One of the worst companies ever
Truly one of the worst companies I've ever had the displeasure of using. There are too many things to mention! After being locked out of my account while trying to pay my bill early, and spending more than a week via emails and phone calls to re-establish 2FA, my bill became due and I was assessed an exorbitant $75 late fee. No mercy was shown due to these extenuating circumstances. But it seems like every experience that I had with this company was pure drama. Absolutely awful company to work with. There's a million other choices for fuel cards, my friends
Medical Insurance Fiasco
I signed up for a retiree medical health insurance and paid the first two months only to have that policy cancelled. Called customer service (Ashley) and was told that I had been paying on a current employee policy and was given another registration code to activate retiree policy. Red tape delay wouldn't let them credit retiree policy for the same two months, so I paid again for the retiree policy. Recurring payment will deduct the 5th monthly payment tomorrow (3/1/2026) for 7 weeks of insurance. Have contacted customer service a total of 4 times (Ashley, Noe, David, and John) and also contacted corporate HR of my former employer. All avenues have proven to be useless. WEX hides behind the customer having no means to contact anyone but work-from-home telephone reps. Employer HR must be facing the same firewall put up between WEX and customers. WEX is useless and should be investigated for ripping off their customers. Any company that would sign up for such substandard services as is offered by WEX should be ashamed to put their employees through such a fiasco! WEX is nothing but a total waste!
Don't ever use Wex for a fuel card
Don't ever use Wex for a fuel card. They charge crazy fees, you have three weeks to get everything paid, and if you are late they immediate suspend your account with no grace period. They don't take credit card for payment, only check or ACH so it makes dealing with them hard if your company doesn't use ACH. There have been times where my overnighted check gets to them and they don't cash the check until days later so then I incur a late fee.
The absolute worst customer service
My cobra benefits were moved to Wex and they are completely incompetent.
Very Disappointed
I was laid off from my company and applied for benefits to take effect December 20525. I applied for it to be directly taken out of my account so that it would not lapse. At the end of January 1/30 to be precise I received a letter from WQEX stating that my insurance would be terminated as of the end of the grace period which was the next day because I had a balance on my account. The letter was dated 1/23/26. I called WEX customer service that following Monday on 2/2 and spoke to Xy and was told my account was cancelled but she would put in a benefit exception but that will take 10 business days. I called back 2/6 and was told by Nicole to call back in 10 business days so called back at that time (2/13/26) and spoke to Gabriel who stated that the business exception had been accepted and to send in the check for the delinquent amount and February's payment which was completed that very day. He also told me to call back on the following Tuesday (Monday was a holiday) so that we could set up direct deposit so this would not happen again for March. I called Tuesday 2/17 and spoke with Nicole who states they have 8 business days to process and to call back on Friday 2/20 and stated that they could have the insurance company expedite the process once my payment is received. I purposefully waited for a few extra days and called back today 2/24 and spoke to Chie she again states that my account is still closed and they are waiting for my payment and have 10 business days to process this. I should call back on Thursday or Friday of this week. I expressed that I am very concerned that this will happen again for the month of March and I really need my insurance as I have an appointment scheduled for March 9th. She stated to pay out of pocket but since I am unemployed I do not have the over a hundred dollars that will be charged even if they will retroactive the payment. I am very disappointed and frustrated with WEX cobra and their customer service. I have asked to talk to supervisors but are never put through (told they are busy and on the line but will send a message but never hear from them). I feel as if I am in between a rock and a hard place and getting no help whatsoever. If my company did not contract with this facility and I did not need the insurance (which pays) well I would just forget the whole thing.
The worst customer service
This is probably the worst company for customer service. The representatives seem to go out of their way to not be helpful. I would avoid at all cost having to interact with this company. They should be out of business.
VERY POOR COMPANY
Can not get any help signed up and show nothing in my account. Keeps coming out of my check since January they have my money but unable to use it. Tried calling and no one seems to work here as they do not answer the phone. Take your money and hide. I would of given a zero star but no option for that to make them look good
I hate WEX

They told me I could mail in my tax.form from Social Security to show how much I paid into Medicare. I wrote see attached on their form. They rejected my claim again, They said I needed to write the number in. They couldn’t divide it by 12. I gave up. Too many hoops to jump through. The worst benefit EVER.

I went out of my way to find a place where I could review Wex because it is the worst piece of software I have ever used. I hate my company for choosing it. I hate how hard it is to navigate and how awful the user interface is. Zero notifications. Hoops to jump through. Incompetent customer service. AVOID
TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE
TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! You can only email them, so they respond at their leisure and the phone number is completely AI, no humans to be found. I have been trying to change the phone number for the OTP for a week now. Thankful that the previous employees phone number that it is tied to is helpful because I would be locked out of the account for going on 2 weeks now. I would recommend looking into a different fleet fuel service provider.
I would give it negative stars if able
At this point i can only assume they are collecting health information from forcing people into giving EOBs and other healthcare records and selling it while denying claims to pad their bottom line. I have been fighting them over a receipt that contains all the necessary information but they deny the claim and keep asking for my EOB with all the healthcare information attached.

