UPDATE: Creation Crate responded and was so helpful! We did a video call in order to troubleshoot the issue, and got it resolved. It was a great experience and my son is excited again to continue his projects. CC went above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied, and I feel very confident that they'll take care of it if we have anymore issues in the future. They are a fairly new company and are trying hard to make adjustments and improvements. By the end of our call, I felt like they genuinely cared about my son getting the most out of the product.

OLD REVIEW:
I signed up for the 6 month subscription for my son as a Christmas present. He got the first one in January and quickly got to work on it. None of us have any experience with programming so it was a very slow process, but it was successful and he was proud of his accomplishment. He took a break before he started the next one and before we knew it, the creation crate boxes started to pile up.

In May, he decided to attempt the next one and it proved a little more difficult, but he pushed through only to meet an error code at the end. His dad and I worked on it with him for hours that turned into days, and we simply couldn't see where he went wrong. I went to the Creation Crate website hoping to find a phone number, because surely a tech company like this would know that people are going to need support, but my search was fruitless. I was forced to send an email and hope that someone would get back to me. Someone did (almost a week later) with such a generic reply that it was absolutely no help at all. So I replied with another very detailed email including screenshots and a list of all the troubleshooting we had done. I also included my phone number so that if they wanted to try to resolve it more quickly over the phone they could call. And I haven't heard a thing from them. No email. No call. Nothing!

My son spent countless hours on this project and he has 4 unopened projects still sitting there. That was a lot of money wasted, and I want nothing more than to return the unopened boxes for a refund.

The boxes have been really interesting, and even though they take hours for me to complete, they never bore me. I have modified some of the designs to be more permanent, like the lock box design. Which I integrated into a brief case. Over all, I love the creation crate sets, and can't wait to further hone my skills to be able to make my own projects.

Took a bit of time for the first box but after that its been absolutely amazing!!!

I'm working on the Mode Lamp 2.0 and having a blast. It is challenging but very fun! I have learned a lot about coding and electronics that I will then use to teach my daughter and students at the school where I teach.

This is great product that takes you from no experience to expert levels in 12 months.

Overall great kits, however the diagrams can be a bit confusing especially as you get into the more complex ones.

I’m really enjoying the Creation Crate projects! They’re challenging and rewarding-I recommend getting the yearly subscription so you can build on prior knowledge.

I was dissatisfied with the creation crates website as it did not include the course that I had subscribed to but variations of the course. And as these variations did not include what I had subscribed for, the creation crate website was useless to me and I had to build the chassis myself.

Even the boxes are great!
We have been doing Tech Clubs for a long time and Arduino projects have been a big part of that. My favorite so far has been the "Uno Minuto" because I've never had a clock to add to an Arduino project. It is something new that will become part of the future.
I've just received the "Rover Bot" and it is heavy. Anything with the word "Bot" is going to be good...
I'm a big fan of the printed project boxes. They are both fun and functional. The boxes complete the project and become part of the story.
The webpage lesson documentation is really nice.

My son and I love putting these together. He's only 7 so he needs some assistance, but he enjoys the hands on work and sense of accomplishment when we're done. His younger siblings use the mood lamp as a night light and he loves telling people he built it.

I love these kits! They are so much fun to make and are not too difficult or easy. I would recommend them to people who have an interest in engineering, programming, technology, or people who enjoy building things!

Creation Crate fills a void that has existed in the Tech Subscription box world. Most kits are aimed at the very young or adults with extra income. Creation Crate is affordable and challenges tweens and teens (and at least one adult!). I especially appreciate the manner in which the project challenges build from month to month. If you are looking to teach or learn circuit building and coding you should subscribe to Creation Crate. The teens I have worked with really liked the LED Dice Game and the Memory Game!

Excellent curriculum and labs, I will recommend to anyone who wants to understand more about STEM young, middle aged, or old.

They are very easy to communicate with, customer support is always great and I like all the project I received! I currently have the upgraded version subscription and it’s a blast! Projects are easy to follow and I enjoy making them and learning new skills. Would definitely recommend

I bought creation crate for my younger cousins and was not disappointed. At first I was hesitant about doing the subscription, but once I saw how excited they were building their first project, I knew that they would enjoy getting more. I now look forward to getting the packages in the mail every month and delivering them to my cousins :)

I made an order about 2 weeks ago and have received no notice about the shipment or order process. I emailed someone about this issue using the provided email and was told it would ship 5 days ago. Still no response from an email a sent 2 days ago..

I'm starting to think this is a scam. BE CAREFUL OUT THERE!

Finally got a reply from the co-founder. This was the only time anything productive was communicated to me. The package is now on it's way after about a month...

Replying to the reply from Creation Crate.
That's completely understandable, but what was not acceptable was how poor the communication was and the measures it took for me to get a proper response from ANYONE on your team.
Additionally, when I did receive the package, it was missing the link to the online course AND a resistor. Once again, it took your co-founder to resolve this issue with me when in reality, your team should have been able to easily handle this. So I'm not sure I see "Quality over speed" in this situation as you put in your reply!!
Nontheless, I did get a package, and you are not a scam, so I will respectfully rescind that part from the title of my review.

Ordered the month to month plan as i wanted to test out the products initial box. Disappointed to say the least. A whole month went by and nothing shipped. 2nd monthly charge was up and fortunately for me i had cancelled my CC so they could not charge me. I unsubbed that day. 3 days later i receive an email to say my project has shipped with a tracking number.. Now I must guess as to which shipping company this tracking number applies to. Very poor communication and service so far. Hopefully the project will change my mind. EDIT:They claim they tried to get in touch with me, but I have never received any contact from them other than automated emails to renew my subscription. And yes I did check all my email folders including the junk bin. I had ordered another box from a different seller and same situation arised, however they did sent an email stating the issues with the monthly box. Dropped from 2 stars to 1 star for the lack of truth in their reply...

As a homeschooling mom that travels with our family I have found this subscription box to be a perfect addition to our school. First of all the boxes are compact and easy to take out of the house for my son to do while travelling. Secondly, the subscription can be postponed a month or two and then resumes with the next box in the series. Good thinking Creation Crate for the ability to suspend the renewal temporarily.

Doing business has been easy so far. Subscription has progressed as advertised. My son has liked projects, hopefully they'll get more challenging.
