I got it for my son for Christmas
I got it for my son for Christmas - he’s 11 and is nothing short of a quiz show addict and board game lover - but as an only child with family scattered all over the country and some in different countries he doesn’t always get to play the games as much as he would like - but over Christmas we’ve played together lots and even got a couple of games in with our friends in Canada. It’s such a wonderful game, we love the remote aspect - especially as I’m disabled and can’t always be downstairs or in the same room but this way he can set it up on the tablet and I can play while I’m in bed or away from home.
Thank you for making such a brilliant game with so many wonderful categories. We even won a few in the golden question as well.
I got it in the Black Friday deal with the Kids Vs Adults bundle so it was £24.99 it arrived the same evening (I ordered by 12pm and it arrived by 930/10pm) but now I have it I can say I would order the game at full price especially because the add on packs are affordable - definitely good to reward him when he finishes homework, chores etc.
My son has created a spreadsheet with all the categories we have ended up with since Christmas - 47 in total with only one duplicate from an extra movie pack - we also like that it gives us an idea of how many questions we’ve used in each pack we’ve got halfway through The Royals and Harry Potter. We love how up to date the questions are and that they will update as we go - we got given a game of trivial pursuit (including its thick layer of dust) some time ago and even I didn’t know answers to the questions where as this game will update and we love the fact you can pick age bracket (junior, teen, adult) so everyone can keep up with each other.
I’m sure he will soon add the amount of questions included his spread sheet too.
We have also joined a couple of Facebook groups so we have played with more people making the fun last longer and I have played with people in the middle of the night when I haven’t managed to sleep - my only feedback for this would be to generate a game code prior to the selection of subjects so everyone can pick something and maybe allow them to have their character created already to join with to make the remote play set up a little quicker.
It even includes data for the competitive people playing - stats of how many games each player has played and their win rates it even dated back to Christmas…
All in all it’s a fantastic game at a good price.
My top 3 favourite points,
Enjoyable for all the family at appropriate age levels.
Remote play aspect, we can play together even apart.
Lots of question packs to choose from so every game is different
Thank you Outsmarted for giving us a game that we can play no matter whether I’m bedbound and can’t sit up or even if I’m having to stay away from home due to my illness, and for connecting us with fun nights with family all over the world. As someone that’s not fond of boardgames I’m converted.

Ich würde es schöner finden wenn man das genaue Alter der Spielerinnen angeben könnte.
Auch schön wäre wenn man einstellen könnte das die Fragen und Antworten vorgelesen werden.

Don't buy. purchased this before Christmas 2025
I purchased this before Christmas 2025, I got the Ultimate version, And thought this Would be great for Christmas evening, And it was until it crashed And all scores were lost.
After over 30 minutes of fun, Just wiped away. Angry is not the word I purchased the Ultimate thinking it would be better for a large group, in the end a large disappointed group, My wifi is 1gb so enough for as many phones as you like but it Still CRASHED.
Then again 4 days later, not as many of us this time, CRASHED,
So enjoyable game if you want to be disappointed before the end and LOSE ALL YOUR SCORES. MY Advice don't go to the expense and buy a normal board game, Which will give you just as much fun.
AFTER REPLY FROM OUTSMARTED.
Get your act together, And stop disappointing people, The game should not have been on the market if it was not tested and perfected, so as drop outs would not happen, I have not used it since, but will be keeping an eye on improvements.

Never got to play the game on with family at christmas as intended
I bought this game before christmas so it could be played with the whole family on Boxing day. How wrong was I. I received the game very quickly and activated it. The problems started when I tried to play it and share it on the smart TV. It didnt work and just froze on the phone and TV. Contact the support team and was told that the problem was with my phone (galaxy S24) and i needed to change a whole bunch of setting just to be able to play it. I am not a tech person and for me this ruined the whole experience as i didnt want to spend hours getting everyone else to change whatever settings needed to be changed on their model of phone. I have requested a refund from them but they have only offered a 50% refund with no explanation. I would expect a full refund less P&P. I wait to see what they respond with on this. Overall the game looks like it could be good but is not for a non tech person/family as you would need to spend a lot of time setting it up, installing it on everyones phone and then they maybe have to trouble shoot the problems before playing. We played Monopoly again instead :)

Thank you for your message. We would like to clarify that it is not possible to download Outsmarted without a customer actively purchasing the game and downloading it themselves.
The game also requires a unique license key, which is included in the physical game box. Without purchasing the game and using this license key, it is impossible to download or access the game.

