Here we go ago yet again !!

Here we go ago yet again !!! Another day of slow running trains from Brighton into London. The trains are dirty and seats uncomfortable !!! Really poor service - thankfully do not have to go this everyday !!!

High prices for a shocking service

London prices for a third world service.

Shoddy, overpriced and above all very very unreliable service.

I have been commuting from Welwyn garden city to london 2-4 times a week over the last year.

The service has been highly unreliable. That is very bad news if you’re depending on it for a living.

The number of reasons for last minute cancellations is breathtaking.

Failed points. Track distorted. Yes yes I know that I’d theoretically railtrack’s fault. But as the user of the service I don’t really care. Their poor suppliers are their problem!

But the list goes on.

And as for “not enough train crew” there is no excuse.

By definition since these are trains and they (allegedly) run to a timetable, Thameslink knows exactly what crew is needed exafrly when. Months in advance.

If the primary crew is sick, they should have backup people. This is a railway not a coffee shop. Millions of us depend on it for work or to see family. It should be taken seriously by the people who operate it.

Thameslink take huge money from commuters, and they should spend some of it on proper rolling stock and adequate staffing.

I would say that about 1 time in 6 to 1 in 8 one of the trains on my journey gets cancelled. Personally I think that’s absolutely shocking.

The rest of the time the trains are more or les okay but last minute delays can easily be up to 20 minutes. Which in effect means I have to catch one train earlier than the one I actually want if I want to reliably get to work in time.

Again shoddy disappinting and enormously time wasting.

Altogether my grade is; fail.

If someone else gave me this service I would instantly fire them.

If I gave this service to my clients likewise I’d expect to be fired pretty swiftly.

If privatisation had given us commuters actual choices between service providers, the market would have canned these jokers decades ago.

As it is, it just gave jokers like Thameslink a licence to make money without providing anything close to the service they are literally promising in black and white to deliver

Shoddy, disappinting and - in a well run country- unacceptable.

Cheaters and thieves.

Cheaters and thieves.

Just avoid them, the drivers rarely turn up now they get paid more.

They also cancel trains, and then reject the delay repay, because there is a train operated by another service which we can’t get on, that they use to cheat us out of our money.

Fire all the drivers, and the. Automate the system.

It’s 2025, I shouldn’t be late for work due to drivers who would rather hit snooze.

Would give them negative starts if I could.

They are a joke.

Awful train service

Awful train service. If it isn't strikes, it's delays. If it isn't delays, it's cancellations. If it isn't cancellations, it is signalling issues. If it isn't signalling issues, it's weather conditions (look out, a flying leaf!). The trains are cramped, dated, dirty and quite frankly, if I didn't HAVE to use their trainline, I would happily not. I actively try to use LNER where I can to avoid using Thameslink. Cannot put across in words how outrageously frustrating they are to use. The rage they invoke is unrivalled.

Thameslink: Unreliable, Cheap plus BTEC Version of Southern

Thameslink is literally the same as Southern but extends to the North, the seats on here are as hard as a rock & tight legroom if you can’t get a 4 seater, you at least need two seats between you if your taller then 5’9, The prices are cheaper then Southern thankfully but you pay the price because you then have more people using this train to Gatwick Airport again as I mentioned in my Southern Review, Gatwick Express needs cheaper pricing to shift people to & from the airport & only for them, I’m not being ignorant but that’s what most people use Southern & Thameslink for & the rest are squashed in because of this. Trains are frequent but cancelled at the same rate. No chargers are provided in Standard but your allowed to charge your phone in the rear first class carriage in the train & sit there with a standard ticket but does anyone care no as most people who don’t have first class tickets sit in the front first class carriage anyway, wifi doesn’t work properly too.

I bought a return ticket to Luton…

I bought a return ticket to Luton Airport Parkway, only to be charged double for the shuttle because of their new “Dart” service. To make matters worse, on my return to London, I discovered there are no trains running until the New Year, and they’ve replaced them with buses from Hitchin to London. What a nightmare during the festive season! National Rail services in London are falling apart—I’m really disappointed!

Govia Thameslink worse rail company ever

I have been travelling to London Kings Cross from Royston for 38 years. The service used to be excellent until Govia Thameslink/Great Northern took on the Franchise. The service is now so bad with uncomfortable and many cancellations. It is now so bad that I can no longer trust them. We used to have such comfortable trains but now we have worse trains on the whole network. The journey times are slower with more stops. The only good thing is that now the trains go to Brighton. But only if you can get there!!

