This is in regard to the vacancy application form... i have great concerns with how it is worded. Such as, there's a question asking 'would you be comfortable piercing a baby's ears'.. obviously, the answer is 'no' because it is illegal to pierce anyone under the age of 16yrs old, and a baby isn't even old enough to express in word that it would or wouldn't want a piercing. Can't be having businesses playing unprofessional games as that.

I recently visited Claire’s Accessories at Middlebrook Retail Park with my daughter to collect an online order. While in the store, I noticed an email promotion offering 20% off for customers collecting orders in-store. So my daughter selected several items, combining the store’s “Buy 3, Get 3 Free” deal with other in-store promotions, including £15.00 bags and £5.00 nails. A staff member confirmed that all discounts could be applied together, so we proceeded with the purchase.

The items included:
• Bag (£15.00 in-store offer)
• Nails (£5.00 in-store offer)
• Palm Pal (£8.00)
• Two mystery lip balms (£5.00 each)
• Lip Smacker (£6.00)

Before the 20% discount, the total should have been around £28. However, I was charged significantly more. As I was in a rush, I couldn’t review the receipt at the time, but upon checking later at home, I realised the mistake.

I contacted Claire’s customer service expecting a simple correction and refund for the overcharge. Instead, I encountered an unhelpful and dismissive response. The representative refused to address the issue, stating that because the receipt didn’t show the discounted price, they couldn’t issue a refund—despite the fact that I was reaching out precisely because the discounts hadn’t been applied correctly. I provided clear evidence from their own website proving that the discounts were valid in-store, yet they still refused to help.

Due to this frustrating experience and what I believe to be false advertising, I have reported Claire’s to Trading Standards. The case is currently under review. I strongly urge others to double-check their receipts before leaving the store, as their promotions appear to be misleading, and their customer service is unhelpful when resolving pricing errors.

This store should be banned from piercing. I decided on a whim to get my lobes pierced extra 2 times on both ears. Piercings are complete off and not symetrical on both sides. Will now need to go have these corrected by a piercing professional! Avoid at all costs.

From the minute we walked in the shop, we were being watched by the staff. It made us feel uncomfortable and we couldn’t enjoy our shopping experience without being stared at, like we were going to shoplift. I understand that shoplifting may be a common event and they have to be vigilant, but anyone could see we were casually browsing, can’t we do that anymore?

I am extremely annoyed after finding out that I did not have to spend an extra 8 pound on the solution. It was never ever mentioned to me whilst I was paying for my piercing. Whilst the experience was very good, finding out that I could have just payed for the 6 week solution, which to be honest after looking at the ingredient I wouldn't have used. I am upset and please check before you pay!!

Won’t except the vouchers in store.
The bad reviews are unfortunately correct. I first looked at the reviews and thought sure no company is this bad. Unfortunately, they really are bad.

Went to the Worthing store and they refused to accept the voucher we had. They said the machines were not working properly.

Je reçois quelques jours plus tard un mail d’UPS qui me réclame 182,25€ de frais de douane!!. Claires à déclarer la somme de 316€ de valeur marchande. J’ai refusé le colis comme conseillé par UPS et claires m’a remboursé ma commande mais je reçois ce jour la facture UPS à régler quand même. Donc 182€ en fumée !!! Merci claires pour votre transparence et de ne pas informer les clients au moment de l’achat!!!

Online order 3 weeks ago. DPD never got my parcel. Sent a second email to customer support and no response. I spent about €50, never again. Stores are fine, but never use the webshop or customer service. It’s a honestly shocking experience in 2025.

This is an add-on from my previous written reviews. Yes I was in a bad mood that day which only worsened by the disrespect received, both from service agents (local manager and E-mails alike) and the lack of respect to customers conveyed in the website/App’s awful functionalities. However, the issues I spoke about remain. Actually, it has gotten worse.

“Free Gift” for members of the “Bestie” tier is a lie. It’s also technically a scam as it takes money to reach said “Bestie” tier and obtain a “Free Gift.” A promise that has never been fulfilled. One that is met with further contradictions and no compensation.

No gift was received and they continue to parrot that it “was issued” despite my entire conversation pointing out that this isn’t a resolution in the first place. I’m significantly less angry about no free gift and much more infuriated by the shameless gaslighting. Are you serious? Are you freaking serious? My entire case, which I’ve screenshotted, took about a month due to their lackluster responses and lack of respect. I, myself, had to be the one to request updates as they thought they could sneak by without updating. Repetitive, time-wasting, parroting, and lacking comprehension skills. Or at least, executive skills, even just honesty. So, just REMOVE THAT PERK and PROVIDE COMPENSATION.

Regarding online order issues; the very second online order I ever made was met with 2 items being refunded after shipment due to being out of stock. Pardon. Why list it as in-stock then? I’ve made over 100 purchases in various other online retailers and only 2 times have they had to issue the out of stock refund. Additionally, they ship much sooner than Claire’s. You would think Claire’s would provide faster or equal shipment speeds due to their location within the US. Maybe package + mark several warehouse items that I’ve purchased as belonging to me before said stock disappears? Maybe ship sooner to avoid this problem at all?

