"We’re unable to provide you with your credit report online at this time"

Having come out of my mobile contract, I signed up for a new contract and phone, but my purchase was cancelled a few hours later. I tried some other providers, but all the orders were cancelled a few hours after being placed.

Investigating the ratings companies, Experian and Equifax quickly found my details and, being over 45 with a mortgage, on the electoral roll, in no other debt etc, both rated my credit as good or excellent.

Transunion, however, wouldn't let me access my file at all. I applied for a paper credit report, and a day later received an email saying it will take 28 days.

I called them to try and resolve the situation. They said they are unable to explain why my account is not accessible online.

This is a shocking way for a company to operate. With a large amount of power over people's lives should come great care and responsibility. However TransUnion have so far failed to deal with the problem with the urgency it requires

It is unreasonable in this day and age to expect someone to operate without access to any online credit or purchasing, so to take 28 days to even provide a paper report is unacceptable.

They have now sent an email saying the paper credit report will be with my in 7 working days.

However, the email says, "We’re unable to provide you with your credit report online at this time. I can’t tell you exactly why the system has failed to verify your details on this occasion as our security process is confidential." Since this offers no way to redress the fact that my online account remains inaccessable, my next step will be to complain to the financial ombudsman.

Absolute waste of my time speaking to customer advisors who are as useful as a Chocolate Teapot.

Unhelpful and rude. This comapny is an absolute joke

Despite complaining and being promised…

Despite complaining and being promised answers nothing has been done in way of an apology or correction to their rating of me. Experian rates my score as 1250 out of 1250
To think that companies actually pay this company for credit scores! If their credit ratings for bad creditors are as good as they are for honest ones they are welcome to supply them with credit.

They are well established

They are well established. With every details of your credit score and they will explain exactly what causes your credit score, up and down, and give you support and advice to help to achieve better credit score, and they will alert you for any wrong doing in your bank account.

False information on credit file

My brother's maxed out credit card and current account is showing on my credit file though trans union and nowhere else, I reported this mistake and it hasn't been fixed, it's so horrible for my credit score and even lists my brother's name on the account.

NOT fit for purpose Trans Union

This is the organisation that other companies use to base there decisions on giving us credit. Yet the information is 4-6 weeks old. I am a bit surprised as to why nobody has raised a GDPR case against this company and as data protection keeping information up to date it's non-existent Furthermore I asked another question. Which they have totally ignored it seems that Trans Union are very happy with past performance. As you can see everybody is literally criticising the company. They seem to be very proud of the one star poor rating. Well done on your total incompetence. More interested in offering other services than keeping data up to date.

Repeated Incorrect Reporting of Settled Account as Default

I’ve had an extremely frustrating experience with TransUnion. An account that was settled back in 2021 has been repeatedly reported as “Default” on my credit file, even after I raised multiple disputes and received email confirmation from TransUnion themselves that it had been corrected to “Settled.”

I’ve had to dispute the same error several times over the last few years, and each time I was told it was resolved — only for the incorrect default to reappear again. Other credit agencies corrected the issue immediately, so this seems to be an ongoing problem specific to TransUnion.

This repeated inaccuracy has caused unnecessary stress, wasted time, and potential impact on my creditworthiness. It’s extremely disappointing that a company trusted with handling sensitive financial data cannot maintain accurate records or provide a lasting resolution.

Based on my experience, I’ve completely lost confidence in their ability to manage personal information correctly.

I'm deeply disatisfied with the…

I'm deeply disatisfied with the response to my query which didn't need to turn into a complaint. Indeed, it wouldn't have if Transunion had taken the time and effort to deal with this in a timely rather than a snail's pace.
Your "resolution" is based on false premises

1) When i initially made contact weeks ago via the resolver platform it was to ask you to contact capital one. No response was given for over 2 weeks until I made a complaint
2) It is no wonder capital one have possibly solved the problem in the mean time as you took so long to respond and didn't contact them when I asked you to
3) I followed this up to ask you to challenge capital one and as before you were so slow in your response that they may have resolved it no thanks to you
4) You should make it clear that using a vpn will cause the application for a statutory credit report to fail
5) It is actually ridiculous that is the case as a vpn is a standard piece of software used to help prevent companies such as yours from spamming me with advertising etc
6) I will not under any circumstances be providing a driving licence or passport as identification as this is not compulsory and I am not required to own them or show them to any one except for the purposes of driving or for travelling abroad
7) I will not be proving any documentation by email attachment to ask me to do is ridiculous. That is not at all secure
8) Any forms of identification provided will only be sent in the post
9) I will be leaving a very negative review on trust pilot
Do not attempt to get it taken down
10) I will be contacting my solicitors with a view to potential legal action
11) I will be escalating the 2 complaints to the ombudsman as they were made separately
12) I will be contacting the ICO
13) I will not be making or accepting any phone calls over this as I have a vocal disability called muscle tension dysphonia
14) You have been advised of this once (see above) so any requests to do so will be considered harassment
15) Any such requests will result in legal action

Is this actually a company? Absolutely ridiculous in trying to access information, impossible to challenge data and I question if they are actually handling data correctly and legally.

Absolutely terrible

Absolutely terrible, made a complaint… they took many days to respond and when they did eventually respond they gave a robotic response and they did not address any of my issues . Pointless waste of time!

Transunion have incorrectly tagged a CCJ

Transunion have incorrectly tagged a CCJ to my file. This CCJ was issued to a completely different individual but Transunion have put this against my record - This is now negatively impacting my life and my personal family because of their mistake.

They do not understand the consequences of such an error and the impact this has on people’s lives! I have been told to raise a complaint and wait up to a further 28days for a response. All whilst my credit score has been tarnished.

Negligence and a lack of due diligence from this company has caused this error. A simple look into the CCJ and you can see this has a completely different individuals name. Very poor from them and no offer of support when getting through via telephone.

The other 2 credit agencies experian and equifax - have correctly not reported this against my file as this has NOTHING TO DO WITH ME !

Totally incompetent

Totally incompetent. Stored incorrect information and failed to rectify it in compliance of Data Protection. Complaint pending to Financial Ombudsman. Documentary Proof sent to them and failed to protect my imformation

Not answering my question

Extremely dissapointed with them. I somehow failed an identity check to buy something through shop. I asked them for help with it and they have repeadely failed to answer that question while sending me my credit report. Not once have they given me any useful advice on how to get passed the issue.

Total distrust in their data model

For a few months now my Statutory Report is incorrect missing major information. Everything is is gone, from electoral roll to cards and loans. I have contacted TransUnion multiple times and just get a auto response with links to download the report and check again.
