Great start, but.....
Excellent concept and great fun but a few flaws.
App updates result in a total change in how the game works (why change what wasn't broken).
Purchasing new content is a huge pain (especially myltipacks) as there is no option to see what you already own.
Audio is an awesome touch when playing online but why not video as well?

Thanks for the review. Outsmarted began as a small family project and has now grown to over 5 million players worldwide. Because we care deeply about the game and our players, we spent the last two years on a major free upgrade. The goal wasn’t to change things for the sake of it, but to fix some long-standing issues in the original version - for example, stopping one player from getting into a winning streak while everyone else sat bored, and adding a proper, exciting quiz-show style final round and different question formats. We’re sorry you don’t love the upgrade as much as most players do, but the intention was to a good game and make it great.
On content: purchasing directly in the app is the easiest route, as the app automatically knows what you already own and won’t let you buy duplicates. The website can’t currently identify you, which means you do need to remember what you’ve purchased. We agree this is no longer ideal now that there are dozens of categories. In 2026 we’ll be introducing a login system so players can see their owned content on the website as well.
As for video: we’d love to do more of it. It’s on our roadmap, but it requires careful optimisation because it dramatically increases file sizes and loading times and around 5% of our players are using older and entry level devices so we always want to balance our decisions with ensuring everything is accessible for as many players as possible. It’s something we’re actively exploring.
We really appreciate the feedback - it helps us keep improving the game for everyone.

Avoid! Very glitchy and problematic experience!
I purchased this game in November 2024 and absolutely loved it! Purchased lots of the expansion packs with confidence that the game would always be ok. However, the latest update has totally ruined what used to be one of the best online games out there. Firstly, when inviting other players to join, you just get an error message now. There no easy way to get other players to connect. When casting from my Samsung device to chromecast, the experience gets even worse. The sound is glitchy, with a constant half second lag of silence. The game freezes on the tv screen but not on the phone meaning that I have to go into the Google home app to stop mirroring and recast for the game to reconnect. This happened at least 15 times in a game that lasted less than an hour. The game then freezes on the phone, leading to a shutdown and reopen the app to resume game, all the time having to recast again. This happened 4 times during the game. It's now that bad that the game has become unplayable. I've uninstall and reinstalled to no avail. Rebooted the phone, Google tv and the WiFi but again, this makes no difference. I'm in ultra fast fibre getting well over 800mbps. What was once a 5* game is now a 1*, and that's an optimistic score at most. If you're thinking of buying this game for family fun, I really would think twice as you'll be lucky to complete even one game without running into issues. Please don't waste your money on this. Once you've used the licence key you'll be lucky to get your money back. It seems they have tried to improve a lot of the graphics but to the detriment of the playability.

We’re really sorry to read your experience, and we completely understand how frustrating it is when you have trouble with a tech product. Outsmarted is a board game with an app component, and with over 5 million players worldwide, we see every possible combination of devices, mirroring methods, routers, security setups and home networks. Because of that, some players do occasionally run into issues - just as they would with any app - but the key point is that these problems are almost always specific to the individual device-network setup, not to the game itself. Hundreds of thousands of games are played every day on the new version without any issues.
The symptoms you describe - audio gaps, freezing on the TV while the phone continues, repeated re-casting and invite issues - all point to a device–network instability. They’re the kind of issues that only show in certain combinations of Samsung devices, Chromecast versions and WiFi setups. They are fixable, but because every player has a different device and home network, they need one-to-one diagnosis rather than a general solution which we can provide here.
Our technical support team is open seven days a week (8am–10pm UK time), and once we can look at your exact device and network setup, and run some diagnostics, we can identify the cause and resolve it quickly. There will be a reason this is happening for you, and we’re very confident we can fix it - but we can only do that if you get in touch with us directly. We’d really like to turn this back into a 5-star experience for you, so please drop us a quick message -you can do that via the “support” button in the app or via our website if you prefer.

Froze after update, 1 day after buying game.
Brought the game on 2nd Dec 2025, played two games to try it out and it worked ok. On 3rd Dec had to update before I could get into the game and now it just freezes as soon as you try and start a new game. The device does meet the spec as published when we brought the game and their support desk says it should work. We now have to wait for their developers to figure out why it doesn't work.
I shall have to look into returning the game as I didn't even get round to loading in the additional questions we brought and I doubt we'll get a fix before Christmas when we wanted to play it.
To be clear, the tablet meets the spec. as published, the Internet and home network are are well above spec and we did get the game running on a Windows laptop to prove there was nothing wrong with our set up.
It fails on a Lenovo tablet with Outsmarted version 3.6 failed after update, 3.5 appeared to work Ok.
To their credit, I did get a quick response from the support desk but they weren't able to fix the problem or do more than suggest uninstalling and reinstalling which is a standard response to most IT issues if powering off/on doesn't work!! It's now in the hands of their developers but I'd be very caution about buying the game unless you are sure you can run it on your devices.

Ich habe das Spiel seit längerem mal wieder aufgerufen. Erst wurde ich aufgefordert, die App zu aktualisieren. Dann konnte ich das Spiel nicht mehr aufrufen, sondern wurde aufgefordet, mich neu zu registrieren. Dann wollte ich dies tun, ging aber nicht, weil meine eingegebene E-Mailadresse logischerweise bereits vorhanden ist. Aber sicherheitshalber hat man es dann auch noch so eingerichtet, dass man sich an keiner Stelle in das Programm mit seiner Mailadresse einloggen kann. Also kann ich das Spiel nicht mehr nutzen. Mangelhaft und daher nicht weiterzuempfehlen.

I loved trivia
I loved trivia. Once I found this game I was hooked. I wanted to get every category. I ran into a few issues purchasing some titles twice. But support team was very helpful and friendly. They responded almost immediately and their interaction were pleasant. My problems were solved and refunds were instant. No matter how many times I reached out to them, they were always kind. It made me feel important like I was a priority. So I was happy and I purchase 98% of the category titles. This by far has been the most expensive game that I have ever purchased. But I love it. My family and I had a blast playing it. So it was worth every penny.

Not only is the Game great fun, support are second to none.
Not only is the Game great fun to play. The support team are second to none.. I had an issue where i purchased an add-on through apple pay and unknowing to me my old email address was associated, if it wasn't for the prompt response and great support team checking the system to find the issue, i would have been struggling. Stopped working, bad customer service…
Stopped working and customer service was unhelpful.
After a year my game stopped working and customer service said that after updates game now not compatible with my ipad anymore. So to play a game worth 19 pounds i need now a new ipad worth min 300 pounds. And why they made game incompatible nobody answered. Awful!