Maybe fix the nightmare website? A reviewer said that customer service responded to them, “Website isn't updated.” That reviewer was being lied to. The website ABSOLUTELY gets updated; in the crappiest way. All they update are the holiday theme colors and weird stock updates. So someone is leading the website/app, they just refuse to make it navigable and functional for customers, with strange loading times that sites such as JCPenney, Daniel’s Jewelers, even the massive size of eBay or Temu, are better with.

And I’m still “lucky” I get refunded when items are suddenly “out of stock.”

Subject: Very misleading information

I booked an appointment on your site, for an appointment today (email attached). I have booked my 14 year old daughter to have her upper cartilage ears pierced (these details were all filled out and specified in accordance with your website). I also filled out further forms online. 

When going for the appointment with my daughter, I was astonished and appalled by the store assistants behaviour towards us; she told us, in a very rude manner, that the price on the website (also attached), cannot be honoured and i would have to be charged the on store price! Because if the rude manner and to cause less stress to my daughter who was already anxious and apprehensive about getting her ears pierced, I said nothing. She then also told me that I would have additional charges, because it was the upper cartalige of her ears! Again, I said nothing, as she was being quite rude. I attached the receipt. Clearly you can see I have been charged incorrectly. Also, if I have been charged correctly, then your website is very misleading, and I will report this to trading standards. In addition, I bought her extra earrings. I also received a text after I have booked (attached), but they would not honour this either. 

I would be interested to hear your thoughts.

Appalling customer service, when my daughter had her ears pierced we done the scheme of getting a free pair of earrings each month for a whole year, a few months went by and I went into a local store who had reassured me she was going to resolve my problem, which she failed to do so. I have been chasing staff up most weeks about this situation of not receiving any earrings I then met with the manager of Ellesmere Port store Asda. Lovely lady actually got me going in the right direction and done everything she needed to do. Now because this was raised my management 60 days after the piercing date she is now not entitled to the free earrings. Now I am really not happy about this as this was no fault of ours as a customer but to one of your staff members lacking her job and failing to put any details onto the system for me to receive vouchers. And the best way you can resolve this is crediting her with £20 club card award. Absolutely unacceptable

Went to the torquay branch, a lovely shop with lots of lovely products, a little pricey but worth going when there's a sale on! However the only let down was the member of staff who was there - a short, larger lady with long hair who was rather unprofessional looking. She was extremely loud and not in a good way! Seemed like she couldn't care less about serving the customers in store and was too busy chatting away to pay any attention. Very rude in my opinion.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Claire’s in Harrow. I booked an ear-piercing appointment for my 11-month-old daughter almost a week in advance through their website. However, when I arrived at the store today, the staff casually informed me that the piercing specialist was not available and told me to come back the next day.

This is completely unacceptable. If the appointment could not be honored, I should have been informed in advance rather than making a trip for nothing. It shows a lack of organization and respect for customers’ time. Claire’s needs to seriously improve its booking system and communication. I would not recommend relying on them for piercings, especially for babies.

Ma fille de 10 ans a acheté cet après-midi 6 articles chez Claire’s dans la boutique rue de Bordeaux à Tours) avec une offre faussement intéressante : 3 articles achetés = 3 articles offerts. Quelques minutes après son achat, elle regrette d’avoir dépensé autant et souhaite se faire rembourser une partie des articles ou l’intégralité. De retour chez Claire’s, elle s’est donc présentée avec son ticket où il est écrit « échange et remboursement sous 28 jours sur présentation du ticket de caisse ». Mauvaise surprise lorsqu’une vendeuse lui dit que Claire’s ne rembourse pas les achats effectués en espèce. Je précise qu’aucun n’article n’a été déballé et qu’elle avait le ticket de caisse. Elle est donc repartie avec ses 6 articles très déçue car il n’est précisé nulle part, ni sur le ticket, ni dans le magasin, ni sur le site que les articles ne peuvent être remboursés si ils ont été payés en espèce. Je trouve cette « politique de remboursement » totalement abusive et illégale car sur le site de Claire’s il est bien stipulé que : « Les remboursements seront effectués en utilisant le mode de paiement d’origine, sauf pour les commandes achetées en ligne via Paypal ». Je n’achèterai plus dans cette enseigne et je souhaite dénoncer ce qui ressemble à une escroquerie et abus de faiblesse.

The lovely lady that is always in clairs is very welcoming towards customers. Unfortunately the assistant manager is not very customer focused.

Undisclosed hidden charges. If you want to get charged extra £15 for piercing which is not disclosed than this is the place to go. If you have 2 children who want ears pierced at the same time, each of the kids will be charged extra £15 for after care product which you don't really need or at least 1 bottle between 2 kids if really needed. Worst is no one in store will tell that you have to buy it. When we asked price for ear piercing we were told £60. When you look on receipt piercing is £45 and cleaning product separately added £15. Would be nice to know in advance, would have gone somewhere else and pay only for piercing as I don't need cleaning product for £15

I ordered some stress balls for my autistic son whose previous ones popped and needed them urgently. I paid for express delivery and it was scheduled to arrive on Wednesday. Currently Friday and haven’t even been shipped or packaged. Unacceptable seeing as I paid for shipping for a very important reason.

I must do a big shout out to nikki who works in torquay claires she allways make me feel welcomed and she's so friendly she allways makes me smile I truly recommend herself she allways so helpful with bargains I think she deserves a pay rise she allways brightens my day love you nikkie you legend 👌 ♥ xxx