Thames link cancellations

Arrived Heathrow early Saturday morning needed to travel to Letchworth Garden City got train via Elizabeth line all was good then got to Farringdon Trains and services cancelled had to wait nearly an hour and pay nearly £70 for a single fare. Service from Thameslink bloody poor

Had to give one star but definitely not worth it , yet again train cancelled due to lack of train staff !!! what a shower of s hit this company is worst out of the lot sack the MD take the drivers pay rises back because they are not preforming 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡

Thank you Catherine at customer services, I completely mucked up my ticket booking and as an advance purchase didn’t qualify for a refund, but somehow managed to get her manager to sort it out for me, and now have booked the correct tickets, your a superstar, thank you for saving my wedding anniversary trip.

85% of services delayed in 3 years

Morning trains heading north from London Bridge via St Pancras are unbelievably unreliable. In the past three years 85% of morning trains via St Pancras have been delayed by more than 8 minutes or cancelled. My colleagues at TFL had hoped Thameslink would relieve pressure on London Bridge underground but it has actually significantly worsened it leading to dangerous levels of overcrowding on a daily basis 6 mornings a week.

An absolute disgrace of a train company

An absolute disgrace of a train company. The government should step in and take their franchise away. My train home in the evening (Welwyn Garden City to Sevenoaks) is either cancelled at short notice or is very late almost every day. The drivers don't care enough to either apologise to the passengers or even explain why the train is late. The fraction of fare that delay repay gives back is an embarrassment compared to the stress that using Thameslink causes.

Travel by any other means necessary

Travel by any possible other means. ANY OTHER MEANS. Travel by donkey if you must. Or just walk! I’d rather walk on all fours than ride the Thameslink. It will be faster. The last time my Thameslink train arrived on time was 3 years ago. Today it didn’t arrive at all. I’m literally stuck. I spend over £400 a month on cabs because of Thameslink. They’re so incompetent that when they go on strike the trains run more efficiently.

The train standards are appalling

The train standards are appalling. Trains are always filthy, seat are dirty and smells terrible.
During the winter the heating system is off and during summer there is no aircon.
Thameslink amalgamated Great Northern and ruined their line. Their trains are spotless, clean and had comfy seats. Thameslink is milking the customers but providing cheap service. A massive improvement is needed ASAP.

1000% unbelievable garbage service

1000% unbelievable garbage service. I needed a toilet in an emergency 10.30pm Saturday 16th November. I used 4 different information points. Sent all over the station and ended in severe medical pain, same person on the information answer button at least twice. Having found toilets tried to see time of train home. Just flashing blank on platform number. EVERY SINGLE MEMBER OF STAFF LOOKED AT FLOOR OR LOOKED AWAY WHEN ASKED FOR HELP. A disgusting and despicable service, managers will be wholly aware of. The Company should not operate, I encountered perhaps 10 different staff members and all exactly the same. Please God this Company goes out of business and quickly, I understand that individuals are often so much better than the Company as a whole. In this instance NO, 100% appalling and obviously permeates downwards from garbage overpaid seniors to staff who are evidently above even speaking to customers. WHY IS YOUR BUSINESS ALLOWED TO EVEN EXIST?

Thameslink: a ballad of cancellations

It used to be that Thameslink was a great service. Lots of trains. Ran like clockwork. Fast service. Since COVID though utterly awful. It can't go a week with out cancellations and/ delays. We aren't talking the odd cancellation/ small delays either. Utterly falls down. Every. Single. Week.

I recently made the switch to home working, actively choosing to drop my London weighting, purely because of this service.

Now on the rare occasion I have to go in, like today, it cancels out any regret I had about making the switch. Every time delayed and cancelled.

They blame network rail for a lot of the issues but truth is it is that they are effectively leasing that infrastructure and they absolutely have the ability to put pressure on network rail if they wanted.

The most inconvenient mode of transport

Train got slower and slower at every stop, losing time until we were 40 minutes behind schedule. Then it was announced that the train was being cancelled at the next stop and everyone would have to get off. No explanation, no compensation possible, no assistance.

If any other company behaved like this it would go out of business, especially at this cost per ticket.
