In late 2022 this company came to do our downstairs bathroom to say tha there workforce was horrendous.. They didn't speak a word of English and found them smoking Drugs.. So we mentioned it to the site manager and he apologized and said he would get it sorted, because we said we did not those particular staff members in our home in our home as they were smoking drugs at our door.. This is going on nearly 2 years now and still nothing rang up our local housing office and they said that the company will not work for us as we were aggressive lies all lies when we called we were abused on the phone by a manager and I asked him to come to the house and see the work they had done, he refused and told us that he would not work for us as their staff were professional... The managers are rude and aggressive on the phone but if you meet them outside and doing projects on the road they would nearly lick your boots.. 💯💯Avoid this company at all costs.

Although the company hasn’t got a very good reputation, the operative which visited my house to conduct a energy survey who is independent and drove from Leeds to London to complete the jobs was very considerate, friendly and knowledgeable and answered every question that I had with good details and dealt with any concerns I had.

So my experience with wates group was actually a good one despite the bad reviews on trustpilot.

2 hours 12 mins on phone...no one answered!!!! An afternoon of wages lost AGAIN waiting for workman to turn up !!!!!! Twice in 2 weeks !!!!

Avoid terrible company that subcontract the work out to cowboys

They don't respond to emails, constantly cancel repairs last minute, very disorganised and chaotic but of course Harrow Council award them another huge contract for their poor services, really does say it all

Absolutely useless.

On hold for nearly two hours and still no answer. Recorded message says 'high call volume'. How about employing enough staff to answer the calls?

In what universe is it reasonable to have customers on hold for nearly two hours and still not answer?

Terrible company never answe the phone been waiting nearly 2 weeks for an emergency repair which has resulted in being with out washing facilities absolute disgrace

When you tell someone that they need to stay at home for a 4 hour window for an EXTERNAL repair, TURN UP!!!!!!

Wet room fitted for my disabled child by wates sheffield leaks after 6 weeks they come out cut a big hole in kitchen ceiling no where near the leak and said it wasn't leaking and left I made the hole bigger to discover its leaking in 3 different places and the shower tray is not supported properly and moves about, the hole bathroom has just been thrown in the workers are real cowboys I will be taking this further it's disgusting work these cowboys need naming and shaming leaving my disabled child with this mess of a wet room I have taken pictures of all the bodged work and will be sending it to sheffield star

The biggest expenditure of my entire life as a leaseholder due to major works being carried out on the tower block where I live and Wates cannot turn up for a prearranged kitchen survey appointment, nor give me the courtesy of letting me know, waste my time and they don't pick up the phone. Looking at the other reviews perhaps it's best if I don't have a new kitchen at all and allow Wates to poke around with shoddy workmanship and make things worse. I'm not waiting in for them again,

I am writing another review due to it being over two months and work is still not finished , they have damaged my appliances broke my household items left paint on my appliances no one gets back to you, I have messages that no one replies back to, I have unanswered calls , i STRONGLY ADVISE THAT YOU DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY THEY ARE RUDE AND DONT HAVE A CLUE WHAT THEY ARE DOING AND NO COMMUNICATION SKILLS WHATSOVER!

There have been many issues experienced with this company. The most recent issue is that I've been waiting for an appointment to be arranged for over a year. Does anyone answer calls? Whenever the council calls their office to enquire why an appointment hasn't been made – they get nothing. The office opening hours are pathetic (something like 12:00 to 15:00), what on earth are they doing? The management of this company is extremely poor. There's a desperate need for either retraining or replacing managers. Great managers make great teams that result in a great business, but this is not the case here!

One finger doesn’t even know what the next finger is doing. Between Wates and Southern housing I have lost the plot. My mum is 82 and has had no heating for over a year now. At least 30-40 engineers have come. Sometimes not even knowing what they have come for. I have also been lied to about them trying to get in-touch with me, they haven’t! Whatever company the maintenance team are from, they dropped off 2 fan heaters after midnight! And this was only in the last few days! Both boxes were mouldy and wet with damp…. WHO DOES THAT?!?!

Would THEY live like this or let their loved ones live like this?! I have missed so much work due to this too

I reported a problem with damp and mould in January 2023 in my home to West Lancashire district Council. Now being November I am still with a botched job. I consider myself to be a good council tenant and look after my home with pride If I could mark a minus on the reviews I would. A very disappointed tenant. I actually cannot find the right word to express how I feel. Over the past few months I've even sent pictures directly to wates emails and still nothing has been done. They haven't even tried contacting or calling me to find out what the problem is Very disappointing. I am also disappointment with how the council has handled this, at one point i was told by a senior manager that once a problem was reported to Wates it was down to them how they dealt with it it was not for them to interfere. Who actually pays these peoples wages.... God knows what rents and council tax goes on because it definitely is not on good workmanship nor on customer service training.

I had a horrible experience on the phone today with Wates when chasing up on a repair they had not completed for a leak. The staff i spoke to were the most rude and condescending people I have ever come across.

After sitting on hold for 25 minutes, the first woman I spoke to asked for my details and then without asking passed me back to the property developers phone line where I then had to start from square 1 again. After spending another half an hour on hold, the second person I spoke to interrupted me whilst I was explaining the situation and was shockingly rude. I felt he was mimicking my voice and speaking in a condescending tone. He also said that I didn’t appear anywhere on their system, despite them literally sending contractors out to my property 2 weeks ago.

I would strongly discourage anyone from using Wates in the future.

The customer service is very poor on the phone. Needs proper training

A repair to my bathroom light,which I have been unable to switch off for over a week, was arranged with them through my Housing Association for today between 8am and 1pm.

They have not bothered to inform me if they are or are not attending today. I have had no communication from them at all.

They are a complete and utter shambles and I have told my Housing Association this.

If I could give less than 1 star,I would.I am not happy

I can’t believe all the negative reviews on here. I’ve had 2 repairs carried out by a Wates Contractor.
Last week I had a blockage & leak under my kitchen sink, George attended my home which is a Notting Hill Genesis property, he fixed the problem really quickly.
Today Aiden came and fixed a leaking toilet, replaced a flexi waste pipe.
Both were respectful of my home and cleaned up after themselves.

Customer services cannot be worse. over 45 minutes of the phone, then put on hold and line disconnected. Rude lady who does not introduce herself and resistant to give me her name. Poor communication.
Contractor employed by Peabody housing that does awful job at residents address but does not allow complaints.
