The transition from the old Argos Card to the new NewDay-backed Argos Pay app has completely ruined the customer experience. They have entirely removed the ability for customers to choose which specific plan they want to pay off.If you have an active interest-free Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) plan, you cannot chip away at it if you owe even a penny on standard credit. The system forces all manual payments to clear standard interest-bearing balances first. While they claim this is to help the customer, it acts as a deliberate trap. It forces you to leave your 0% promotional balance untouched while your deadline ticks down, maximizing the risk of getting hit with massive, backdated interest penalties when the plan expires.To make matters worse, the new mobile app is completely unstable and constantly throws connection errors, locking customers out from checking their account dashboard. Customer service is nearly impossible to reach, and agents give conflicting information about how extra payments affect fixed Direct Debits. This system feels designed to trap everyday consumers into a cycle of debt. Avoid using Argos Pay.

Avoid! This card gets you In massive debt. Get charged £45 fee each month, which over laps, i hadn’t used the card in months, now in debt trying to pay it off. AVOID

Wow, where to begin? Not even going to as lost the will to live and I feel very sorry for helpful staff instore who can only say so much. Awful transition and have broken something that didn't need fixed. Customers like me will leave in big numbers.

This app is the worst I've ever used..you can't even pay what you owe it's a nightmare....

From the beginning, at launch, there were too many issues to list - from registration glitches, incorrect information on next payment date (which led to a late charge) etc; however, the biggest gripe for me is being unable to pay as and when I want against the Buy Now Pay Later balances. I always pay 3x the amount requested from my normal balance, and then chip away with larger payments against the BNPL - you cannot do this anymore!!!! Whatever you pay, they decide where to apply it and this is under the header of; "Your payments will be automatically applied in a way that helps you pay less interest and maintain any plans you have on your account" - however, in the real world, I would far rather have complete control over where my money goes! I will hazard a guess, that later down the line, there will be repercussions for the company because of this. For Example: If I want to pay 3x the amount of my Normal Credit, I should be able to do this - and if I want to pay a block payment of a BNPL in full, I should be able to do this too - the way the new system works, the app will attribute the relevant funds where it sees fit, which could mean splitting the aforementioned block payment against two BNPL - it will cost more in interest for the consumer! I am not just unhappy about this, but livid.

I getting ride of argos pay. after clear my balance I will not using argos payment option anymore. The interest are so so high this is unbelievable. Every month I pay it's looks like the balance is not going down. Honestly it's very stressful. Since argos card changed to argos pay each month they apply interest of £15 this means I will never end up this bill.

Very poor not being able to select your normal credit balance or your BNPL balance to pay off

When I moved into our old house,I applied for a Argos card.I spent around £1300.00 with a £5,000 credit limit.I made the minimum monthly payment on 23rd of every month.I wanted to reduce my balance.I stopped spending on the card.I received a letter to advise, that as I was in persistent debt.That they could withdraw the card.Which they did.I was not concerned as I no longer wanted to do business with a company that operates this way.Two years ago I paid of the balance in full.I asked them to close the account down.I then receive a statement to advise I am £30.00+ in credit.I contacted Argos, they advised they cannot close the account down,untill I prove that I made the over payment on the account.Meanwhile as I am in credit they refuse to close the account down & request that i set up details to make any payments,I have paid the balance off in full.They continue to send statements, when I have no active card on file.Have not made a purchase in 3 yrs+.I have suggested they refund me using the same bank account.No they are not going to do that.But are happy to send statements with the credit balance to stay on the account.another further insult,they have placed my account on my credit reference agency, when I have no active balance.I have asked them to close the account & keep the balance.I am in the process of contacting Clear score to get them removed.Need I say more!

Absolutely rubbish - cannot log into my account.

The new app is absolutely terrible. I will be closing my Argos account and never shopping there again. What a shame as it was previously great

Wont let me login to pay/register,incorrect details, yet argos will let me login to buy! I got a new phone because of the 12 months interest free but seems thats not the case anymore because other older purchases on the same plans. So i rang up and tried to pay on my credit card so i could get the 12 months inerest free that i was sold. plus a 3% charge for my trouble to be told argos pay dont accept credit cards. Looks like argos have been taken over by the mafia! Good luck with martin lewis!!

Been absolutely terrible experience, they have full control on how you make payments to any BNPL plans you have pre existing to this transistion, therefore you can no long chip away on plans as and when which is why most people take out these plans so that they are able to make payments and spread out the cost.
if you have any balances on a normal credit they will not let you pay off a bnpl, and will let the plan be moved acrossed and charge deffered interest if the normal credit is not settled first.
its all to do with adding payments to the plan that acrues most interest, which is fine but they will not allow you to make payments to a bnpl to make sure you clear them so that you do not go further in to debt.

i have had to take a out a loan to get this cleared as the worry this has caused has been awful;!

Argos before this was always my go to, now i will be closing the account as new day just wish to push you further into debt

There is no longer an option to pay towards BNPL purchases. After spending 45 minutes trying to actually speak to someone in person on the phone, I was finally told that I cannot make a payment to a specific plan, that their system automatically chooses which plan to pay it to and it cannot be changed. The customer service representative was very unhelpful. I will be paying my balance and closing my account

It's the worst service I've ever had in my life. You can't get anything done via email, application and telephone.

Just closed my credit card account with Argos today, took an age since moving to Argis Pay and wanted account numbers I didnt have on email or text, took forever to get through to an agent I could hardly understand and was reading from a script. Will need to read the closing statement as I had to pay £17 when I was expecting the account to be 0. I initially took the credit card as it seemed similar to Klarna whn in fact it wasnt, I already foled a complaint and was compensated but it looks like the issues have persisted. I only spent about £50 and have paid through the nose on charges I tried to avoid. Everything had to be done over the phone. Awful, awful service and because of it I will never shop with Argos again I feel completely mugged of by what I thought was a respectsble British brand. Completely gone down the pan. Awful treatment of customers and the next likely British brand to close soon I think...

I have been a customer of Argos for a long time having a Argos card for more years than a can remember , since these new people have taken over payday i am going pay what I owe £234 and cancel my account more trouble than it worth good riddance to them .

What an absolute disaster of this New Day company & New app Argos Pay. I never had a problem paying with the old app, this New one made a very big mistake charging me almost all of my purchases in 1 go. Im only supposed to pay £183 this month but wake up 4am and saw a notification on my phone charging me £1900 Jesus Christ this is a nightmare. I will never buy in Argos ever again.

New app is absolutely useless, says wrong passcode entered, it wasn’t, no option to pay a figure off payment plan. The old app worked so why change it!!! Argos needs to sort this out a.s.a.p 🤬

Registration was easy enough.
However, trying to make a payment is a nightmare.
As I'm entering my bank details, the app keeps showing me an account with the wrong sort code and account number. So obviously I'm not going to continue with the payment.
I bet Argos will be very quick to charge a late payment fee though.

Shame I’m not able to do minus stars! Argos have made a HUGE mistake by going over to the ‘new way to manage your Argos payments’ It’s a rip off. You cannot pay off the plans you want to, you have to pay X amount and THEY decide what to pay off. I also don’t think this is in the new contract T&Cs. Once I have paid my balance off Argos can go and stick their new way to pay where the sun don’t shine. Keep a check on your accounts people cos all my trust has left the building. I can see this going boobies up for all their loyal customers