I guess my employers chose this vendor to administer mass transit and FSA accounts because they're CHEAP. And their lack of customer service and level of incompetence is unbelievable.
It's always a toss up whether they'll accept your claims for reimbursement or if the documentation you provide will be approved. It just depends on the whim of whomever is reviewing. I submitted a receipt when prompted that has all the info. needed: name, address, date of service, amount, service provided etc. I STILL got a message that they need more info -- which was EXACTLY the info. on the dang receipt I provided. Just logged into my account and that request thankfully disappeared. But they wanted receipts AGAIN for for receipts I already submitted, but this time w/ some new cover sheet that want me to submit w/ the receipts I already submitted.
INCOMPETENT. Website is slow and ready to crash at any moment. I wonder if these fools get money for arbitrarily denying claims w/ no basis.
I, too, pray for the day this crap company goes bankrupt.

Believe the poor reviews or learn the hard way. Horrible company to do business with. Don’t get their card! You’ve been warned! Insane fees on small dollar amounts, unresponsive to emails, service center located in India,You won’t save any money! Do yourself a favor and just use a credit card you’ll save way way more money.
Billing Issues/Zero Integrity
Billing issues with this company has been a constant for as long as my company has been with WEX. Unfortunately, they have bought out all other gas cards and it's impossible to get away from them. They are late to process invoices, they are late to process payments and because we refuse to sign up for auto pay, this continues to be an issue. They suspend the cards without notice, they try to force duplicate payments over the phone in order to access the account, it's absolute insanity and should be illegal how these clowns operate. It's difficult to get any customer service person on the phone, when you do, it's difficult to understand them and they only know how to say they're sorry but can't do anything to correct their issues, only take extra payments over the phone- like they're reading from a script and it's the only thing they know how to say. There is absolutely no integrity in that company whatsoever.

This has been a very frustrating situation for both my husband and me. He was let go from the company that he worked for for 39 years and had to go on cobra so that we could have health insurance. Things weren't too bad until I was able to go on Medicare in November. From there, WEX has been nothing but a huge mess. We are set up on auto pay and in December the correct amount was taken out. In January, somehow, I was reinstated and they were trying to take our the full amount for both of us. I called and asked them to go back through their records showing the paperwork where I should have been terminated. Which, the person I spoke to said she was going to take care of this immediately. No payment on their end was taken out of our account So, my husband only made a partial payment for himself by mail. However, because he only made a partial payment in January, he was terminated at the beginning of February. Now it will take at least 7 days to get him reinstated. This is the fourth time that we have had to call them and they have created a new case. This company is nothing but a complete mess. No one must follow through on the cases that are creating. Someone from higher management needs to take a look at what their customer services representatives are doing. I have worked customer service and I know there is a que that these cases have to be falling under. Someone is not doing their job. There is no reason my husband should be without insurance and have to cancel Dr appointments.
Unbelievable!
Unbelievable!! Just trying to close my HSA and have the funds distributed to a different HSA... One would think this would be so easy... NOT WITH WEX! They give you email addresses to submit the form that are no longer monitored and they don't have a process that everyone in customer service is aware of. I was told to fill out a form and email it in. The form is apparently outdated with an email address that is NO LONGER MONITORED!! OK, call into customer service and get another email... SURPRISE, THAT ONE IS NO LONGER MONITORED (and I asked the representative 3 TIMES to confirm it is being monitored. Love sending emails with secure information to mailboxes that AREN'T MONITORED!! HORRIBLE COMPANY... ZERO STARS IS MORE LIKE IT!!!!
WEX has road side assistance
WEX has road side assistance. When I needed a tow, they first told me about $400 to tow my truck. I told them do not tow without my permission and a price.. I got another quote for $270. I called them back asking for the actual price of their tow. They did not know. I then got a call from their tow company telling me they were about there for my tow. I called Wex Back. Told them not to tow without a price. They told me to call the tow company because they did not know. I called the tow company for them to tell me, they cannot give me a price, I was not their customer, WEX was. I called WEX back and they told me around $60. Yes, I took thought it was to good to be true but I also thought it was a good thing I had the road side asst. Long story, not quite so long, I let them tow. I then get a bill for $438. I called several times and was told I would get a refund in 90 days. The amount of time you cannot do a charge back. It took two months of fighting and they did not even return half the money. I told them to listen to the recorded phone calls. They said id have to take them to court and the case was closed.

Why can’t I give 0 stars? I have a problem with setting up my account and there is absolutely no way to get through to a human being and they are not replying to the support ticket. Absolutely ridiculously bad service.
