Very disappointed with Argos refund policy
Very disappointed with Argos. I purchased a scale online and tried to return it after realising it wasn’t what I needed. I only turned it on briefly to check it, and it was returned within 2 days of collection in the same condition as I bought it.
The return was refused because part of the thin plastic covering inside the box tore when I opened it to view the product. The item itself was untouched and in perfect condition.
I even offered for the cost of the plastic protector to be deducted from my refund, but this was refused. This feels like an overly strict policy and not very customer-friendly.
Based on this experience, I would not feel confident purchasing from them again.
Argos customer service is the worst of…
Argos customer service is the worst of any company. Their virtual assistant is a complete waste of time. It's impossible to contact them and their chat cannot respond to specific issues and offers limited topics to choose from. It keeps asking the same questions and I ended up going around in circles.

Washing machine and collection of old machine ordered on the Thursday, delivered on the Saturday.
Delivery men arrived 6.40 AM on the Saturday and told me they couldn’t take the old machine as I was first delivery and there was no room (apparently they can’t stack old machines) in the lorry. They had no idea why I was scheduled as first delivery.
Note: Delivery men were very polite and apologetic.
So while purchase was easy I am left feeling dissatisfied.
Item a no show and no communication.
I ordered an item due for delivery and paid £6.95.

We brought a washer dryer which was delivered ok, the next day the belt came off. We have been trying to return it and get a refund for 3 weeks, we have spoken to so many people who say we need to speak to someone else.
They delivered a new one which we refused instead of collecting original one. The washing machine has been sitting outside in the rain as we do not have the room to keep it inside.
I have never been so stressed trying to return something before.
We even tried to call the complaints department and we couldn’t even make a complaint, they yet again passed us to someone else.

Unable to get a vat receipt for a large item purchased in store. I was told had to apply for it online, then told by one of their online representatives to go back to the store. I am a Finance Director have a VAT inspection soon, I will be telling him, and no doubt he will have more than something to say!
Actually the girl was a bit abrupt and said repeatedly I must apply online….while I was repeatedly tell her she was wrong, but she would not change her stubborn attitude. And in no way am I travelling back to the store.
Poorly trained staff, and absolutely hopeless advice from their call centre. I asked for a return call from a line manager, still bloody waiting. Argos appear to be inept at more than one level.
And let Argos answer the letter that will no doubt be coming from HM Customs and Excise.
Warranty claim mishandled and returned in worse condition
I purchased a pair of Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro from Argos which are still within warranty. The charging case developed a fault where wired charging stopped working, although wireless charging was still functioning.
I returned the item to store, where the wireless charging was demonstrated as working before the product was sent for inspection. I was later informed the item was deemed “liquid damaged”, with the suggestion this could be due to environmental factors such as being kept in a kitchen, and I was quoted £131 for repair on a product that originally cost £179.
I declined the repair and the item was returned to store. However, when tested in-store upon return, the wireless charging functionality was no longer working, despite this having been confirmed as operational prior to inspection.
I raised this with Argos Executive Complaints, but they have refused to take responsibility or investigate the loss of functionality while the item was in their care. Instead, I have been advised to arrange and fund an independent inspection myself.
This experience falls significantly below expected consumer standards. I will not be purchasing from a company that appears unwilling to properly investigate faults or accept responsibility when issues arise during their own handling process.

I ordered a phone online and tried to return it on the same day. The item is completely new, unused, and still has all its original protective stickers — I only opened the outer carton.
However, the employee at the store refused the return without even checking the item. I then went to another branch, and they also refused to accept the return.
This is very frustrating, especially since the return policy states up to 30 days, and under UK law, I have a 14-day right to return online purchases.
If opening the carton voids the return, this should be clearly stated at the time of purchase. No such warning was given.
Overall, this experience has been extremely disappointing. The company was uncooperative, and the staff were unprofessional in handling the situation.

