Luckily as we follow Isle of Man news…
Luckily as we follow Isle of Man news as we have family there, we knew Manxman repairs meant it wasn’t now sailing until November. Steam Packet hadn’t updated their website so you’re still booking for a boat that can’t sail so it’s advertising cabins. There are no cabins now on the stand in vessel Ben My Chree. In order to find availability for the pet lounge we had to phone up Steam Packet, as it was quicker than searching online. However, then got told it’s cheaper to book online. Armed with the available pet lounge dates we then booked online still on Manxman but knowing they would have to be transferred across to the Ben. How complicated did this need to be? Why not update the website as soon as it was published Manxman would be out of action? It’s not a cheap crossing and this mismatched system is unacceptable.

We understand how frustrating it is when travel plans become unnecessarily complicated, especially when trying to secure specific accommodations like a pet lounge. We do have a designated Manxman update page on our website which we do keep updated, and can only apologise that this is not clear in the booking process. Your feedback is invaluable as we continue to work on improving the customer experience.

It did not take long to make the booking, once I had fathomed out the various options presented (which were rather confusing)

Sailing experience fine. Booking experience gave to much choice
It was mostly ok apart from the booking experience gave me other companies to book through, at different prices. How does that work? I was lucky to find my favourite company, The Steam Packet Company, famous for it's original boat name,
Maid of Wood.

Some fields are a bit clunky
Website is a bit clunky, some drop-downs like date fields etc could be improved.
Other than that, I’m used to the site. It’s the prices that are the problem.

Hassle free checking in and also getting off the ferry. Very straightforward and a bus to take people to Lime street or Liverpool One when you walk out the door at Liverpool is very convenient,

Great booking experience
Easy to book. Simple straightforward easy to navigate website, mostly choosing predetermined options. Price is reasonable too. Confirmed by email - hopefully all goes well when I board..?!

Pretty terrible overnight sailing
Pretty terrible overnight sailing. Nowhere to lie down and sleep even on an empty boat as all seating had armrests you can’t take down. People sleeping on the floor like a third world train journey. Lights left on all night so you couldn’t sleep properly either. No option to have a cabin. All in all a fairly terrible experience I won’t be repeating.

It's a simple process to book with the Steam Packet
The booking process is easily navigated on a mobile device. Any extras required, such as the premium lounge, are easily identified, along with the applicable prices. Using an iPhone the booking process was completed swiftly, and payment arrangements are clear and easily addressed.
