The trip was, as always, well organized, bot on the part of Steppes Travel and its contractee, Deccan Odessey! Despite the guest lecturer (William Dalrymple) dropping out for the first half of the trip, the additional lecturer, Anirudh Kanisetti, was superb and having both of them for three days was excellent.
Sally from Steppes made sure that everything worked from a Steppes perspective and the Deccan Odyssey team made sure we were well fed and over-watered; trips functioned; engines changed when hit by bullocks, etc, etc.
After my initial reaction when I had convinced myself that we were all going to be in our 40s (total imagination!), I realised that we had a superb group of co-travellers (as on other Steppes trips, I had taken!)

We have travelled with Steppes before and chose them this time because of the time they took to build a trip that was exactly what we wanted, and because all the arrangements worked flawlessly.
They did the same on this trip, but when my wife fell ill, and we had to cancel the trip partway through, they did everything they could to help, including local arrangements, flight bookings and support with the insurance claim.
The real proof of how good a travel company can be is seen when things go wrong- and Steppes really were superb. I could not recommend them more highly.

Paul was terrific to work with! We couldn't have been happier with our trip. He was very patient with all of my questions and made sure everything was just right. We are grateful and look forward to using Steppes for our next trip!

Well organised trip, plenty of information, good communication

Steppes Travel gave me great advice regarding accomodation and additional fun tours for my recent trip to Cambodia.
The agent set up a great itinerary and followed up with good service throughought the process of booking the holiday and while I was on holiday.
Like previous holidays with Steppes, they were friendly, helpful and totally reliable.

Excellent customer service and communication via the app and email, wouldn't hesitate using Steppes for my next holiday.

In general communication with Steppes was very responsive. However my preference would have been for more transparency regarding costs associated with activities that were being considered. I would also have appreciated being advised specifically that smaller denomination US$ are preferred for tipping.
All travel bookings, transfers and activities were well organized, well curated ran smoothly.
Our guides and drivers in BA, Montevideo and Iguazu were excellent. I especially appreciated the consistency of the same guide on various excursions in BA. Natalia was top notch and did more to assist us than Maryanne.
In terms of accommodation The Nuss hotel was not up to the standards of our other hotels. Loi Suites Iguazú was a beautiful room and location but the dining provided on site was very basic.
We felt safe and were aware of resources we could contact for problems or concerns.

This was a thrilling and immersive tour of an often chaotic but always stunningly beautiful country. The scenery was literally breathtaking and our guides’ (Paul & Marisol) geographical, cultural and historical knowledge ensured we were imbued with a real sense of the country we had travelled so far to see. In addition, their leadership, attention to detail and problem-solving abilities, combined with a genuine concern about our wellbeing, ensured our experience, or perhaps we should call it adventure, was complete.
Our vehicles were comfortable and well equipped and came stocked with snacks and treats, - just in case the sumptuous picnic lunches were not adequate!
Our four-night stay in Cusco, - in quite a luxurious hotel, - was a welcome break from driving and Steppes had arranged a day trip to Machu Picchu for us while we were there, involving a slightly complex journey of taxi, rail, bus and walking. We were met by guides at each stage and everything went smoothly, ensuring the day was a highlight of the entire trip.
In conclusion, this most memorable of experiences was a huge success for us, thanks to the care and professionalism of all involved. Five stars well earned.

A superbly designed trip taking us deep into the Andes to the untouched parts of Peru other tourists will not see, in fact I don’t think outside of Cusco & the Sacred Valley, Nazca and Lima we saw any other European tourists the whole trip.

They were very easy to work with and quick to respond. The guides and drivers were great. The cars were very comfortable which is a big thing for me.

The organisation of our trip was outstanding, everything worked really well. The guides were knowledgeable and informative and the selection of sights and experiences were varied and gave us a great insight into Japan.

It was a magical experience, and all I have is praise for the wonderful care and service we received from everyone , guides, camp staff etc .
My only comment would have been that it was a very hot time of the year to go, and I did find the heat enervating at times, and would have loved to have seen more water in the Luangwa River , but on the other hand we wouldn’t have seen so many animals vying for water at the water holes and river , I loved Chongwe for kayaking ,fishing and trips on the water , though less game . I only have praise !

just for your information;
Thanda tented camp is showing some signs of lack of attention to detail such as scuffed and worn paintwork. it all looks a bit tired. Game drives excellent, Food okay but nothing to write home about.
Fugitive’s Drift outstanding; would go again tomorrow.

The trip was everything that i could have expected - and more. Both our local guide, Oner, and British leader, ian Colvin, were first class

Very personal service and a great team on the ground too - all the guides and the office staff sorting new bookings with monsoon cancellations etc. Would definitely use these guys again

The flights worked well, the hotels were not bad, one was lovely (Bukhara), the other would have pleased Donald Trump (Samarkand), all glitzy and huge chandeliers, but the staff were friendly. The guides were very good and prepared to change plans when we wanted to. Only issue was the train to and from Bukhara, on the way there we were in economy, on the way back in business class (why this difference?), also we were separated with one of us several coaches behind. But all in all a very successful trip.

We’re a couple from NZ who found Steppes Travel on Google. From the start Jim Davis and his team took the time and care to consider our expectations. A comprehensive mobile phone app was provided once our itinerary was finalised, which provided everything we needed and more.
Our guides at each stop were excellent as were our drivers, particularly one who was with us most of our journey, he was a very good driver, taking us over long distances, and was very considerate and caring.
We thought the itinerary Steppes Travel had set for us was what we had requested and appropriate.
Our time In Uzbekistan was thoroughly enjoyable and informative - we loved it.
