Even after accepting an email renewal offer price The Telegraph still put through the charge at £379. Spent 20mins in a queue to discuss and ended up cancelling altogether because the operative kept telling me it was my own fault.
Its ironic that the Telegraph publishes articles about exploitative pricing practices of Sky, BT etc then proves themselves even worse.

I’ve been charged 14.99 for a subscription I have no knowledge about, I downloaded the app but did not subscribe so how did they get my bank details and who gave them the right to take money from my bank without my consent? Is business that bad for them that they now take subscriptions from people that never subscribe? what's going on telegraph

Cancelled Subscription on 20th September but they are still taking payment every month even though they have confirmed I don’t have a subscription! I’ve even sent proof of my cancellation but they have took another one today.

The BBC, home of Strictly, East Enders, Traitors, Radio Archers, Match of the Day, has certainly gone feminist woke, but exposed the BBC to being trumped to death by The Telegraph makes the Telegraph and its Judas the most hated newspaper in Britain.

Subscription trap which my teenage daughter fell foul of. Free subscription for 3 months, then hit with £25 charge without a reminder email or any other communication. Customer service told her she needed to pay more attention to the initial contract! It's a sad business practise and they lack decency. Breaks the consumer legislation coming into force sadly not quick enough (DMCC Act 2024) and I hope they remain lazy until this arrives as I would love to see them fined for their poor ethics.

They advertise that you can cancel your auto-renewal at any time. But you can't online. So when it comes to your renewal they send you a new quote with a 1,000% increase from £29 to £269. You then have to call them, wait in a queue of 20 for over 30. minutes to get an answer, their call-back doesn't work, simply cuts you off. Then begins the process of the call-handler trying to make out you are such a valued customer they will get it down to just £49 a year, a mere 40% increase. You complain and they say, OK, we'll do it for £39 a year, again over 30%. It is so random, I just cancelled. I won't subscribe unless there is an easy and transparent way of handling and renewing my subscription. For a newspaper who holds others to account, the Telegraph's own standards could do with a serious overhaul.

So a day after cancelling, I get an email offering me the original price of £29. That was 4 different rates I was offered - £269, £49, £39, £29 for the same subscription. It's like haggling in a market, it demeans the client. It's not about the price itself, it's the lack of respect.

Sunday lunch was exceptional

I have just noticed daily telegraph has been taking money out of my PayPal account for two months and I have never knowingly subscribed to their paper. I have never even wanted to so how on earth has this happened. Tried to go onto customer services to complain and ask for a refund and there is nowhere you can contact a person.

I signed up to this 1 year free trial offer on access to puzzles last year. I used it for a maximum of 1 hour and forgot about it until I received an email notifying me I will start getting charged next week. I logged in to cancel and found out I have to chat or call to cancel. The person online told me she can only cancel my subscription effective 2026 because I signed up for two years - 1 year free and 1 year paid for £17.99. I then called because I wasn't going to let anyone scam me and thankfully the guy on the phone eventually cancelled it effective immediately. I used to have the opinion that I would choose Telegraph if I were to sign up to a newspaper online, not anymore. I'm disgusted at their antics! I wonder how many elderly people they scam everyday by confusing them.

I got a free trial with the Telegraph, but they made it almost impossible to cancel.

I finally got through to a customer service agent, who was rude to me and argued with me instead of helping, and they refused to refund me.

As a subscriber, I enjoyed leaving comments in relation to many of the articles published in The Telegraph. However, they employ moderators who effectively run amok in their zeal to delete comments, especially in relation to anything to do with Islam. Freedom of speech on the Telegraph is a complete joke!

Con artists. Spoke to them prior to my subscription to confirm the renewal price. They have charged me 6 times the price and have failed to refund me when contacting them directly. They just constantly try to upsell you on the phone.

Complete frauds, who clearly don't care about their customers - steer clear.

It's absolutely disgusting to read so many sensationalised fake news, this paper (if we can even call ot that) is literally far-right propaganda mixed up with QAnon theories and non-stop racist attacks, a truly revolting publication

I Havel close-vision issues and have always expanded the text when reading the digital version. Just adjusting the font size is insufficient. I have contacted the Telegrsph at least 6 times without any response but eventually phoned, waited for ages, and was told that they know about the problem but they don’t know when it will be sorted.

No advice about renewal and straight £199 charges with no advance warning

Paper bangs on about the establishment being out of tune with the public and stiffing the electorate over with higher and higher bills and they pull a stunt like this, just as bad in my mind

Terrible renewal process and a pain to cancel. Email saying it was going to renew at much higher price then had to spend 10 minutes trying to cancel the subscription. Do not recommend subscribing.

Nasty newspaper, the editors would be behind bars in most decent places, but they are allowed to spout racist falsehoods because Britain you know..
