We had a wonderful trip to South africa. The tour guide and fellow travellers were fantastic .The hotels,staff tours etc were excellent and I loved the safari and our guides and drivers there were excellent and went out of their way to show us everything. Fab trip from start to finish.

A well organised and well researched extensive tour of China, with a superb, highly experienced and knowledgeable tour guide, Richard Huo. Cannot recommend enough to anyone considering exploring the wonderful sights of China. We will remember it forever.

Wonderful trip to South Africa in November 2025. The adventure started when we went to the top of Table Mountain between leaving the airport and arriving at our hotel. Our excellent guide, Cerika, ensured we saw many animals during the tour from Cape Town, along the famous Garden Route to Kareiga Game Reserve. We saw many animals including snakes, whales, penguins, elephants, hippos, giraffes, rhinos, lions and many more. Maxwell, the bus driver, was an excellent safe driver with comfortable bus for some of the longer days travelling. Those days were well planned with frequent stops at interesting places such as farm shop, art & crafts stores. The Game Reserve was a highlight and provided lots of unexpected but much enjoyed surprises! Singing and dancing around the campfire was great craic. Food and accommodation were great throughout the trip. Unexpected extra hours in Johannesburg on layover was managed by the Travel Department who arranged tour of Soweto, visiting Nelson Mandela's home and Constitution Hill. Great trip!

On our recent trip to China I would like to highlight the Travel Department's amazing local guide, Richard. He was fantastic - was so knowledgeable about every location, had such passion for his country and it's amazing history and heritage and had excellent logistics skills. Richard had great English and an equally great sense of humour. He really contributed to a fantastic holiday. Thanks Richard!

I returned last week from a fabulous 11 day trip to the Golden Triangle and would heartily recommend The Travel Department. The value for money is amazing when you consider all transport, lovely hotels, breakfasts, dinners and entry fees to the various places of interest are included. Our friendly guide Rahi had an amazing depth of knowledge on Indian history and provided fascinating and very interesting insight into how people once lived, at every sight we visited. The whole trip was very well organised and great value for money. 5 out of 5!

Just returned from an absolutely wonderful trip around India's golden triangle with the Travel Department. It exceded all my expectations, and this was due to our guide, Rahi Raza. He ensured everything ran smoothly, so all we had to do was turn up. His knowledge of the history of the places we visited was exceptional, he brought each place to life with his words. He was endlessly patient, taking time to answer all our questions, and provided us with a new perspective of India. He had a great passion for his country, and we all left with a far greater appreciation for the wonder that is India.
I cannot recommend this trip highly enough, it was exceptional. The hotels were perfect, the food was amazing, and all the people we met were so helpful, and kind.

Just returned from the golden triangle India trip . It was way beyond my expectations . Travel department looked after us so well up to a late check out in our hotel . In particular though it was amazing due to our fabulous guide Rahi Raza who was a fountain of knowledge on India’s amazing temples , palaces forts and culture . He completely made our trip , and looked after us so well . Such an ambassador for the travel department ! Thank you Rahi .

It was great. We had a fab guide Rahi , he was an encyclopaedia of knowledge. He looked after us all very well and was so friendly. The bus driver and his assistant were also very good. I couldn’t fault anything about our trip and I would recommend Rahi as a tour guide to anyone . All round it was an amazing trip with a brilliant guide.

Just bck from Vietnam / Cambodia trip… was just great! We had a great group .. all got on very well Hieu our guide in Vietnam was amazing… so full knowledge… was always on hand to give advice etc! Khet our guide in Vietnam great also… all trips so well organised… Lovly hotels… lot flgts.. overall a great experience…..our 4th trip with travel dept… probably our best! Jennifer & Liam

During the year we visited Cinque Terre in Italy with Travel Department. The local Tour Guide Giulia was particularly helpful. As a Guide myself I know that the two key requirements are content and communication. Giulia knew lots and lots of relevant information and she knew how to communicate this to her guests. She really helped to make it a great holiday.

FANTASTIC. This was our first trip with Travel Dept. We were pleased to have everything arranged which meant we got to experience so much more. No worries about tickets, transport, times, etc. We had 35 people in our group. Our group had several seasoned Travel Dept.(TD) customers who travelled with TD several times before. They highly recommended TD, which was very reassuring.

This was a full-on trip with early starts but had to be to fit in everything. Be prepared for experiences to test your senses and emotions. But there were opportunities for down time also.

Our guide was Gertie who was so great! She really brought group together. As she lived in area she could give a lot of tips, info, recommendations. She arranged a GP visit for one guest who fell ill. She left no one behind.

Solomon, our driver, made journeys safe and comfortable. He felt like part of our group.

Our safari stay was as Kariega Game Reserve. After a visit here we probably won't visit a zoo again. AK was our driver, so informative, knowledgeable and pointed out BIG and small game. There were 2 drives daily - 06.00 and 15.00- for 4 hours. Forget late nights. Always wear layers, cool mornings soon become warm.

Advice: Experience everything.
Wear layers.
Take enough memory for photos.
Cash & card are good.
ENJOY the trip.

We had a amazing holiday from start to finish. Our guide Jack was great he actually made the trip with his irish and his singing, everyone was looked after and no one was a pain in the butt. The weather was very good everyday in the twenties. The hotels, food, service was amazing. The trips were very well organised and the extra trips were well worth it.

Thoroughly enjoyed the Beijing to Shanghai tour. Richard, our guide for the whole trip, was a key highlight. Warm and knowledgable he perfectly balanced educating and entertaining.

Hotels were great. Meals ok. We had a great group… and learning about each other was as much a part as of the tour as seeing China.

The 3 night cruise was a welcome ‘break’. The tour is intense… not so much a holiday as an adventure. Was great to see a mix of city and rural life.

Very pleased overall with the Travel Department. Thank you to the team and Richard.

Always a great time

We have just returned from Egypt where we travelled from Cairo to Aswan with the Travel Department. We saw so many incredible places. We cannot fault this trip. Everything was perfectly organised and coordinated from start to finish. We were met by a friendly member of the Travel Department when we landed in Cairo and Luxor airports. Our bus drivers were amazing and they put in long days driving in busy traffic.
Our tour guide, Dodi, was fabulous. He was professional and extremely knowledgeable and he spoke perfect English. He entertained us with his sense of humour! Dodi took care of our group really well and made the effort to remember all our names. We felt safe at all times and didn't have to think for ourselves at all!
The river boat experience was very pleasant and intimate. Plenty of food was laid on at each meal time and staff throughout the boat were lovely.

If we have anything negative to say it would be that we would have loved another 15 or 20 minutes at the Abu Simbel temples and at Karnak and Luxor temples. Also, the sound and light show in Philae Temple is nice but not worth the money. You're not missing much if you opt out of this excursion.
Tip: Don't bother bringing Egyptian Pounds. Euro and US Dollars are preferred.
