If possible I would give 0 stars. Confusing - just wrong from beginning to end. Never known such a mess, Barnet council had managed the permits very well so far.
I quite like the app as it shows a constant countdown of my remaining time on my phone screen. Also was able to use Apple Pay without going through endless account setting up shenanigans. Unfortuna... Se mere
The WORST parking app ever
So Mipermit, either cant find your current carpark you are standing in, tells you your email/password is incorrect or any other number of Epic Fails. Guaranteed to make any trip into Bath or anywhere else its used into a miserable weeping-with-rage experience.
Today at home, on my Wifi, its failed to recognise my email, so inputting my phone no. to get a temp pass no. sent to me, only to discover there is NOWHERE on the App, to input this number Mipermit has required and just sent me and now, trying again it has locked me out of my account, and presumably parking in my own city for the future. Nor can I delete the app and start again. Shame on you and shoot your supposed and laughably named app 'designers'
M I Permit, the worst parking app ever!
Visited Bath on June 11th, 2024 and parked in the usual place and paid using this App at 11.28am. At 11.54am, I got a parking ticket as no ticket was displayed. When you pay online, there is no ticket. I wrote to the council about the issue. M I Permit recorded my details as being in Chichester and not Bath which is 117 miles apart. It would appear that I made the 117 mile journey in 26 minutes. This situation has now escalated to a visit from a bailiff to collect a fee in excess of £400. I contacted M I Permit about this situation and pointed out the error, they will not accept responsibility at any cost.......but it is their software. After my call to them, they deleted this transaction from my online payment history. As expected, you can not speak with anyone at the council but I have sent registered letters about the issue. As of today, April 1st, 2025, this issue is still to be resolved by Bath Council and they obviously awarded M I Permit a contract in relation to parking in the area. I will go to court re this issue as I have all the evidence to share re my case and a list of numerous bad reviews from other people.
Watch carefully when entering time and date and then duration as you could get overcharged very easily
Consistently overcharges by putting in extra hours
Not recommended
Downloaded the ap to pay for parking in Weston through mi permit After entering card details the Site looked suspicious so did i didn't carry on with transaction yet a company called XR academy then tried to take out £48 from my account
The worst app in history/ Worthing parking
The worst app in history. Unfortunately, I had to download this app as I need it for work Parking. You can’t buy the permits from app, you need to go to your account. Everytime that you buy permits you need to download the worker permit and enter you registration number and you can’t do any of these from the app. Once you buy it on your account, they need to verify it so it doesn’t show straight away, you need to wait probably until the next day. How ridiculous is that? What is the point of this stupid app. Confusing software, you better park anywhere else, stupid and complicated app. Worthing townhall what on earth have you done? Couldn’t find a better company than this one, I don’t think it would have been too difficult. Very frustrating
Terrible app , disjointed parking system
Terrible app
Awful parking system
Disjointed information
Bath council... And mipermit really need to get your heads together and sort this out.
Coming to visit Bath , it's a lovely city I'd love to come again.... But having to leave a hotel room at 8am to move my car as you can't stay in a car park for more than 8jrs at a Time.
Warning about downloading the app
OK so this isn't a review necessarily about the app itself however it is about the company and how you get the app. WARNING
Here is what happened to me today and also to my husband a few weeks ago in a different location. Having reached one of my council carparks (Wakefield Council please take note!) I noticed a sign to say I needed to download the MiPermit app. I opened my browser on my phone to search and clicked the correct weblink. However, as I was trying to get the app to sort my parking quickly the weblink actually took me to a webpage "Rapid media" and asked me to continue my registration. At the time this seemed odd that it wanted me to pay £1 for an app and I did close it to try and pay by cash at the machine. I was in a rush and didn't have enough change so I tried again and got the same message to pay a £1. It was only after I paid that I wondered where the download was for the MiPermit app. Well it wasn't there because I had inadvertently signed up for a fitness subscription!
I did eventually download the app but through Google Play - which is what I should have done initially. This is, though, really deceptive of this company to allow advertising and not clearly state that you are subscribing to something other than an app!
I have emailed MiPermit today to express this and I will also mention this to the council.
Not fit for purpose
Absolutely dreadful experience, wasting an enormous amount of time and causing a great deal of stress.
If I could give 0 stars I would
If I could give 0 stars I would. Absolutely awful app and awful customer service. Do not use unless you want your money taken and time wasted.
Horsham and MiPermit
Why did Horsham District Council ditch a perfectly acceptable system for this online nightmare?
I used to pay and get a paper ticket. Simple.
Now they have swapped to the useless MiPermit and I find that the app (which I must use to swap between cars) doesn't allow renewal of annual permits! Instead, I have to log in via my PC (my 'phone pushes me to the app), then I find MiPermit requires a recent utility bill (all of mine are online) and my V5 which was not required to renew before.
4 times as much hassle as before and pointless. Even when I have found, scanned, and uploaded my V5 - I can immediately change the numberplate in the app to anything I wish!
