I purchased the Ogawa SMART 3D Massage Chair in the color black.

I would like my review to first reflect on the exceptional customer service I received from Rick. This is by the far the most expensive purchase I have ever made on an item that was not a necessity. It was so reassuring to know that Rick was able to address all my questions and concerns. Like many, I always research before any purchase and naturally, had many questions ranging from price, to functionality as well as well as other technical aspects that included assembly and application software. Each time, he answered my question diligently and thoughtfully. He was extremely patient and I never felt pressured to make the purchase. He was very knowledgeable and well versed on every single aspect of the chair and always had an answer to my questions, even after purchasing the chair. Specifically, the day after receiving the chair, I called and asked about the height for the shoulder massage and with one simple step, he resolved the matter by explaining that it’s adjustable, just by pushing the shoulder pads down or up (depending on your height). On another call, he addressed a question regarding the application and the different massage settings. Then as well, he addressed the issue by recommending certain settings.



I was debating between Ogawa and a different brand but ultimately went with Ogawa because of Rick’s thorough knowledge of the product, as well as with the overall customer experience with Rick, specifically. Note that all my interactions with him have not been in-person and were only over the phone.



I personally have never had massages or care much for them. However, Rick noted that although I’m making the purchase, I should consider a chair that would be suitable for my build, height and weight as well as others. I have tried the chair several times and have been pleased thus far. More detailed review from a massage enthusiast below:



Notes from one household user:

Growing up in Africa and parts of South Asia, I have grown to enjoy the benefits of a very intense massage. It is safe to say that my massage level tolerance is quite high and most than the average woman. Like most people, I tote my computer and heavy bags to work and, spend hours at my desk ; as well as at least an hour each day, driving to and from work. I also want to note that I wear 3-4” heels that at times, leave me aching for a foot massage. I am so grateful that I don’t have to wish anymore because of the Ogawa 3D in the comfort of my own home and….it’s by far the best massage experience I’ve ever had!

I am in absolute heaven each and every night, after a very long day at work. I have been using the massage chair daily for at least 30 minutes.



Assembly:

I opted to assemble the chair myself and was pleasantly surprised at the ease of assembly. It took approximately an hour to put together. Please note that the chair arrives in 3 large boxes and you will require assistance to move the boxes if you are moving it to a different level of your home. This was the only challenge I encountered.



Massage Quality and various chair options:

The chair is very sturdily built. Massage combinations and intensity levels are unparalleled. Words cannot describe how efficient the sensors are. The Air Compression and various advanced massage techniques are excellent. I alternate and depending on my day, I will choose intense personalized combinations or the preset “Gentle” and other modes. I have been trying new ones each day, to assess my preferences. The Chair would probably not be as user friendly without the tablet. It’s very easy to use and the application is straightforward. The sound quality is excellent and adds to the ambient mood when you listen to “relaxation music” and interchange the LED light colors.



My suggestion to get the best experience, and for night time relaxation, is to use the Zero Gravity 2nd stage setting. It’s very soothing.



I wish that there was an option for a calve massage. The Calf compression and foot massage is a winning combination, but the bonus of a calf roller would have made this chair a 20/10; I also wish that there was a deltoid massager as well although the compression kind of takes care of that aspect. This chair has very little room for improvement, I would recommend it without hesitation and it’s worth every penny and more. This is especially the case for people like myself, who enjoy the benefits of a deep roller, Shiatsu and high compression. I highly suggest that you increase all levels to the max (intensity, 3D etc). You can also manually spot massage and mix and match combinations that are PERFECTLY suited to your needs and preferences.

I don't often write reviews, but I just have to give huge kudos (and five stars) to Rick at Ogawa World USA for an absolutely outstanding, informative and enjoyable shopping experience for my two (2) new Ogawa Smart 3D Massage Chairs. I wanted to take advantage of the Cyber Monday Special they were promoting, and Rick could not have been more pleasant and gracious, not only to converse with, but also to answer the endless questions I had regarding the massage chair itself, as well as the purchase options, shipping, delivery and assembly process and details. He was extra helpful in explaining and answering everything, and even providing me with advice and suggestions regarding the shipment to Guam of my second Ogawa Smart 3D. He explained that Ogawa World USA cannot ship outside of the Continental U.S., but that they would be able to facilitate my finding the right company to do so. And the superb way this shopping process has gone so far, I have zero doubt they will come through with that as well. Obviously, I can't wait to get my cappuccino Smart 3D Chair and to start enjoying all the massage therapy and stress release it will provide me and my family. I have a feeling we won't be disappointed in the least. In fact, I suspect that the Ogawa Smart 3D, just like the shopping experience I enjoyed so much with Rick, will even surpass our expectations. I needed to confirm several things about the Ogawa massage chair I was considering to purchase. Rick answered ALL my questions quickly and thoroughly. His patience and product knowledge was appreciated as I was apprehensive about making a purchase until I fully understood everything about the chair. My wife and I have been looking for a massage chair for awhile now and we looked at two different companies. After talking with Rick, we decided to go with Ogawa World USA. They were very knowledgeable on there products and never once pushy or tried to sell me something I did not want.

I tried the Smart 3D massage chair at a store in Maryland. I spent a lot of time in an Inada chair and noticed the Smart 3D on my way out. After just a few minutes I was completely amazed by the massage and how fun it is to use with the Tablet. It seemed like worlds apart from the Inada. Everything was so easy to change and make perfect for what I wanted. I spoke with Rick who was very helpful, he easily answered all of my questions. He also called to check in to make sure my delivery went ok (we chose the threshold delivery) and gave me some pointers on getting started.

I'd recommend Ogawa chairs and Rick at Ogawa to any of my friends and family.

I have been having regular massage and chiropractor appointments so I decided to stop at a local furniture store to check out their massage chairs. I tried a couple different models and learned about their features. I then did my research online and discovered the Ogawa Refresh chair. This chair was ranked 3rd in 2015 and it had all the features I was looking for. I did not have an opportunity to try out this chair so I was a little nervous about that but the friendly salesman was able to answer all my questions so I made the purchase right over the phone. It took about a week for the chair to arrive and I have to say that this experience has exceeded my expectations. The chair was delivered right to my living room and took very little time to assemble. I cancelled my massage and chiropractor appointments and plan to save money and enjoy this relaxing experience in my own home for many years to come. I love this chair!

I’m so happy with my foot massager. It seemed straightforward but I had a lot of questions. I called and spoke with someone who helped me get a better understanding of how to use it. This was helpful because I wasn’t sure how it worked. It turns out its a stronger foot massager and can take some time to get used to, but so far its been great. I’ve tried a few other foot massagers but they all felt a little cheap and weren’t very strong. Glad I chose this one, and appreciate all the help from Ogawa. Delivery was fast.

This was mu first time shopping with Ogawa. the customer service was very knowledgable and responded quickly to my emails and phone calls. I agree with the reviewer above, assembly on a massage chair is easier with two people but not crazy difficult. like other furniture it’s heavy. I think the delivery took a total of 7 days total, and I had to set up a time with the delivery company.

I’ve bought a few pieces of furniture online so I sort of knew what to expect (delivery, assembly, etc). Shipping was easy, we did the free method, and did the assembly ourselves. Assembly went quick with two of us. After it was set-up we had a ton of questions. Rick at Ogawa was very very helpful. He helped us learn more about the chair and help us figure out to use it correctly. Mainly how to manually control the Butt massage, and use the special UNIQ programs.

We had a tried a few chairs before we bought this, but never got a chance to try the Active model. The supertrac was very attractive because of the butt, and leg massage. So happy with our chair and with Rick. Would recommend to a friend for sure.
