Generally great! (But maybe reconsider if you're planning on having any boozy nights)
Used Butter for a 4 week trip to Asia. Super easy to get a quote and get started. Their portal to login and view insurance docs and active insurances was great. The PDS is also easy to read and understand compared to other insurers. I fortunately didn't need to make a claim for anything during the trip so can't comment on that.
Only hesitation I had came from some of the general exclusions listed in the PDS. Particularly the restriction on covering any loss that occurs whilst under the influence of alcohol. My understanding is that other insurers will still pay out for claims for loss (e.g. injury if you break a leg or something) as long as your blood alcohol is under four times the legal driving limit. Butter's underwriter will only payout if you are below THE legal driving limit (even if the loss does not involve any form of driving). Not a huge issue, but worth considering if you are planning to have some big nights whilst overseas you might not be covered.
Overall, still a great experience and would recommend to others.

Re the alcohol exclusion, note that this only applies to claims directly caused by the effects of alcohol. E.g. if medical bills arise directly due to a really big night out. However, for other incidents that occur while an insured person is intoxicated, but are not directly caused by the intoxication— eg a phone being pick-pocketed during a night out—this exclusion does not apply.
I hope that provides a little more peace of mind!

Love it. Super easy to apply, get a policy in mins and they accept a wide range of payment methods which including AFTERPAY which is what locked me in. Hoping will not need to put in a claim but am super happy to know they have 24/7 worldwide telephone support. Super happy with my policy..
