We have just returned from Egypt where we travelled from Cairo to Aswan with the Travel Department. We saw so many incredible places. We cannot fault this trip. Everything was perfectly organised and coordinated from start to finish. We were met by a friendly member of the Travel Department when we landed in Cairo and Luxor airports. Our bus drivers were amazing and they put in long days driving in busy traffic.
Our tour guide, Dodi, was fabulous. He was professional and extremely knowledgeable and he spoke perfect English. He entertained us with his sense of humour! Dodi took care of our group really well and made the effort to remember all our names. We felt safe at all times and didn't have to think for ourselves at all!
The river boat experience was very pleasant and intimate. Plenty of food was laid on at each meal time and staff throughout the boat were lovely.

If we have anything negative to say it would be that we would have loved another 15 or 20 minutes at the Abu Simbel temples and at Karnak and Luxor temples. Also, the sound and light show in Philae Temple is nice but not worth the money. You're not missing much if you opt out of this excursion.
Tip: Don't bother bringing Egyptian Pounds. Euro and US Dollars are preferred.

Our recent trip to Egypt was wonderful. Our guide Emad Fathey, (Dodi), was excellent, very knowledgeable in history and culture. It was very well organised and thoroughly enjoyable.

Unfortunately missed GEM by a few days but saw lots. Our guide Emad Fathy (Dodi) was a kind, fun, efficient and very knowledgeable guide. We were all well cared for. Cairo hotel was great and I enjoyed the museum trips. Lunch the first day went on a bit too long. Seeing the pyramids and having photos was fun. I went inside which was physically tough but worth it. The highlight for me was the river cruise and seeing all the temple sites and the Valley of the Kings. The boat was very homely and comfortable. The evenings were fun and watching the world go by from the deck was beautiful. Hurgada was a nice rest and change of pace. I would strongly recommend the optional trip to Anu Simbel, the hot air balloon trip and the snorkelling trip. Everyone we met were friendly and welcoming.
A couple of negatives: Egypt is very dirty which was a shock, the planes from Egyptair were also very dirty, pace of the trip although expected was tough lots of early nights and walking on uneven surfaces in hot sun, food was adequate and a few people got sick - I avoided salads and was fine, on occasions better information on the boat would have helped.
Overall it was a great trip with a great guide and I would highly recommend it.

I have been on a number of TD escorted trips as a solo traveller and have to say that the Western Canada and the Rockies tour was an unforgettable experience. Our guide, Carol, and bus driver, Pat, were exceptional. The views were stunning, the photo stops very welcome, and the excursions top notch.

I’ve recently returned from a wonderful holiday to India with The Travel Department — perfectly organised from start to finish. Flights, transfers, hotels and food were all excellent.
Our guide, Anurag, was outstanding. His explanations of India’s history, culture and traditions were fascinating, and his timing and organisation made every day effortless. He looked after everyone with genuine care, humour and professionalism — I always felt completely safe and well cared for.
Special thanks to Rajendra (driver) and Satchin (bus assistant) for their hard work and kindness.
Highlights included Diwali celebrations, a tiger safari, the rickshaw ride and, of course, the breathtaking Taj Mahal and other historic sites.
A superb trip and highly recommended!

We have just returned from our trip to Beijing & the Great Wall. From the initial booking process right through to the end of our trip I have nothing but compliments for the Travel Department. The flights, hotel, tours…everything was so well organised. While there our guide Angela was absolutely amazing…her passion for her heritage, and her historical knowledge really enhanced our overall experience. She looked after us so well from arrival to departure. Thank you again Angela for an amazing experience.

The Hotel was excellent and the staff were very helpful. Great location close to the beach. The food was very good and the nightly entertainment was excellent. The only complaint I would have was…the flights they were very late both going and returning.

Travel arrangements very good. Guide lovely and helpful. Tours very interesting in Montenegro and Albania. Hotel was good. Weather was mixed and transfer from the airport to hotel was long but that was not Travel Departments fault. The crowd on the tour were friendly and happy.

Great food,variety,tea and coffee wiith evening meal.Homely atmoshere in hotel.Staff helpful and friendly.Suggestion for guides,less information better and describe a place when in view or having arrived there.

Trip to India exceeded my expectations. Our guide Anu was superb, it was easy to relax and enjoy the whole experience with him looking out for us and taking care of everything. A very busy schedule but I would not have wanted to miss a single thing. Great value and look forward to to my next trip with the Travel Department

Our guide was super Andrea- and all was well in general good -fish fur example was dried up by the time we got to dinner -u think we had a later time to dine that others.. so food in general was fine.. would have preferred a paper ticket fur the airport -and I know the trend is going ticketless but it’s more stressful for us seniors having to rely on phones etc… please tell me there is another way - also I think the single room supplement will play a role in our planning another group trip going forward - it is definitely becoming too expensive for us single ladies … there it is girls - the honest truth..

This was a holiday of a lifetime. Our guide Anurag Misra was excellent. His knowledge, enthusiasm and passion was outstanding. He couldn’t do enough for us. Our driver and bus boy were both fantastic.Travel Dept put on an excellent itinerary. The hotels were fabulous and India was incredible. Would definitely recommend this trip.

Everything was already organised by T Dept, we just turned up n enjoyed. Our guide Jeremy Poole was superb, so knowledgable n patient, our driver Laurence, so competent n funny n clearly loved being with us. Tours, experiences, hotels, food etc all superb. Safari was amazing - out of this world, picnic in the woods was magical, champagne breakfast on last morning, so special. We loved everything. Thanks T Dept.

We re bigTD fans having had the most amazing South Africa trip previously , amazing scenery , every day an adventure finished off with incredible safari . Unfortunately Sri Lanka did not come anywhere near .
Sri Lanka began badly with a 10 minute trip to a fishing village ,where the smell put us off fish for the trip ,followed by a sleep in the hotel lobby as we waited for rooms to be made ready , surely we could have visited somewhere nearby whilst this was happening, the next days became a Temple fest ( 5 I think) and we Became truly templed out , this needs looking at ,and reducing ,as all were very similar , hotels were lovely , food looked amazing at both breakfast and dinner times ,buffet style , but was Luke warm at best in all venues bar the Blackpool Hotel ,these meals became something to be got through and not the pleasurable experience you would expect ,the days were long with dense forestation on both sides of the road and little to see. I was really looking forward to the safari part but again the dense vegetation meant little to see for long periods and nothing like our South African adventure, We’re now home yesterday and personally I’m quite disappointed with the trip ,

A well organised holiday from start to finish taking in all the important sites and expertly guided by the experienced Dodi (110 Travel Dept guided tours of the Nile!!) Dodi took care of all 39 of us. He imparted just the right amount of information for us to absorb and appreciate. We had some early starts but this was balanced by a good amount of leisure time on board the boat and in Hurghada. The boat was comfortable but there was an issue with keeping food hot. The resort in Hurghada was very good and conducive to relaxation.
MY TIP: Don't skip the tour of Karnak Temple in Luxor ...we saw it on our 9th day and as some people were "temple tired" they decided to stay on board the boat. In my opinion it was the best of them all ...very impressive!
