Disappointing Refund Policy and Frustrating Customer Service Experience

My online order total was £285, paid as one combined purchase using a £100 gift card and £185 on my credit card.

I returned one item worth £98 within 2 days because it was not what I expected. My issue is not that I was trying to cash out a gift card — it’s that despite this being a larger combined purchase, the refund was pushed back to the gift card instead of reducing my credit card balance. The outcome is that I am effectively being forced into what feels like buying another gift card for future spending I did not intend to make.

Customer service was extremely frustrating. Responses felt mechanical, scripted, and dismissive, repeatedly insisting everything was processed correctly while ignoring the actual concern. As a loyal customer who has spent around £1,000 with FARM Rio over the last year, this felt especially disrespectful.

This experience has completely changed my view of the brand, and it will be my last purchase.

To any frustrated customer facing situations like this, do not give up when something feels unfair. Seek support through Citizens Advice and continue escalating where appropriate. In my case, I will also be raising this with my MP because situations like this feel abusive toward consumers, and when customer protections fail to properly address these practices, those concerns deserve to be challenged.

Customer service is poor.
Ordered with a 25% off code. Code wasn’t applied to one item, so had to get a partial refund.
Further item cancelled due to an ‘inventory error’ although item is still in stock and has remained in stock.
Contacted customer service, no explanation. Offered me 15% off which is ridiculous as original purchase was with the 25% off and they didn’t honour.
First time shopping with them and really disappointed

I recently made a return and the experience was excellent. The process was clear, quick, and hassle-free, which made everything very easy.

I would especially like to highlight Mr. Gabriel from the customer service team, who was extremely professional, kind, and efficient at all times. He responded promptly to my questions and guided me through the entire process, making sure everything was handled smoothly.

The refund was processed within the expected timeframe, which gave me a lot of confidence in the brand. This level of service truly makes a difference and leaves a very positive impression. I would definitely shop here again.

I normally love farm rio and frequently buy from the brand. I ordered a pair of shoes on the uk site. And realised the sizes shown are us. I immediately requested to edit, and sent an email. But not response.they probably will send the wrong size and I might miss out on the nice shoes. How come on a uk site sizes are us... Makes no sense

Just another reviewer raving about Farm Rio's Customer Service. I'm OCD about getting great service. So when I do, I will stick with that business. The other day I ordered an item but forgot to add the coupon code and realized it in a split second from pressing the order button. Quickly contacted them via their online form, and they refunded my the difference. I have also communicated in the past when I wanted to know skirt length or specific measurements that were not listed.

THE Best Company for women's clothes around!

This company not only makes the most beautiful and unique clothes, but their customer service is FLAWLESS! And the fit! My goodness, it's like they are custom made! Awful experience! Do NOT BUY!

Awful experience. I purchased a dress online but it didn’t fit. I tried to exchange it with another size but because the size I needed was sold out they didn’t offer me a refund or exchange with another dress. So I am stuck with a deess that I cannot use. Terrible experience and will never buy from them again!

Customer service is manipulative

They write back when you write them, but there's this strange, dismissive, lack of accountability and zero warranty on their clothing. I bought one of their dresses from a boutique, several buttons fell off almost immediately, I sewed several back on but some were lost so I wrote asking for replacement buttons (they are very ornate and specific to the dress), and they deflected saying I have to contact the boutique (who obviously don't have replacement buttons). Then they tried to suggest they're just a store themselves (rather than the manufacturer.) It was a whole lot of pretending to be helpful, while manipulating in a way that is an insult to anyone who is intelligent. Bottom line: you're on your own when your new clothing falls apart after your first wear.

I ordered the Monstera dress

I ordered the Monstera dress as I desperately wanted it. It unfortunately had a horrible fit, with bunched fabric in the belly, and it was really poor quality overall. Each part of the Monstera leaves were attached by a single thread and one of them was already broken before even unpacking it. For $330, I expect more than a single thread holding down the design and I also expect it to fit well. It had a massive gap in the top and showed my bra, yet everything else fit correct. No amount of messing with the spaghetti straps helped and those were barely stitched on. This is my first and last time buying something from Farm Rio. So disappointed. Returning it seems to be a non-issue so far, though so there is that plus.

Awful terrible service DO NOT BUY!!!!

Awful terrible service. I have been going back and forth with them for weeks because they sent me a faulty pair of trousers. I tried to return a pair of trousers that cost 144 and arrived torn. Only post option was usps which was near impossible to use. Finally managed to return and they have only refunded the cash but not the 2 gift cards I used! I wrote to object the sent me one! The second had a 50 pound balance, I emailed AGAIN to chase and they responded that they have already refunded the first!!!! THATS NOT WHAT I ASKED! GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK

I enjoy wearing Farm Rio and I am thankful for the help customer service. Too often I received an item that is defective, not sew correctly, missing a button (just received another last week and I have even reached out because I’m tired of asking for their help), or worst, sizes that are much smaller than reported online. Most times I hear back from customer service within a week and they help with the return. While the clothes are cute, the quality seems to be slipping. Thanks for the customer service for their continued help!

I would like to register a complaint regarding the packaging for my Farm Rio purchases.
I bought a dress—and this isn't the first time. These dresses carry a significant price tag—high enough that they shouldn't arrive simply stuffed into a plastic bag, but rather presented with a more polished look. Instead, they arrive so crumpled and unsightly that the garment looks absolutely terrible. As a boutique with such a renowned name, you really ought to provide packaging that is more visually appealing.
