I would give this company -10 Stars if…
I would give this company -10 Stars if I could. 2 hours it took to get to the point of them actually giving me my offer. At this point the offered me £800 less than their original locked in offer. This purely based off of a warp on my arm rest and lines, not scratches, on my bonnet. Talk about reaching. Then they decided actually because their own vin reader machine did not work that they could not buy the car. Then I was offered part payment of my car for now. Absolute cowboy service. AVOID AVOID AVOID.!!

We’re already aware of the circumstances, as quite a few of our team in the office was working hard to try to make this collection work for you. Unfortunately, we encountered several unexpected hurdles, and we understand that time was critical for you that day.
For vehicles above a certain value, we require a specialised “Blue” VIN reader to confirm there are no fault codes that could affect the saleability of the car — this is something we explain during the booking process. On this occasion, the driver arrived with a lower-spec reader, which could not display those codes. This created a difficult situation, as proceeding without that confirmation would have been a significant risk for us.
We also noted some minor damage to the vehicle that hadn’t been anticipated. This was reviewed with our valuations team, and a revised offer was discussed with you which both parties were happy.
The options we proposed at the time were:
Pay 80% of the agreed amount immediately, take the vehicle to our site for VIN checks, and pay the balance the same day if no codes were found; or
Return the following day with the correct reader and leave the car with you overnight.
We understand neither option worked for you on the day, and as a result, we unfortunately had to step away — which was disappointing for both sides, as we genuinely wanted to buy your vehicle.
We’d still very much like the opportunity to complete the purchase this week, and our promise remains the same: the price we agree is the price you’ll receive. Additionally, we’d like to offer a goodwill gesture for the inconvenience caused, which we’d be happy to discuss directly with you.
Please let us know a convenient time for our contact centre manager to give you a call.
Thank you again for bringing this to our attention. Even when feedback is difficult to hear, it helps us improve our service.

Got quotes from these guys aswell as competitors I was 49mins off my appointment time with a competitor when James from the Normanton branch called with the offer and stated freely and openly to still attend my appointment with the rival as it was past their drop off time after 4pm promised me that his quote wouldn't change regardless and arranged for me to deliver my car the next morning at opening price quoted was the price paid and yes James was right the rivals did try lower the price where the car buying group honoured their quote and paid instantly without all the silly admin fees

These people provide a horrible service. They reduced my price by £500 last minute and said they cannot pay for my car unless it is on the trailer. They also took over an hour to finalise everything. Honestly a horrible service i do not recommend

Disgraceful end result with CBG
Disgraceful end result with CBG. A beautiful, fully historied, mint vehicle that ran like clockwork was deemed by 'people' at CBG (via a video from the collection agents, who were great) to 'not be running quite right' and the valuation/offer was actually withdrawn over the phone. The agents could hear nothing, and were just as shocked as I was. I would think twice about trusting these guys. Terrible. And quite devious.

Call these guys on Monday for a quote ….which was 600 more than we buy any car !! They don’t take you down you send pictures they give you a quote, my car got collected today by a lovely man I waited for them to check the quote and they paid out exactly what they promised, money was in my account in 15 mins, thanks to Jake Green at the car buying group you were amazing and answered all my questions, this place beats any others hands down

Very positive experience
Lovely people - have used them before. Megan Sykes in the main office was a delight & Peter who collected the car was lovely too. The accounts department was very efficient and called when about to make the payment into our account and then again when it had gone through to check we could see it. Would highly recommend. They gave us a very fair price and didn’t alter it in any way after it was agreed because we were honest with our answers.

Many promises too many price changes
At first so helpful and promising best prices. By the time of pick-up they had reduced the price by £2500 on original offer, for minor issues. Refused to sell on the grounds we were duped.
Not Recommended.
We had it checked by ford motors and it was a service light which was done for less than £100.
Nothing else was found. Wrong

I’ve looked into this matter in detail. When we first arranged to collect your vehicle, it was based on the understanding that there were no warning lights present, and the engine had no abnormal noises. However, upon arrival, our team found that the engine management light was illuminated. This can indicate a range of potential issues, and for safety and policy reasons, we are unable to allow our drivers to drive vehicles displaying such warnings.
On the second collection attempt, our driver started the engine and noticed it was noisier than expected and shaking excessively in the engine bay, which raised further concerns about the vehicle’s condition.
We understand this may have been frustrating, but our priority is the safety of our staff and ensuring we can stand by the vehicles we purchase. If you have any questions or would like to discuss this further, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