Furthermore - HDC have proof of my residence via Council Tax and the Electoral register!
Multiply 30 minutes of frustration by - say - 20,000 residents with cars (at least) and you've wasted the public 10,000 hours of unnecessary overhead!
Progress?
Why does the app only allow a minimum…
Why does the app only allow a minimum of 4 hours parking? I want to park for an hour. This is just ripping off people who need to park by overselling them time.
Have been using 5 times a week to park…
Have been using 5 times a week to park for work, easy to use app,no issues at all.
Awful
Awful, a stressful system endorsed but Chorley Council. The app just doesn't work, went to park on Asda car park and walk in.
Twice I have called mipermit to park in…
Twice I have called mipermit to park in Cathays to stay with my daughter at uni. The service on the phone has been just brilliant, the staff were helpful and cheap parking, I was surprised to read the bad comments, both staff I spoke to were just lovely and really helpful!!
Most frustrating app ever!
Mypermit is probably the most frustrating app ever used. It logs out so just when you want to use it you have to go through the rigmarole of a login - why can't you give face recognition option? AND more often than not when am at this stage it tells me my login details are incorrect then get locked out for too many tries. I then login via my computer using same login details and it works!
Terrible app couldn't make payment
Terrible app couldn't make payment. No NFC at machine what kind of smart parking app is that they just want you to pay the fines. Disgraceful
App was terrible
Went on a weekend away and their car park was the closest to the hotel. Parked there for both days and tried to pay on the app the night before so that I wouldn't get a fine the next day. On my last day got to the car only to find a fine from the council. The app asked me to authorize the payment on my banking app, which I did but the payment never went through which led to the fine. If the app was easier to use then this would not have happened.
Utterly Dreadful app
Utterly Dreadful app - kept refusing booking or payment as the red “no return within 1 hour” warning was constantly preventing payment. Managed to pay the same amount required but for a different car park nearby via app after the event as had to rush to work or get in major trouble - but will presumably now receive endless threats of non-payment bailiff visits in the coming months…😡
If I could give my appalling experience…
If I could give my appalling experience zero stars it would be more accurate!
So, I'm in a council car park in Bath, I've never seen MiPermit before, so I make the mistake of scanning the QR code on the parking payment machine to download the app, as the notices suggest you should. My advice - whatever you do, avoid this fundamental mistake. Pay by cash.
If you want to put the MiPermit app on your phone, do it from the Appstore or Google play at home in your own time.
However, not knowing that I was stepping into an Orwellian nightmare, I scanned the QR code. After a series of rapid screen changes which, looking back, might be designed to confuse people, my phone shows a screen saying I could accept an offer to "pay £0.01 now and a monthly service charge of £29.50 unless cancelled (within a certain time)...."
Clearly this has nothing to do with car parking, it is an advert for some weird and not-so-wonderful "service" that I neither wanted nor understood - something about a comedy club. This amounts to a scam, pure and simple.
Why did this happen? Was the QR code a stuck-on piece of plastic with a scammer's QR code - various consumer bodies have warned about this. Did I somehow download a false "App" produced by scammers from the scammers' website? I don't know. The point is this: somehow, after scanning the QR code I got into a right mess, and if it can happen to me it can happen to anyone. I am not a naïve phone user and I don't see myself as gullible, but in this situation (time pressure, guests waiting for me to get the parking sorted, having a deadline for the show we were going to see, etc) I fell for some scam or other.
Things then got worse. I eventually decided I'd deal with the consequences of that mistake later, and get the parking ticket... of course I still thought I was on the genuine MiPermit site... but by now my phone had moved on to "enter registration number" - which I did. By now, I had no idea what I was actually looking at! After a lot of spinning circles the message came back "car not found". Sure enough, whatever I was looking at then presented me with another "offer" like the previous one, except this time it was charge of £0.01 now and then £49.50 a month unless cancelled. I wonder how many people are taken in by this when trying to download a genuine app.
And the outcome? I gave up and paid by cash. I checked my bank card next day - nothing. Thought I'd got away with it. The following day, my bank sent me a message: "card payment stopped / text Y if this was a charge made by you". And sure enough, it was the £29.50 charge mentioned in my first attempt to pay. The bank clearly know this is a charge from scammers. The solution that seemed best to me was to simply closed down that bank card and get a new one, which is what I did.
If only I'd paid in cash!
Devizes council take note
On a recent trip to Devizes while on holiday I parked in a MIPERMIT controlled car park.
I installed the app, inputted all the required data and paid with a credit card. So far so good, but the app then said the transaction had not been successful and to try again.
I checked my credit card account and the payment had left my account.
I tried to call the helpline and had to give up as nobody answered.
I got into my car and drove out of Devizes as I wasn't going to waste more money on car parking in the town and spent my money elsewhere. Completely unexceptable for a council to use a company this poor.
