The issue was resolved, but ultimately, Data Energy caused the issue by messing up our direct debit, then sent an email demanding payment, and made no apologies for causing the issue when it was determined that it was their fault.
Poor experience, wouldn't use them if we had a choice.

As mentioned in our previous correspondence, we’re rolling out a new account-setup process to improve billing for everyone. Unfortunately, an issue meant previously set-up Direct Debits didn’t transfer across seamlessly. This led to payments not being collected and chasing letters being triggered. We’re really sorry for the inconvenience this caused.
We’ve identified the root of the issue and are already putting the relevant measures in place to ensure this doesn’t happen again.

Taya's support was amazing
Taya's support was amazing. Despite my name not being on the account (my landlord's name is) she was able to confirm as much detail as possible that the bill I was missing had been sent out. Taya was also able to solve a long-ongoing mystery between myself and my letting agents as to why bills were delayed or could not be split between tenancies (they can, but the lanlord had not put my name on the tenancy!). It was SUCH a relief and Taya was clear, reassuring and so supportive!

Please note we as third-party metering and billing agent appointed by the managing agents of your building, who act on behalf of the building owner (your heat supplier). Our role includes issuing bills based on the metering data available and the approved tariff to the contacts we are provided for each individual account.
We’ve reviewed our records and can confirm that the property records were updated with your move out information on 15/10/2025. As per correspondence previously issued to all residents, the development's tariff rates have recently expired and until new rates are approved we are not able to issue your final bill. All this was confirmed to the letting agency in writing on the same day the account was updated.
We appreciate the frustration of not having yet received your final bill, however, as a third-party metering and billing agent, we are not able to bypass the process necessary to calculate, approve and have a new tariff be applied to the development. As the updated rates haven’t yet been finalised, we’re unable to answer tariff-related queries at this stage. Once the new tariff is approved it will be communicated to all residents and we'll be able to issue your final, which will be sent directly to you via e-mail.