Worst customer service
Ordered on 23/12 with “free 48 hour delivery via Royal Mail”, and was told I’d receive a tracking link by email. I expected it wouldn’t be Christmas week, for obvious reasons, but then it failed to materialise before new years too which is when we’d hoped to play it. I reached out to customer service to be told it would be delivered 4/1 but still no tracking link for me to use. I chased again today via chat function only to be sent a link confirming delivery on 4/1 (hallelujah), but via Amazon logistics and clearly not sent to me by email on dispatch as promised. Absolutely woeful customer service all round, and now I’m reading it glitches constantly - GREAT STUFF.

Biggest load of crap
Biggest load of crap, save your money. Forever disconnecting, kicking other players out and very boring. Should have done downloaded questions instead of live as thier server cannot cope, such a delay in the question to what you are seeing, they just blame your wifi / Internet. Now stuck with a pointless game you cannot sell on because you hold the licence key. No difference when i purchased it in 2024.

Over the last two weeks alone, more than 1.3 million people have played Outsmarted. If even 1% of players were experiencing the issues you describe, there would be over 13,000 one-star reviews across platforms. That simply isn’t the case. The app is currently rated 4.8 out of 5 on both major app stores, which reflects that it is extremely stable and works reliably for the vast majority of players.
Outsmarted is a live game by design, much like a video call. When repeated disconnections or lag occur, it can only be related to a specific home setup. Typical causes include local internet instability, router security settings, firewalls, VPNs, mesh networks, or ISP-level filtering. This isn’t about “blaming Wi-Fi” as a default response; it’s about the reality that live, real-time games depend on consistent connectivity, and when something in a local setup interferes, it has to be diagnosed and resolved step by step. That’s why we offer 7-day technical support and ask players experiencing this to work through troubleshooting rather than assume the game itself is broken.
Most players have no issues at all. If you’re encountering persistent problems, they are specific to your environment and can only be fixed by addressing that setup.

Delay in delivery and rubbish customer service
I ordered this game for my son on 22nd December and I only received it today, 11 days after I ordered it, even though it stated on their website that I would get it within 48 hours! If I’d have known that it would take this long, and I’d completely miss Christmas, I wouldn’t have ordered it.
The parcel came through Amazon too! But I ordered it through their own website. Again, if I’d known this, I would have ordered it through Amazon myself and saved myself £5.
I’ve contacted Outsmarted a few times over the last 11 days, querying where the game was, and each time they replied to me they were very dismissive and sometimes, quite frankly rude. Their customer service leaves a lot to be desired.
I asked for some sort of compensation and I was ignored. They had the chance to put things right, and they didn’t.
I am very disappointed with the company.

Because the delay in your case was considerable, we did agree to compensate you. When you contacted us on 27 December, we replied the same day with a goodwill discount code allowing you to select question packs or multipacks at no cost. When you contacted us again on 29 December, we also added a free Christmas Party multipack. In total, two forms of compensation were provided.
If these emails were missed, we’d be very happy to resend them or provide screenshots if you contact our support team again.
Regarding delivery, all of our orders are fulfilled via Amazon Logistics, which is why your parcel arrived through Amazon despite being placed on our website. During the Christmas period, Amazon experienced network-wide delays due to high demand for Outsmarted, affecting their own customers as well. We could only share the information made available to us at the time, and more detailed tracking was not available until dispatch.

Wow....just wow. The response from these people. Just wow. Sortof unbelievable. But whatever. They can lie and cheat and steal all they like. I will not be purchasing anything from them again. Trying to pretend this was my issue is insane. They were rude, unhelpful, dismissive, and literally the worst customer service interaction possible.

These people are a bunch of thieves. It did not include a license key or whatever the hell they require. Their customer service is worthless, and basically I can never play this game because the failed to give me the code to register it. Absolutely zero help in finding a work around. What a piece of absolute crap company.

