I have had a several year relationship with Yard-O-Led, and it is a company that feels very warm, friendly, and professional (and I live in NYC). From across the pond, I feel valued, and when I purchased my last fountain pen, there were several emails from Alex Roden, who made me feel valued as a person who has always loved my interactions with the company - and Yard-O-Led feels more like a friendship or even a family.

Yard-o-Led writing instruments are no doubt the finest available! And, to top that off, the customer care and service is beyond "world class", and has been throughout the nearly ten years I have been a customer. I live in the USA, and rely on email to communicate with them. My inquiries are ALWAYS answered within the day, and I have had many special orders crafted by Alex over the years. Sharon, the office manager, is so attentive to details, especially with international shipping, receiving and billing. Giles (co-owner of YOL) respects the reputation and integrity of the products and is committed to the legacy. All are a joy with whom to do business! Most recently, I purchased the new Piccadilly pencil necklaces for my daughter and me for Christmas and I am again delighted with the chasing and precision craftsmanship. Each hand turned, chased, and assembled. If you own YOL, you know what I mean; if not, I highly recommend you order a special treasure of your own! It will be an heirloom, for sure!

Yard-O-Led’s silver products are little known in Japan. Yet when I read an interview with the company’s representative in the Japanese magazine Shumi no Bungubako, I was profoundly captivated by the artistry of their craftsmanship. The silhouette of the cap top, the uniquely undulating clip, the spear-like tapering tip, and the Victorian-style engraving on the barrel—all radiate a singular and unmistakable presence.

Fifteen years ago, the price placed it far beyond my reach. In time, however, as my life grew more stable and financially secure, I was at last able to acquire the long-admired Perfecta Victorian Ballpoint Pen through overseas mail order, after the brand’s distributor had withdrawn from Japan. It was a joy that felt like a true reward for my life.

To make it my lifelong treasure, I engraved my initials on the barrel without the slightest hesitation.
