I am a tenant managed by Winchester White, and my experience has been nothing short of appalling.
From day one, we were hounded by the letting agent to secure the deposit despite written information stating we had 24 hours. We received multiple phone calls within 10 hours.
Once paid, they contacted our employers and landlords over the same weekend without giving us a chance to notify them first - completely unprofessional.
On move-in day, nobody told us the building lift was out of service. We also weren’t shown how to operate the hot water system, which required a prepaid card we didn’t receive for days - so no hot water when we moved in.
In under a year, we’ve been through four different property managers due to constant staff turnover. Every time we raised an issue, we were told our manager had left and were passed to someone new with no handover. You never speak to the same person twice.
When our hob broke, the response was painfully slow. My partner was recovering from breast surgery and needed a controlled diet due to being in remission from cancer. It took weeks to replace, leaving us reliant on takeaways for nearly three weeks.
The worst issue has been a severe mouse infestation, including evidence of breeding and dead pups in our living space. We reported this on 14th January and it is now the 29th - 15 days later - with no resolution.
Communication has been inconsistent and at times simply untrue. I’ve had to escalate repeatedly just to get a basic update.
And now, to top it off, they’ve chased us for rent they claim we underpaid - except we haven’t. The tenancy agreement clearly states the rent increase applies from 1st February 2026, not January. They even sent a screenshot of the contract that proves our point, not theirs.
Apparently nobody there actually reads the agreements they send out.
This has been an absolute nightmare.
As a tenant, you are made to feel like your time, your health, and your home don’t matter. As a landlord, I would seriously question their ability to manage properties or retain tenants.
Avoid Winchester White
LANDLORDS AND TENANTS AVOID WW!
I am a tenant under WW, and I am writing to formally complain about the consistently poor and distressing service we have experienced since the start of our tenancy. The overall experience has been unacceptable, unprofessional, and at times damaging to our wellbeing.
After viewing the property, we were repeatedly harassed by the letting agent to secure the deposit. This was despite the written information clearly stating that tenants had 24 hours to do so. We began receiving repeated phone calls in less than 10 hours. This behavior was inappropriate and created unnecessary pressure.
Once the deposit was paid, we were not given reasonable time to notify our employer and landlord. The letting agent sent emails to our employers and landlords over the same weekend the deposit was paid (Saturday), without providing us sufficient notice or opportunity to contact them ourselves. This was both unprofessional and discourteous.
Move-in Issues and Lack of Communication
On the move-in date, no one informed us that the elevator in the building was not working. Our assigned letting manager had an out-of-office message enabled, and no alternative contact or support was provided. The move in process proved to be difficult and we had to hire help twice.
We were also not informed how to operate the hot water system. We later discovered it required a card, which we only received several days after moving in, leaving us without hot water during that time.
Additionally, several basic fixtures in the flat were not functioning upon move-in, including lights and blinds. These issues took approximately three weeks to be repaired. At one point, our property manager attempted to blame us, stating that we should have identified these faults during the viewing, which is unreasonable and unacceptable.
In less than a year of tenancy, we have been assigned four different property managers due to staff leaving the business. Each time we raised an issue, we were told that our previous property manager no longer worked there and were redirected to someone new, without any notice or proper handover. This lack of continuity has severely impacted communication and resolution of issues.
In December, our hob stopped working during a particularly critical time when I was undergoing breast surgery and required a restricted diet due to being in remission from cancer. Despite explaining the urgency and health implications, the agents were slow, unresponsive, and showed little to no empathy. The hob took weeks to be replaced, forcing us to rely on takeaway food for approximately three weeks, which was both costly and detrimental to my health.
Severe Mouse Infestation and Health Concerns
We live in a relatively new building (built in 2015), yet we experienced a serious mouse infestation. While I understand, as an architect, that buildings can have faults, this situation was extreme. We witnessed evidence of breeding, including multiple dead pups found in our living space.
Given my health condition, I expected this issue to be escalated urgently. The complaint was formally raised on 14 January, yet to this day no meaningful or effective action has been taken. Our current property manager has been dismissive and fails to understand—or take seriously—the severity of the situation and the associated health risks.
Furthermore, there have been clear inconsistencies and untruths in communication. For example, when pest control attended, they stated they had been contacted only two days prior, whereas the property manager’s emails claimed they had been contacted six days earlier. This has further eroded our trust.
I have repeatedly had to contact senior staff to escalate issues, chase updates, and effectively do the job that the property manager should be doing. This is not acceptable and places an unreasonable burden on tenants.
This entire experience has been a nightmare. It has made us feel that our voices, our wellbeing, and our health do not matter. As tenants, we have felt ignored, dismissed, and poorly supported throughout our tenancy. From a landlord’s perspective, this level of mismanagement is also likely to discourage long-term tenants and damage trust.

You couldnt ask for better
We arent professional landlords, but more landlords of circumstance. Selling our flat didnt work out, and so we decided to rent it out.
From day one Winchester White have been supportive, proactive and always had our best interests at heart. Recently we tried again to sell the flat, and quickly Jake and the team proposed they try and find a short let to fill the gap between rental and sale. This is the sort of proactive thinking we valued, giving us options to move forward with, even when we didnt think there were any.
Jake is a kind and competent lettings manager who i put full trust in, to deliver on our best interests. He took the stress out of property management whilst we were busy dealing with a new baby.
We wont hesitate to use Winchester White in the future.

Over and above
Finding a property in London is a minefield, however Winchester White provided excellent and prompt communication, with Ed going over and above to ensure that both me and my partner could view the property at short notice. Additionally holding discussions with the landlord on our behalf and vouching for us as tenants, ultimately ending up with a rental property that we couldn’t be happier with.
