Awful
Awful. I bought my car insurance through them then could not create an account due to a fault on their end. Ive since tried to do this and cant so i now cannot access any of my documents. Not a good start. So far would not recomend

Marmalade has the worst customer…
Marmalade has the worst customer service - endless letters threatening to cancel your insurance for no reason which is unsettling when you are 22 years old ! You have to let them know if you are NOT driving the car otherwise you get another letter threatening to cancel your Very expensive new driver policy !! They won’t call you back if you have any concerns - you have to call them back with any issues. Very time consuming and unsatisfactory.

I really wouldn’t recommend Marmalade…
I really wouldn’t recommend Marmalade black box insurance. It might look cheap when you first take the policy out, but the black box is ridiculously sensitive and unforgiving, especially with braking, cornering and acceleration.
I received a red journey today, with one of the things I was marked down for being braking by 17mph over 4 seconds. There are so many normal situations on the road where you have to brake or accelerate differently because of traffic, other drivers, roundabouts, bends etc., and I feel like I’m constantly worrying about what my black box is going to score me for.
I called Marmalade about it and was told that if I receive another red journey I could have to pay an additional premium of around £100–£200. It feels extremely harsh when the system is already so sensitive.
For me, it feels like a policy that looks cheap initially but can end up costing you more because of how strict the black box scoring is. I understand penalising genuinely dangerous driving, but I think the system needs to be much more realistic about everyday driving situations.
I definitely wish I had known how strict it was before taking out the policy, so I’d recommend other young drivers properly research the red journey system before choosing Marmalade.
