I think these people stay on your HMRC account forever !! Then demand money if you remove them guys ! I applied 2 years ago and nothing happened so thought nothing of it , now yesterday I get a letter saying I’m about to receive 1700 from HMRC (I knew this already because I only worked part of that year so expected something) they’ve now jumped on this saying I need to send them 39% of that fee and when I email them I get rude emails back saying they will send Baylif’s over if I don’t pay and if I want them off my account then they will need £100 plus’s VAT - they are a group of scammers for sure … should I pay them or fight it?!!!? Unsure

Scammers!!!!! They basically ask for the refund from HMRC on your behalf, take 39%!!! YES 39% fee!!!! And then pay you the rest. I was due £190 tax rebate, fell for this scam!! And then they only paid me £58 of it. Took the rest as fees!!!

Avoid at all costs. They invoice you 3 months after you receive a rebate from HMRC and want it paying within 2 weeks. Sent a cheque to them and a week later still not been cashed. Emailed them twice to see if they had the cheque and nothing back. Rang the phone number and no option to speak with anyone. And before you know it you get an email from a debt collection company requiring payment on behalf of Rebate Gateway

Hiding behind various anon email addresses, but the main guy's name is out there. Rude, illiterate customer service who won't own their failures.

Please under no circumstances use this company. They are quite frankly the worst company I've ever come into contact with. Service is deplorable and whoever is in charge of the company has obviously authorised the staff to treat customers horrendously. Received a letter from them months after I've received a tax rebate demanding money. I had no idea it was anything to do with them as I've not heard anything from them in years. I've asked for signed proof and date of consent and they refuse to send me it and threatening court action if I don't pay. All I'm asking for is proof. I've asked for a subject access request and they won't do it saying I'm doing it maliciously lol. Don't touch this shower of conmen at all. Worst company ever. If I could award 0 stars then I would.

Rude absolute disgusting customer service told me I owed 335 for a service they said I had applied for within the last 2 months I asked for the original application and they sent it but it was dated 6th December 2023 not within the last two months as they stated and they would not even entertain answering this but as I recently got a small rebate from hmrc through hmrc directly they are saying I owe it to them and they are abusive threatening and totally disgusting will not sign emails so know who this abusive person is will not help and continue to be rude I am currently seeking advice from citizens advice

Do not use this company. They are fake! I had the letter come through to my address so like most people completed the form to then find out what it was like, fake and trying to con people out of money. So I cancel! When I cancelled I get a rude and insulting email back.

I told this “company” the details they have for me are not from myself and are fraudulent and i received back a very rude and threatening email back bringing up my personal financial situation. They left no name who the email was off and told me my email did not “warrant a response”

Best to avoid these people. If there services are genuine they cannot back it up with good customer service. Their initial letter to me did not have a contact number. After four months of waiting to hear how my supposed claim was doing, I heard nothing. Emailed them regarding this and was met with rudeness on an epic scale. Make sure you let HMRC know that these people are not your agents, or acting for you if you have previously allowed this

Where do i start? I emailed this 'company' as i recieved an email yesterday mentioning that theres limited time to apply, i emailed this place to make sure my original claim was recieved and all good, to be emailed back to be told '
Please acutally read the email - it specifcally states 'Car Finance' - a totally different claim type.' Why be so rude and speak to me like dirt? I cancelled my application and sent a complaint to be told ' we are not accepting your 'complaint' you are no longer a client' avoid these horrible people at all costs!!

Awful service from start to finish, went on for several months. Very rude in their e mails to me during the whole process. I didn't receive updates at one point so had to e mail them a few times over a few months and they literally told me to stop asking for updates! I wasn't entitled to anything. Then a month or so later they came back to me saying I was! Wouldn't recommend them just based on how rude they are in their e mails and you can't speak to anyone
I'm so glad I'm done with them now! Rebate was only £38 after fees. They even accused me of ignoring their fees when I just asked for a breakdown of their calcs as I thought I would get more. Rudest company I've ever dealt with. I'd stay away and try somewhere else for rebates.

the most unprofessional company i have ever dealt with. Called many times, customer skills zero, emailled repeatedly, no response. Finally said i will do it myself, they said they would cancel my case, yet they still went ahead and claimed my refund from HMRC without my consent after they had supposedly cancelled my case.

I've received a letter this morning from Rebate Gateway thankfully I've read the online reviews here as I'm very cautious about giving strangers personal details out. I was told by HMRC themselves if I'm entitled to a Tax Rebate I'd have to wait until April & then received a letter about Tax which to me set alarm bells ringing straight away. A phone call to HMRC on Monday morning.

DO NOT USE! I have worked in customer service for over 25 years and I have never experienced such a poor service. I can only explain them as rude, short, unhelpful and heartless. You are in the dark from the start, promised an initial call which i did not receive. Honestly please don't use, you will regret it. I filed several complaints that have been ignored however the second i wrote this review i recieved an email threatening legal action if i did not amend this review. When i initially wrote this review I had no idea what i was receiving so I could not work out what they had deducted for their own fees so I have amended this to comply but honestly just read all the other reviews and AVOID!!!!

**Avoid Rebate Gateway – Complete Scam and Shambles**

First time I used Rebate Gateway, they took their fee directly from the rebate. The second time, I went directly through HMRC, and somehow received a letter from Rebate Gateway claiming I owed them money for a rebate they had no involvement in. I emailed them asking for clarification around documentation and their involvement – nothing received. After 11 days, I got another letter threatening further action, including bailiffs, if I didn’t pay within 7 days.

When I emailed again, funny enough, they only responded after I put "complaint" in the subject line. Their staff are rude, completely ill-informed, and refused to acknowledge my complaint or provide any proof of their involvement. Worse yet, they refused to remove my personal data from their system, citing I needed to pay the invoice first, which is a clear violation of GDPR rules. They essentially tried to hold me to ransom over £17.86 – not a huge sum, but the principle is they invoiced me for something they had absolutely no part in.

Avoid these jokers at all costs! If I can stop even one person from using them, this review would be a success. Do yourself a favour and steer clear!

I have submitted documents multiple times to prove the money owed to me is paid to me. They never got back, I have chased it up and said ‘the website clearly states all four corners of the documents must be visible’ which it does not. I have then since received the below from them, bear in mind I have not tried to upload 8 times, this is my third attempt…

You will note that we very clearly state any documentation that is provided needs to be complete - showing all four corners of the document. You obviously, have not done so.

This is now the 8th round of documents we have received from you. If we receive incorrect/incomplete documents again, we will charge you for the extra unnecessary correspondence involved.

Avoid these and go through HMRC themselves. They are VERY unprofessional.

I have since gone ahead and contacted FCA who regulate them as I am now worried that they are not interested in giving me the money which is rightfully my own.

Very rude staff very unprofessional in their emails . Will never be going back to them . They tried telling me they were going to charge for emailing them !

claimed a small about back from HMRC, and next thing i know, i have a bailiffs letter demanding money from me for rebate gatewatys fees, so not only do they have my rebate money, they are now demanding more money from me, please do not use this company, you can complete the rebate application yourself via the HMRC website
