I really like the tool

I really like the tool. For me as a program manager to helps to present my master schedules and communicate to stakeholders, customers and team members. The visualization abilities make it quite easy to communicate effectively.

Easy understanding for recipients

The best thing is the GUI of the outcome which is easy for receivers to understand. I miss one thing. In the end of a project I'd like to show planned vs actual outcome. It would be nice if I in the data window could create outcome-lines which in GUI would be 0 line spacing between it's parent and have a thinner bar.

In terms of having the option to display a planned vs. actual baseline on your graphic, it is one of the main priorities on our product development roadmap. As we strive to continuously improve the product, we regularly release new features and enhancements. Whenever such additions become available, you will be notified in-app and prompted to update your add-in build to the latest version so you can access these new functionalities.

Meanwhile, as a workaround, here’s what you can do to show task progress in a manner similar to that of a baseline:
• In the Edit Data window, add your tasks and then duplicate them (use task titles that will allow you to pair them easily as Actual – Planned);
• Use the Timeline View’s drag&drop functionality to move the paired tasks one above the other;
• Adjust the dates of the paired tasks so that they reflect their planned vs actual progress;
• Use the associated option under Task Shape from the Style Pane to set the spacing to Narrow and then click the up-down incremental arrows below to decrease the spacing to the lowest value possible.

I really love the interface

I really love the interface, the ease of use and customizable templates.

The thing I would like to see improved is the constant "jump-backs" of Title locations and font sizes, after I've made the slightest change

With regards to having the layout of various timeline elements changed after applying an edit, please note that the add-in can handle a variety of custom changes, but there are some that it doesn't support. This is why I recommend that you click the “Accept” button on the Office Timeline ribbon whenever making such amendments on the visual.

By doing so, the manual edits that are supported will be saved (and kept even when updating a date or other objects on the graphic), while any formatting that is not supported will be reset to default. A solution for the latter case is to make these unsupported manual changes right at the end, after you've finished editing your graphic.

The timeline maker is easy to use (I…

The timeline maker is easy to use (I used the Powerpoint version). It re-adjusts the items on the timeline well most of the time. It does sometimes lack in formatting -- I found the lines connecting flags to the timeline too thin to show up well when printed and there was no way to adjust them. Overall, this has save me a lot of time.

Regarding the ability to make your milestone connectors thicker and more visible, this is not yet possible from the add-in’s Style Pane. However, you can use PowerPoint’s native controls to increase the thickness of your connectors by following the simple steps below:
• Select all the connecters by long-pressing the CTRL key and then clicking on the intended items;
• Under the “Shape Format” tab on the PowerPoint ribbon, click on “Shape Outline”;
• Select “Width” from the dropdown menu that appears next, and then choose the desired thickness of your connectors from the list of available options.

Once you are ready, please make sure to click the Accept button on the Office Timeline ribbon. The add-in can handle a variety of custom changes, but there are some that it doesn't support. When clicking Accept, the manual edits that are supported will be saved (and kept even when updating a date or other objects on the graphic), while any formatting that is not supported will be reset to default. A solution for the latter case is to make these unsupported manual changes right at the end, after you've finished editing your graphic.

If you want to enjoy more flexibility in terms of the units displayed on the timescale of your visual, you can:

• Choose to show fiscal years on the timescale. By default, Office Timeline calculates the timeline scale based on the calendar year (January-December). If your organization’s fiscal year (FY) starts on a different month than January, you can easily configure the add-in to show your custom FY on the timescale. Support and Training

I am new to Office Timeline and even after watching the quick start tutorial, I had difficulty making my PPT timeline. However, I emailed my questions to Office Timeline support and received a reply in just a few business days. The answers Office Timeline provided were helpful. I also attended the 30-minute QuickStart webinar and learned a lot more than in the initial tutorial. I have signed up for the Best Practices class and look forward to that webinar.

Office Timeline is very user-friendly…

Office Timeline is very user-friendly and I love the import/export features. The ability to export to Powerpoint is very helpful for executive presentations and updates. For future consideration, it would be great to be able to (1) add multiple projects under one workspace/area and (2) pull those into a dashboard.

Product integrates seamlessly and is intuitive to use

Product integrates seamlessly with Powerpoint. Enables creation of very professional timelines with minimal learning. Very intuitive. Would give 5 stars if/when a few of the features are made a little less rigid. For example, timeline headers do not allow you to override the months that are displayed. You can select abbreviations, or to only show years or months, etc. But if the program chooses to only show every 4th month, you can't choose to have it show August instead of September.

Maybe it is me

Maybe it is me, but I need more fields to import, and maybe without a start and end date, but duration. I know a milestone is a 0-duration task. But I have milestones with duration
