I had a consultation with Dr Ball and David Anderson for a revision of a hair transplant undertaken in Turkey which gave a very unnatural hairline. As a female this was very distressing. I had seen his work on a female ballerina and this what enticed me to contact the clinic. I found both gentlemen very professional non judgemental and gave me a realistic account of what to expect. They advised that the work done in Turkey left a rather harsh hairline and that when using the micro camera that in fact 2 hairs had been put in when only one should be there which gave the unnatural look. I felt confident that they could repair this and give a much more natural and feminine hairline. I intend to have the procedure undertaken in the next month or so. JT

My hairline has been slowly receding since I was 19 and as I am approaching 40, I felt that it was time to go and see someone about it.
After doing extensive research and trying to find a good Doctor/clinic to possibly carry out a procedure ,Dr Ball at the Maitland Clinic kept coming up time and time again with praise for his aprroach to his patients and the results that he has achieved.
On the day of my consultation,I first met David Anderson who was fantastic as he put me at ease straightaway. David has a wealth of knowledge in regards to hair loss treatments and gave me some great advice.
Dr Ball came into the room about halfway through the consultation,he examined my hair with a very exciting camera device to see if my donor hair was suitable(which it was) and the same time giving me a running commentary of what he was seeing which I found very helpful.
After a discussion about what I was looking to have done,he then drew a hairline on my head which I was really pleased with.
Dr Ball came across as very friendly and most importantly very driven to ensure that the result is the best that it could be,he is obviously obsessed about what he does which is exactly what I was looking for.

Extremely helpful and gave me some really good advice when I felt at my lowest. Hair loss has begun very early for me and I was at a loss of what to do. The Maitland Clinic offer a free consultation service to give you all the advice you need. The doctor I saw - Mr Anderson, was polite and was very empathic with me about something I felt very sensitive to. I went into the clinic not knowing the future about my hair loss and came out with a plan that could prevent and perhaps even reverse it and how much did they make from my visit? Nothing. They offered all this advice free of charge.

They offer surgeries for people with more advanced hair loss than myself, but none of that was even offered to me as they clearly value patient satisfaction above all else.

Would highly, highly recommend.

With this said it quickly became easy to ask questions and approach them both about my requirements. I recently met with Dr Edward Ball and David Anderson for a consultation at The Maitland Clinic in Portsmouth to review my current position. I have previously received two transplants in 2012 at a well regarded clinic in Europe but was left a little disappointed with the overall yield.
My impression of Dr Ball and David is one whereby a thorough and honest review of my current hair status was provided with a potential outcome that could be achieved,this is given in a totally professional and relaxed manner.
Time was not an issue as every question was answered and a series of photographs taken with an estimate of grafts given for my procedure.
I left feeling very positive that my expectations with a limited donor could be met. The consultation review received from David was very timely and a subsequent telephone conversation confirmed my appointment for my procedure.

All the reviews I've read about The Maitland Clinic echo my own experience with Dr. Ball and his team: OUTSTANDING! From the moment I walked through the door at 7.30a.m. for my 3545 graft FUT procedure, the whole day just seemed to breeze by in a relaxed and undaunted manner, with a remarkable team of up to 8 working diligently and professionally until 11.00p.m. I consider myself to be somewhat of a perfectionist, but the attention to detail I received before and after my surgery even had me taken aback. Everything was reassuring, calm, and catered for.
Thank goodness I did my research, even considering going to America, Israel, or Belgium, but waiting instead to find the very best closer to home. I recommend Dr. Ball and his team with a zeal that might sound over the top, but they really are that good, and being, what is for most, a very sensitive issue, this is THE place to go for a hair transplant. The consultation was amazing, The doctor and David answered all my questions, in a very professional way. They didn't push at all to me having the surgery and they suggest to see a Hair doctor before carrying on to be sure of everything is perfect. Also, they request a blood test, this proves how serious they are.

I have recently had a consultation with Dr David Anderson at Harely street. I have had many other consultations with other companies in London and most of them seemed like they didn't know what was the best plan of action for me and some felt like hard sales tactics only after the money. The consultation with Dr Anderson at Maitland clinic was the best one so far. He explained everything to me in detail, my options, solutions and what would be the best course of action for me. He gave me plenty of time and answered all my questions with honesty, he told me about his own experiences and what worked and didn't work for him. He then assessed and analyzed my scalp with a magnifying camera, and advised I get on medication for at least a year to see if any improvements are made being progressing further. I felt the consultation was very informative and ethical, I felt reassured after leaving.

Had an excellent consultation with David Anderson at the Maitland Clinic. From beginning to end, the experience was welcoming, comfortable and above all highly informative, providing me with invaluable professional advice on how to proceed with the next stage of treating my hair loss.

The reception staff were friendly and accomodating, offering me a drink while I waited.

The consultation itself was incredibly useful in helping to know what I should do next. David firstly assessed my own hair loss history and we discussed the things I'd tried so far to slow my hair loss. He then detailed the different options available at the clinic and the pros and cons of each in relation to my situation. Finally, David examined my scalp and identified what my final pattern of loss would be, advised on the viability of my donor hair and assessed scalp laxity.