As explained at the time, your game was purchased from Amazon, not directly from us. When a physical item is missing or faulty, the retailer it was purchased from is responsible for issuing a replacement or refund. That is why you were correctly directed to Amazon for a straightforward, free replacement.
What does need to be addressed is the manner in which you communicated with our team. From your first message, the language used was profane and abusive, and after being given the correct resolution, included wishing serious harm on a member of our staff’s children.
That behaviour is completely unacceptable.
We are always happy to provide clear guidance and assistance, but no customer service agent should be subjected to abuse or threats. As a result of this behaviour, we will not be providing any further assistance or service going forward.

One thing worth double-checking is that your region is set to the UK in the app, as this controls which core question set you’re served. If the region isn’t set correctly, you can end up seeing content intended for a different market.

Awful company
Awful company, ordered 27th to have it for new years eve as it says 48hr delivery. Got told it was on its way then when I contacted them about where my order is they said amazon was delivering it so they can't tell me anything, so contacted amazon and they asked for tracking number when I asked outsmarted website for tracking number they kept messing me about and then told me there was no tracking number. Then felt like as I kept pestering them about where my order was they cancelled my order and refunded money even without me asking them to do it. So now I've ordered it with amazon website and it's coking tomorrow should have done that in first place. Go to a reliable company. Service is awful and not helpful at all

What you describe is almost certainly caused by something blocking the connection to the app. Common causes include router security settings, VPNs, firewalls, or antivirus and network protection tools. Features such as Sky Shield, which come with Sky Broadband, for example, can block the real-time connections Outsmarted relies on, and a small settings change usually fixes it.

Misleading and Watch out for delivery
Misleading and Watch out for delivery! We wanted the game for New Year’s Eve so I Ordered the game on Sunday 29th dec as it was advertised as free 48hr delivery (no mention of next working day etc). I had two emails a confirmation, then an email saying the game was on its way and a heads up of how to play. Both on the 29th (so far, so good). I have now had an update on the 31st to say it’ll be delivered on the 3rd! The company are clearly misleading people, as it seems the 48hr window is for them to dispatch not deliver! To add insult to injury it’s not coming via Amazon but rather Royal Mail as a collaboration, so I wait with bated breath to see if it turns up at all. Very dissatisfied with being mislead

Delivery delays of 4 to 5 days rather than 48 hours
As with other reviews, they seem to have delivery and stock issues this time of year. My current estimate is another 4 to 5 days rather than the 48 hours quoted on their website. Would be best practice for them to update the delivery estimates this time of year to ensure they dont accept orders they cant provide on time. I would have ordered elsewhere if i had known but too late now.

What made this period particularly difficult was the scale and speed of Christmas demand. At the time orders were placed, stock was available and delivery timelines were valid, but unexpected surges meant stock was reallocated and delayed across the network, affecting both our own orders and other retailers’ deliveries as well.

You’re right to be frustrated, and we agree with you. If 48-hour delivery is advertised, orders should leave within that timeframe, and it wasn’t right that yours didn’t.
Demand for Outsmarted this Christmas was exceptionally high and the game is now more or less sold out across the country. When stock is extremely limited, the process of checking in inventory and moving units between warehouses can cause delays, and unfortunately that is beyond out control, but that doesn’t change the fact that your order should have been dispatched as promised.

I like the concept of the game, and it should be fun. However, the constant app crashes totally ruined it for me.
Halfway through a game, it crashes, no way to continue, only restart.

A great family game - don’t be put off
The mixed reviews made me hesitate, but I am really glad that I went ahead. This has been a hit with the family with ages 8 to 82. The ability to select the categories and provide younger players with more assists and time means that the playing field is much more level. In fact it caused delight amongst the kids that the strongest quizzer (me!) came last three times in a row.
The kids insisted on joining with devices and they do have a tendency to drop out periodically but this may be the device locking and reconnection is swift.
My one criticism is that it is often hard to see the difference between kids’ questions and adult or teen ones.
From a gameplay perspective (for feedback purposes) there should be the ability to get out of a ring question if you realise that you are useless at the subject - getting 5 successive music questions wrong is a little boring, however funny your 8 year old finds it to watch!!
Overall, I rarely write reviews but think it is important for people to know how good this game is given the other critical reviews.

It’s great to hear how well it worked across such a wide age range, and that the category selection and assists levelled the playing field so effectively. That’s exactly what we set out to achieve.
We also completely agree with you on the ring question point. Getting stuck in a category you’re clearly not strong in isn’t ideal gameplay, and this is something we’re already planning to change in an upcoming update very soon so watch this space!
