excellent renewal price
Got a reminder e mail to say my car insurance will be up, last year was £320 the renewal price was cheaper than last years only £260 pa, renewed it on line, easy to do and was really pleased, easy to use web site and you can also see all your documents on line.

A Pleasant Surprise.
Was expecting an increase in my insurance renewal because of reports I'd been reading but I was pleasantly surprised to see just a small increase (around £20 ) I recall. So i didn't feel the need to shop around as the quote that I got when I first joined RAC Car Insurance was the most competitive in the first place.

I found it very reasonable and I was able to get the information I needed. the only problem was. you said when we got insurance with you we would get a free breakdown cover but we have been unable to get it. Otherwise everything is ok. Thanks

I couldn't access any telephone number…
I couldn't access any telephone number or user friendly (for me) contact to challenge the disgraceful 29% increase in premium, so had to let renewal go through by default.
Onus put on policy holders to spend an age printing out policy documents, to save you printing out and putting in post.
Once policy documents were issued, I could not find any way through "Insurance Self Service Centre" to make 2 minor amendments to details on policy schedule.

The RAC Online offering is not fit for…
The RAC Online offering is not fit for purpose all counts. They tell you must check your details with the Policy AND with the Certificate of Insurance (CoI) which they do NOT provide you with. They tell you that you do NOT need a CoI and AND you MUST have a CoI in different breaths.
They do do not have the gumption to provide a option to use the only main independent browser, Firefox, because it is TOO secure and will not allow third-party scripts and trackers. Because of this their chat bot will not work. The is the ONLY way to communicate with them.
They then tell you in 3 paragraphs why YOU are too stupid to use an online account , but because it saves them money you must suffer their inconsistencies.
The chatbot (on my mobile) does not understand that I need a CoI. I have been online over 30 years and interacting with the previous incarnation of chatbots 40 years ago with adventure games like Space Quest that COULD understand a request for an item in their 256KB memory. Humanity has NOT advanced in 40 years. I bet I am not the only one to ask for CoI. Have they not learned?
Despite AI and chatbots it takes 30 days to get a transcript of chat session. Sad.
This is my second report on this farce, but RAC Insurance via Trustpilot (surely against GDPR) has asked me to do this again because they CARE (not).

Scam insurance and unprofessional.
"In January 2025, a claim was wrongfully registered against my record, despite the fact that I have never been involved in an accident in my entire driving history. This error occurred even before I signed a contract with my current insurance provider. Despite providing official documentation from both my previous and current insurers explicitly proving a clean driving record—including a statement confirming no claims for 2024, 2025, and 2026—they refuse to acknowledge the mistake or refund the overcharged premium. This company is highly unprofessional and fraudulent. Save yourself the trouble and never buy insurance from them."

I would have given 5 stares if it hadn't been for my bank refusing to action my payment and neither part telling me until I was told a 'late payment' charge had been added.