Throughout, David was personable, thorough and patient. Not once did I feel anything was being "pushed" to sell and it was clear that personalised patient care was the priority rather than trying to steer me into surgery immediately.

I would urge anybody who is serious about treating their hair loss to visit the Maitland Clinic. The other reviews on here suggest that the surgery and after care are of a very high quality too.

based on my first visit, i had a very interesting and informative consultation. i have been left with the positive impression that the Maitland clinic will do what's best for me, rather than what will make them the most money.

Had my first hair transplant with a different clinic in the UK, I thought I had a decent result but decided to shop around for my second. After lots of research and several consultations I opted for Dr Ball. They have lots of real patient who have documented their results with pictures. This was a big plus for me.
Had 1500 Fue grafts with them 11 months ago. Absolutely amazing growth. I'm so happy with the result. During surgery the care and attention to detail were second to none. It made me realise how my first HT was mediocre.

I'm now 5 days post op after a 1600 FUE procedure with Dr Ball at the Maitland Clinic.

After an enourmous amount of research, and two previous consultations with other clinics, I was no closer to understanding whether hair restoration would be a good idea for me. At 46, my hair loss wasn't severe, however the front had been thinning since age 40 and I could no longer grow my hair out and style it the way I wanted. I had parked the idea waiting for that eureka moment.

That eureka moment came when I saw a case study of a 23 year old ballerina who had her hairline reconstructed by the Maitland clinic. The skill and refinement appeared way beyond what I'd seen from other clinics who showed me photos and videos of their "completely natural and undetectable" results......they were mediocre thatch jobs in my eyes. Part of the problem for me in committing to the process was being aware that my expectations were very high, however as I looked at the pictures, I doubted they were any higher than the young ballerina's would have been.

Further research into the Maitland clinic revealed more of what I considered to be outstanding results, and a growing list of extremely happy clients.

I drove to Hampshire for my initial consultation where I met firstly with David Anderson, senior patient advisor and then Dr Ball. I won't labour the point about what fantastic guys David and Edward are, as I know several fantastic guys back home, but sadly none of them can perform a world class hair transplant. Everything David said about my case tied up with my research.

Going into the consultation I already had no doubts about Dr Balls credentials, my main concern was actually me......were my expectations too high? Was I bringing the right materials to the table to allow a top notch job to be done? Dr Ball examined my hair firstly with a comb and then using magnification projected onto an iPad so we could see the extent of the thinning. As he sat back down still gazing at my hair, working things through in his own head, I could see he understood exactly what needed to be done, and from the look in his eye I could tell he genuinely believed he could make an outstanding job of my hair. Unlike other clinics, he didn't overstate that point - I didn't want or need to hear hollow marketing or promises, I just needed to see that look in his eye. For me, this was an essential confidence builder.

I left convinced that this was the clinic for me. Further research revealed Janna Shafer an award winning Technician trained under the esteemed Dr Shapiro from Minnesota was also working with Dr Ball in Hampshire, this really was the A-team right on my doorstep.

The night before my op I met with Dr Ball to go over the plan. To say I had some opinions on how my hairline should look is a bit like saying that the Pope has some opinions on the existence of God. That said, I'm not so silly (or arrogant) as to think that my ideas in this area exceed Dr Balls, the blueprint had to be a coming together of my aspirations with the insight and expertise of somebody who has carried out 1000's of proecedures. I think it's very important as a patient that you understand what your objectives are, and what sort of hairline you will be comfortable with - you will see it every time you look in the mirror for life, so if you brain doesn't immediately recognise the shape, then you probably need to work on refining it. It took us around an hour just going through this process before we were both comfortable, and even then, there was further refinement the next morning after I'd spent the evening in the hotel studying the lines on my head Dr Ball had drawn.

The op itself was beyond smooth, after a terrible nights sleep, I dozed through most of the day. Pain wise, you hit about a 5 out of 10 when the numbing injections go in, and after that, you feel little or nothing (you hear the odd crunch which is quite amusing).

When I left around 6pm, I couldn't believe how clean I looked, not remotely like the pictures of the "war wounded" you see on YouTube, my head was just a bit red and I was wobbly on my feet, but I was feeling good, good enough to spend 5 mins chatting to another prospective patient David was consulting with.

It's early days, but I couldn't be happier, the speed with which my scalp healed tells me the graft uptake should be very high and I just have a feeling......this little feeling, that I'm going to love the final results.

If you think you'd be happy with a mediocre thatch job, or are inclined to go with the lowest bidder, then there are other clinics in the UK perfectly capable of meeting your needs, but if like me your looking for world class results in the UK then I believe this is the only place to go.

In the next few weeks I am undergoing my second FUT procedure - my 1st procedure was a total success and I was overjoyed with the result. I decided to undergo a second procedure to add density to my new hairline and bring it forward slightly.

Just prior to the first consultation I was apprehensive and nervous about undergoing a hair transplant - however after the consultation I knew 100% I was making the correct decision.
