Our gas hot water system was only about three years old and worked perfectly fine. The problem wasn't the system—it was the gas bottles.

Anyone who relies on gas cylinders knows the feeling. You're halfway through a nice hot shower, mentally solving the world's problems, and suddenly the water turns arctic. Next thing you're standing there questioning all your life choices while trying to remember whether there's a spare bottle outside.

After one too many "surprise cold shower" moments, and with plans to upgrade the house with solar and battery storage, I decided it was time to look seriously at heat pumps.

I did a lot of research myself before making a decision. There are plenty of opinions online, plenty of sales pitches, and no shortage of conflicting information. After comparing options, I settled on the iStore 270 as the best fit for what we wanted to achieve.

The next step was finding the right installer.

After comparing providers, I chose JR Gas & Water. Jarred was great to deal with throughout the process—quick to respond, easy to communicate with, and happy to answer questions without any pressure or sales tactics.

The installation itself was smooth and professional. Everything was organised efficiently, the workmanship was excellent, and the whole experience was refreshingly straightforward.

What I like most is that this upgrade fits into our longer-term plan for the house. Between the solar, battery upgrade and now the heat pump, we're moving away from gas and making better use of the energy we're generating ourselves.

The best part? No more checking gas bottle levels. No more wondering if there's enough left for another week. And hopefully no more unexpected Antarctic shower experiences.

JR Gas and Water as a company caught my eye based on great reviews. I’m usually a bit skeptical if all I can see are 5 star reviews but I took a chance and was not disappointed. Easy to communicate to sort out what I needed for my home. I got a new hot water system installed by Jo and Kris and they also sorted some plumbing issues in my new home. Installation was booked quickly and completed without fuss. Highly recommend this company.

I recently had JR Gas & Water install a Reclaim V2 315L heat pump hot water system at our place, and the experience was fantastic from start to finish. JR Plumbing and Gas did an excellent job installing a Stiebel Eltron SHP O300 hot water heat pump. The delivery and tradies (Mark the sparky and our two plumbers) arrived on time and were communicative and professional. The team even returned immediately to resolve an issue with the tundish drainage line placement which was much appreciated. The online quoting system can be daunting if you’re unaccustomed to it but Jared and the JR team patiently answered my many questions. The heat pump and installation are high quality and I would highly recommend both.

I had the iStore 270L heat pump installed last week to replace an older Quantum unit which had gone past the end of its usable life. The unit was installed by JR Gas and Water in Brisbane. The unit is a fair bit quieter than the old system and the installation was completed fairly quickly. I can't manage to connect the system to the wifi and am constantly stuck on a loading screen before I can enter the wifi password through the app, but otherwise the system looks fairly easy to use.

I found the website fairly easy to use in terms of choosing between the different units, but the options in terms of installation could have been a bit clearer. I had a bit of back and forth with Jarred over email which helped to resolve the queries regarding the type of installation required.

The installers did a good job and did not take too long. I had my own electrician finish off the connection, but JR do offer that service if you don't have that option.
