The receptionist directed me to the waiting area. No customers were waiting but the two member of staff did not acknowledge me and continued their private conversation for another five minutes. The floor was filthy with dust and hair balls. It would have been no stars if it was not for the professionalism of the receptionist.

This was my first time visiting this opticians. I haven't had an eye-test in years, but felt that my eyesight was starting to get worse. The optician and the other staff were all really helpful, especially seen as I had my 5 year old autistic daugther in tow. They walked me through everything, and helped me choose my first ever set of glasses (Not bad for 45).

I had excellent customer service from Ranjit on the 10th of August spend quality time with me helping me choose my glasses Ranjit always gives hundred percent good customer service very pleased with vist today at boots high street Birmingham

Archaic practices undermining otherwise pleasant staff. I visited the Birmingham store to purchase glasses that I had already chosen after having had an eye test at their Kenilworth branch 12months and 24months prior. Boots systems showed no sign of the prior test (despite me having the booking confirmation on my phone) but did have evidence of the one 24months prior.

Unfortunately however as the prescription was a paper copy only they could not dispense without telephoning Kenilworth to get the opticians consent. To do this they have to phone the main Boots switchboard like the rest of us and there was no answer. As there was no answer that.

It is also not possible to provisionally order the glasses in store and complete without me revisiting as “payment can only be taken in store”. Nothing more could be done and all because Boots have no reliable digital system for your prescription (despite it being 2026).

I would contrast the above with Cubbitts or Glasses Direct who I have ordered from previously and who appear more willing to join the 21st Century.

Arpesh Ruparelia always conducts my eye examination in a thorough, informative and pleasant professional. I feel I can ask any questions and that he is giving me his uninterrupted attention. I contrast this to when I lived in Kingston and went to a larger Boots where this did not happen.

My husband went for an eye test a few days ago.
We saw a fantastic team Betti Sarah and the wonderful optometrist Namrata.
All were extremely welcoming, cheerful, friendly and helpful.
The examination was explained along the way, we felt very comfortable.
I also went a couple of days later and had a similar positive experience.

Attended Wallisdown branch. Very helpful staff. I had an unusual prescription that made the choice of frames more limited but they were very helpful and took time to explain all the costs and different options available to me. Impressed with their care and attention.

My eye test was very thorough then i had Lindanto help me with my glasses/transaction/varyfoucal. She was brilliant very honest, and just explained what i was looking for and honestly she knew her stock she took me straight to the glasses i was looking for then gathered a few more for variation. I even went for glasses that i was not thinking of but absolutely loved them. LINDA is so good at the job and pleased she is now with the Boots Gyle team.

I had an eye test with Geani, the Optometrist at Cockfosters. She said that my prescription had changed only slightly so there was no need to change my lenses this time. However, when I went outside Rod(?) said my reading glass lenses were very scratched, so I said it was ok to replace them. When I collected them I could not read using them, it turned out he had put in some new prescription. He said it was from the notes, but the notes had said no need to change the prescription. I have left my glasses with Boots at Cockfosters and expect you to put back my old prescription with the new unscratched lenses I paid for. How can you help me? I am very upset with the situation.

I have had my glasses for 8 months on the 3 rd time of the arm breaking they said I had to pay for a new pair well just the frame. I’ve had glasses that have lasted me 4 years . It’s a joke it’s the 1st time I went there wasn’t really happy and still not with my prescription so I will not go back there . I have complained to customer services they are taking there time getting back to me. So it’s a NO NO NO TO BOOTS OPTICIANS

On time, helpful staff and experienced eye test received

I wanted a screw put into my glasses as the arm had fallen off and Boots Bournemouth sorted it very quickly. Adriano was very polite, friendly and helpful. I was pleased as my glasses were not even from boots and the service was free.

today as horrible i went into boots i have epilepsy and im colour blind went into boots and was shocked at the horrible service i recieved the man told me that my glasses will cost 120 with a voucher and then told me to pay extra for colours when my prescription barely changed he then told me if i want free glasses to go back to boots in westway for free and that i should by some designer it looks nice on young people i told him no thank you and walked out im disgusted i do not recommed this man was very rude

I went for a free contact lens assessment and trial, as soon as I told her my glasses prescription, she said I couldn't have the assessment or trial because I have a 0.50 prism in my prescription, and you can't have a prism in contact lenses, and she wouldn't prescribe contact lenses without a prism because that's not my prescription and she doesn't know why I have the prism, I'd already told her the prism is just for fatigue due to some neurological issues, she said she also couldn't talk to the optician who prescribed it and she couldn't check my eyes herself. There is several problems with this. First of all, if there are things that prohibit people having a trial, then those questions should be asked, there should be a screening process before making the appointment. I am very disabled and mostly housebound, I literally get out of the house approximately once a week, and its nearly always for an appointment, to waste my time and energy on getting there for no reason, I nearly burst into tears. Also I've now spoken to another optician, and they said contacts without prisms might be fine, they won't know without assessing me, which is exactly what Boots should have done.
