The team from Steppes and partners in India made this "safari" to a rather far-flung location, Ladakh, wholly seamless! Domestic travel; the accommodations and meals; and most importantly, the drivers, spotters, and guides were all truly excellent. While there any never be any guarantees of what one will see and whether the weather will cooperate - this trip was full of outstanding sightings of snow leopards, eurasian lynx, ibex, urial, baral, foxes, tibetan wolves, lammergeiers, and golden eagles. Just be prepared for the altitude (12,000-14,000 feet) and the cold (consistently well below freezing)!

Our Kenyan journey from place to place all ran so smoothly, whether it was being met at various airports, driven to hotels, camps and so on. All the drivers and other people who met us were all very helpful and friendly.

The safari camps very homely, well run and delicious food. Our guides very good at spotting many different animals and they had good knowledge. We were also lucky to have very nearly new jeeps to be driven around in!

The hotel in Watamu lovely and right on the beach. The bedrooms exceptionally spacious and wonderful views.

Of course none of this would have happened without the knowledge, all the interest and the time which Steppes Travel spent on getting our holiday just right. Thank you.

Accommodations were great, transfers were seamless, the app was extremely useful (particularly the in-app messaging) and communication with both in-country & UK travel agents was excellent. The "holiday of a lifetime" was just that!

What did I like about it?
Very well planned trip- thank you Steppes. Excellent food, lovely eco-lodges, amazing wildlife sightings and experiences, knowledgeable and helpful guides, great host. Guyana is all round fabulous. But make sure you visit sustainably and get there before it becomes too touristy.
Then a deluxe stop in St Lucia just finished the holiday in style.

This was my third trip with Steppes. Overall we had a very good holiday. We didn't love some of the hotels selected for us. Made me realise I need to be more precise in describing the type of hotel we prefer. As ever everything was very well organised, OUr driver/guide in Sri Lanka was excellent

The care taken by everyone at Steppes Travel is the reason why we travel with them over and over. They are brilliant at arranging all our holidays, worldwide.

The hotels were all wonderful and the destination host did a great job coordinating our itinerary and solving minor problems.

Kenya Safari. The meticulous planning, preparation and information provided by Steppes was outstanding and we couldn't have been clearer or better prepared about all of the stages and logistics of our trip. I can report that everything came together like clockwork. We were met and ferried everywhere exactly as expected. All of the representatives we encountered acted courteously, were welcoming and extremely helpful at all times. We really couldn't have been looked after any better, throughout the whole trip. I can't thank Steppes, especially Chris and Deborah, enough for making all that happen - it really takes the stress out of the whole trip and fully lived up to our expectations, based on our previous trips with you.

Lovely Illona gave us great advice and we are thrilled with the hotel she suggested for us , really amazing service and beautiful villa accommodation overlooking the sea, could not have been more stunning and relaxing ! She followed the brief to a T

This wonderful tour hits all the highlights, --- Taj Mahal, Red Fort, Amber Fort etc., --- and includes more remote treasures such as the Bundi Palace, atop which sits the "Sistine Chapel of Rajasthan" and the Kishingargh Fort, that houses a small private collection of Mughal paintings. Temples, forts, mosques and palaces abound in both the Hindu and Mughal styles and cannot help but astound even the most worldly traveller.

The whole tour, led by the incomparable Ursula Weekes, was perfectly organized and choreographed, with excellent local guides and exceptional hotels and restaurants. Wherever we went we were treated like royalty, and at the Sufi Temple in Ajmer the group was conducted into the dargah by the Dewan himself. Nightly discussions about the art helped to illuminate and put in context what was seen and what was to come …. Ursula talks about art and architecture in a way that is both accessible and exciting, and it was the privilege of a lifetime to take this private tour with such an erudite scholar, who is also just a lovely person with which to spend two weeks traveling.

There is a bit of driving involved on some pretty rough roads, but the activity level is low: we didn’t walk more than 3 or 4 miles a day, although some of the palaces, at Bundi and Udaipur for example, require taking steep steps to see the incredible frescoes and marble majals at the top. That being said the effort pays off and also a huge shout-out to Vic and Vijendra, the local guides who facilitated our movements from the airports to the hotels with such finesse that it totally dispelled the notion that India is chaotic and unmanageable. Bravo Steppes!

India:A Private View focused on art and architecture but also included exposure to daily life, superb hotels and restaurants. An English art historian opened our eyes to the glories of Mughal and Rajput architecture and art. The Indian guide managed flawlessly the logistics and also provided much cultural and historical context as we proceeded. They were a great team.

Fantastic knowledge and service- unfortunately due to close family death had to cut our 18 day holiday short after only 3 days but Steppes really did step up to the plate and organised everything to get us back to the ok next day from bookies in Costa Rica- John Faithful has been brilliant and we will certainly look to book again through steppes next year.

Provided a really useful service in removoing the admin burden of working out where to stay and booking flights. Communicated well with the guides and drivers on the ground in India so that our dietary requirements were known about. All but one of the drivers and guides were polite, friendly and accommodating. The staff in England really knew the areas well that we were visiting so they were able to advise on the best places for us to visit. We came away with a host of memories that will last a lifetime.

Steppes organised a truly unique trip to India, involving participation in the once in 12 year Kumbh Mela festival. Everything worked like magic for our small group but we didn’t underestimate the huge effort in the preparation and successful execution.

This was an excellent holiday, arranged at relatively short notice. The itinerary combined all of the experiences we anticipated at the right level of comfort and cost.
