It's pretty bad
Cancelling is a pain.
Edit: After a terrible initial customer service experience I was called back and had an excellent one resolving my issues - thank you.
I still believe the online subscription portal needs to be simplified.
---------------------
The cancellation process is archaic. Utterly absurd to waste half an hour on the phone - subscriber base must be 70+.
Paper itself not bad, but cancelling all my subscriptions with them to avoid wasting time in the middle of the day.
Pathetic newspaper service
I hadn’t realised how poor the Telegraph reviews were until I came to add my disgust at their behaviour. Also news to me was my £49 renewal for a service I don’t receive, articles I can’t read, crosswords I can’t download. Will some person please reveal to me what I am paying for!
Scam
Scam, take money from account and no way you’re getting it back
Avoid
Shill for the extreme right
The right-wing bias of this newspaper is so blatant, so unfiltered, that it feels owned by the Trump administration (in the form of a British puppeteer). Really? Why not entertain a little variety of opinion? What are you afraid of?
500% Subscription increase can't cancel online
£29 subscription increased to £150
Have to waste my time calling them to cancel
Real scammers
Should be illegal
Would be a great Telegraph story on ripping Brits off
How to lose customers
Like so many other reviewers I subscribed to the trial period but found it very difficult to cancel. I have not used their service but have been charged for it and tried in vain to find an email link to allow me to cancel (apparently you have to make a phone call). I used to read the Telegraph in print form but now I want nothing to do with it. I will never read the Telegraph again in any format.
Increasing censorship of comments.
I have been reading the DT for quite a few years.
I like to comment but it has become increasingly difficult to navigate the ever growing minefield of expressions, words and phrases, once commonplace to our parents, without have one’s comment removed.
This is entirely arbitrary on DTs part as they censor without any explanation as to why.
The staff writers, deliberately or otherwise, write clickbait articles guaranteed to elicit a strong response, but when the censors get them they delete.
What is the point of commenting if one is just going to agree? Another commenter who regularly submitted intelligent responses (I didn’t always agree with her, but isn’t that the point of debate?) has recently cancelled her subscription.
I, unlike many commenters, never ever applaud enthusiastically at the killing of innocents in conflicts bur seemingly to do so is perfectly acceptable if it complies with censorship rules.
I have been banned again but I have absolutely no idea why.
So today I am cancelling my subscription.
Perhaps DT are aiming to filter out all comments which don’t agree with the narrative.
Censorship of viewers comments
After a bad expereience last week I was curious if it was me and I hadnt fully understood the community guidelines. Despite rewording my comment serveral times, careful with any word that could be taken out of context and reposting my comment on Starmer. Low and behold it was removed again after 12 minutes. Now Im perplexed until I googled The Telegraph comments AI where i discovered moderation is subjective and it evens says its difficult to remain neutral. So I'll tranlate if you have a opposting view its not welcome. Only echo chamber views allow. So much for freedom of speech and expression.
Terrible
Terrible, not even an email to say my subscription would be renewing, then a whopping charge for the whole year.
Ridiculously hard to cancel
Ridiculously hard to cancel. I've been a subscriber for five years but I can't go through the hassle of calling them every 12-months to haggle the price down.
Every time it renews they try and charge me some absurd amount - £149 most recently. If you call you can usually negotiate it down to something between £30 - 50.
However, I really can't be bothered doing this anymore so have just decided to cancel.
You will call and be met by some incredibly pushy salesman, who'll constantly try and offer you a new price to stay.
They're essentially trying to rip-off loyal customers and I'm not willing to go through their farcical process anymore.
Not so much a newspaper more a sort of…
Not so much a newspaper more a sort of Dignitas for moribund journalists.
Completely bias
Completely bias, bought and paid for by the israeli government.
Impossible to cancel
Impossible to cancel a recurring US subscription after teaser period, apparently by design. Email notifying you of imminent renewal is from a do not reply email address and the online cancellation process results in a technical error message regardless of which platform or browser you use over multiple days. Only telephone number given is a UK number with reports of lengthy hold times. I’ve been the victim of “roach motel”subscriptions before but the Daily Telegraph really takes the cake. This practice is bordering on fraud.
Worst customer service ever!
Worst customer service ever!! Have to call up to cancel - on the live chat the person took forever to respond and then left the chat. When I called up, I just heard background noise for ages, someone spoke to me for 2 minutes and just hung up too!!! What a joke!! It’s like they’re trying to scam me so that I can’t unsubscribe
disgusting article by Elenor mills
what a traitor to our royal family. no better than Harry himself. if you think the Royals should "welcome him back because that's what families do" . NO THEY DONT. I don't know what fairytale world Eleanor mills lives in but she could do well to remember what that famous Kipling said . the leopard can't change its spots. think again.
I won't be buying this paper again.
Cancel your free trial, they're thieves.
Signed up for a 'free trial' of their puzzles at some point... don't even remember doing it. Can't have played it more than once and stupidly forgot to cancel the trial. Been charged £50 for a year. Cancelled it now (a month too late!), went through loads of 'Offers to stay' that took it down to as little as £5 for a year. Feel royally mugged off by the Telegraph. not impressed, and would not recommend
Don't trust their Readers' Comments…
UPDATE
The Telegraph were so desperate for Readers, they begged me to come back. Fair enough. Some articles are good. Yet, I immediately discovered that I'm not allowed to post comments – because I don't pass their "Tory Supporter" censorship rules. FO, Telegraph. Hopefully, like the rest of the MSM, you'll soon be a bad memory.
Don't trust their Readers' Comments section. If you're not 'on message' your comments will be deleted and, eventually, you'll receive a permanent ban. This is "free speech" Telegraph style.
They do have some good articles and, recently, have done some good investigative journalism. But, never forget, they're still part of the MSM and don't practice what they preach on free speech.
If you subscribe you should cancel soon…
If you subscribe you should cancel soon and they’ll offer you it for almost free so they can keep feeding you their pro war propaganda and substandard journalism which is mainly their own writers having a real life experience and being shocked by it. Even almost free I had to give it up
A good newspaper ruined by a…
A good newspaper ruined by a subscription method that is verging on the fraudulent. You can't cancel auto-renewal online, so I had to go through an inquisition by phone to cancel it. Having seen other comments about the Telegraph's access to bank accounts despite cancellation, I have turned off the pre-authorisation (direct debit) on Paypal.
