments on the same day, easy to pick up prescriptions and nice people to speak to if you need help. Really please with this service . Thank you