AWFUL EXPERIENCE ! you will be lucky if you get an agent whos english is their third language. ! my order didnt arrive. although showed it has....the address was not mine....the photo of the item ( supposed to be a slow cooker was obviously clothing ) tracking of the item shows a different address.....evri man at fault but agos do not belive me !.......they use evri and should follow this up....but no 10 phone calls chat complaints...just refusals saying item delivered ! im that upset....ive a complaint reference now... and in 48 hours its small claims court....i have all my evidence......special mention to ARJAN GILL a total idiot who give lip service Said he understood my delema and failed to notice tracking on my number was NOT MY ADRESS. and item handed to that address was CLOTHING....not a slow cooker......im at a loss !.....now...a 48 hours wait then off to small claims court...and trading standards.....and i will follow through

Ordered a set of outdoor chairs and table. They came with one of the tops of the chairs had snapped off. Had an exchange the next day, with absolutely no way of tracking and waiting in for hours.
The new set came and the table was cracked and had parts missing. Came to collect today as I requested a refund… AGAIN no tracking for this and I was given a collection time between 12-9… who has a life where they can wait in for 8 hours.
Absolutely shocking service and this isn’t the first problem I’ve had with you.

We ordered a dishwasher and that was difficult enough. But we had delivery confirmed by txt. We also called and got a message telling us your delivery is on its way. 6pm came so we called them and they told us we would not get a delivery today. Then told we need to phone them tomorrow to rebook. They did give us our delivery charges back. This is totally unacceptable as my wife changed her day off and now we have to rebook when none us are around.
No longer an Argos fan.
Up until today I would probably have recommended Argos. I previously have only have ordered small items, but they failed miserably today something bigger, a fridge freezer. I was left with a huge package in the wrong room (kitchen seems self-evident, sitting room not so much). And left under a ceiling lamp which made removing the packaging near impossible. In spite of the package carrying a warning label saying two people required to lift - it clearly didn't matter to them that they had effectively left me without a fridge and unable to watch tv, sit on the sofa etc. I had to bug my neighbours, and a kind person came and helped but under the packaging we found a huge dent in the appliance. Argos and others apparently leave removal of packaging to delivery discretion - a nonsense as a quick removal of packaging would have revealed the dent. And no company should believe that it's ok to make buying larger goods impossible for anyone on their own or elderly or disabled. There isn't an option to purchase "installation" but if they put the fridge in the right room, I think my technical skills would have run to plugging it in. My sense of disappointment was compounded when the Argos helpline decided my order number didn't exist. In the end a very bored online chat person (only slightly different from the robot chat) helped with some kind of resolution. I just feel sad that the reliable source I thought I had in Argos just doesn't exist.
Terrible delivery
I ordered a fridge/freezer and paid extra for the delivery and recycling. The two men who brought it were reluctant to take the plastic drawers, saying that I could 'put them in the bin.' I said no way so they took them. They took the old freezer to the van leaving the new one fully packaged in the middle of the kitchen. The next thing I knew was they had driven off. I immediately rang them and said what about unpacking. They said they didn't give that service. It clearly states on the Argos website that large items will be unpacked and installed. I have had a refund of my delivery charge but at 79 years old and living alone that isn't going to pay for my food that should be going into the freezer. Back to AO in future.

We bought a slow cooker In December 25. Just two months later and used three times horrible brown marks have appeared on the aluminium.
I went on the Argos web site and followed links to start a return and found myself going 'round in circles'. So I phoned the number on the site for help. I explained the problem and was told it's normal ! I asked If I could take the cooker back to the shop where It was bought I was told I would only get referred back. I was asked to send three phots by email link. At this point I was getting fed up and gave up. I am amazed (after 30 years In retail) that a company like Argos could treat customers like this. This Is a two month old Item surely it should be covered for a year ? WE WILL NOT SHOP AT ARGOS AGAIN.

Zero stars! Paid for delivery, installation and recycling of a washing machine. Watched the van pull up outside my house on the scheduled day and then watched it drive away! Received a message 5 minutes later saying they couldn't access my property. Had to rearrange a delivery for a week later, had to wait in because the timeslot I originally booked no longer applied. When the 2 guys turned up, said it was delivery only, no installation or recycling! One guy was very confrontational straight away. The other guy offered to take my old machine downstairs, which i was grateful for, this was met with lots of huffing and puffing and comments from the other one. Just a really unprofessional attitude. Kept saying they were in such a hurry and then were still sat outside 20 mins later! Argos, you are very disappointing in your customer service.

Ordered something for same day delivery…
Ordered something for same day delivery didn’t bother turning up next day. I called them bright and early for them to reschedule. My delivery was meant to come between four and six. I’ve had to call them up and say the order is not here yet. They then changed it to 7 to 9. It was my best friend‘s birthday and I was relying on this same day delivery Nonsense that was talking about.
