Yesterday we sold our Motorhome
Yesterday we sold our Motorhome, purchased 5 years ago from Salop and whilst reflecting on our good memories of holidays, I started to reminisce about our interceptions with Salop. The motor home came with a dealer and expended “silver warranty” and was nicely presented when we collected it. First night was spent on their site. The gas supply didn’t work, something we would have picked up at handover if they’d done that properly so first repair within 2 hours of collection. Over the next two years it seemed I was in Staffordshire every other weekend. Wiring harness failed (not covered), front tyre wouldn’t stay inflated (not covered), reversing camera failed and main roof vent wouldn’t open (repaired and replaced). You expect these things to happen with second hand purchases so its not so much the issues its how the seller deals with you to rectify issues. The tyre inflation issue was the start of a long saga that Salop refused to accept was a fault from day one of purchase. As they stated that wheels and tyres were excluded from warranty cover, I had to fight to get them to accept that the alloy wheels were so corroded internally that they were dangerous. Salops response was to have them refurbished with a powder coating that just disguised the issue which returned within months. In the end, due to the need to ensure safety in use, we paid £800 to replace the wheels. Later that year the new roof vent started to leak water and upon investigation I found that the Salop aftersales technicians had torn the roof when doing the replacement and the £400 spent on the wiring harness replacement was unnecessary as a trusted garage (not the overhyped garage used by Salop) identified a rain water draining failure as the cause of the electrical issues that plagued us in the early days. In my attempted to get these issues addressed I dealt with the Sales Director. As the repairs and revisits didn’t fix the issues, he just took to ignoring my calls and emails. I wont give them my business again but the 5 start reviewers are right. They do make nice cakes and coffees …..
You Couldn’t Make It Up
We purchased a brand new Swift Kon-Tiki, at PDI there were paint chips on the cab and the kitchen sink leaked out onto the floor as it was demonstrated. Rear sliding underside drawers were loose - fixing nuts had not been tightened. One of the 2 rear cameras didn’t work and there was a gap in bedroom trim (cut too short) with wires visible, wrong wi-fi unit fitted - we should have walked at this point! We stayed on the adjacent campsite and Salop had a day and a half to get the vehicle in a useable condition. Over the following few days as we used it, the second and also the repaired rear cameras failed, the whole front roof fairing started to come away, there was a gap in the roof sealant and we found bolts for the bed in a bag taped to the frame! An internal skylight frame came loose - an atrocious standard of manufacture. The dealer offered to work with us as the vehicle was sent back to Swift, we opted for a refund instead. The dealer blamed ‘problems at Swift’, but the Salop PDI and response(s) were sadly lacking. We subsequently purchased an alternative vehicle from another dealer and our faith is restored. Happy to provide photographs / video to support the above.

Just purchased a new Coachman from Salop Leisure.
George has kept in contact every step of the way .
A change to our collection date was quickly organised when I was no longer able to make the original date and enabled us to add another night to our break at love to stay.
One small issue with the caravan was sorted quickly and an engineer was with us in less than an hour and the faulty part quickly ordered. Couldn’t ask for more!
Thanks George for everything you have been amazing x
Would be 0 out of 5 if I could
After sales department very unhelpful and attitude from staff not what I expected, would not recommend anymore
Ordered a brand new caravan
Ordered a brand new caravan, not good communication from the Shrewsbury Branch, we had better updates from our caravan park on when it would be delivered.
Felt fobbed off, everything put down to Covid, plus supply chain.
Three major issues with the caravan when it arrived.
We did not feel valued considering how much money we had paid out,
We have had 3 caravans off them over…
We have had 3 caravans off them over the last 6 yrs and must say we have always been treated like royalty. Most of the staff know us not in a bad way! All the sales staff are fantastic and Paul cannot do enough to help.
Service department is fantastic also
Any problems we have had even the minor issues has been sorted quick and they have gone to the storage yard and got the caravan to take to the workshop.
Storage is probably the best and safest around
Sian who is on reception most days is fantastic also always happy to help.
The accessories shop is always stocked with everything you could need. The staff in the shop also do there best to help in anyway they can
We will be using salop for many years to come and will not hesitate on getting our next caravan from them
Fantastic Experience start to finish
Fantastic Experience from start to finish. Sian was excellent and super helpful from the start. Initially we enquired about storage for 2 caravans and Sian was really informative and helpful. We later returned to confirm that we would like to go ahead and the professionalism was second to none. Jean also made the experience extra special with her person-ability and making our family feel so welcome. Pitches excellent. Price extremely reasonable. Caravan wash outstanding. Security A1. Would 100% recommend. Thank you Salop Leisure team.
Love Coffee - First class
I had an excellent lunch with my mother for Mother's Day which was made by the positive Love Coffee team. They really went above and beyond even though they were short of a few staff that day.

We have used Salop Leisure for caravan storage for the last 2 years. Storage facilities are excellent.
The accessories shop is well stocked, The cafe is lovely for a coffee and cake, and we have found the staff always pleasant.
Sian in particular who dealt with us regards the storage was very helpful and informative.
When we’re ready to upgrade we shall be there.
Went to salop leisure with my elderly…
Went to salop leisure with my elderly farther he found a caravan he liked and applied for finance he was told the next day he would get a decision and they would call they never did he called them up a day later and was promised that someone would call back they never did he called again 3 times the next day managed to speak to the sales man who originally helped make the application he said sorry there was some miscommunication and that my father was refused the finance he didn't give him a chance to even speak just hung up the phone if he had just given 1 more minute of his time instead of being so rude he would have explained my father had got a loan from the bank instead but they lost our business very poor customer service
Looking for a holiday home? Go somewhere else
One of the worst companies I've had the misfortune to deal with. I deeply regret ever trying to give them my order. Whilst I appreciate that supply issues are causing delays to holiday home production, I didn't appreciate being fobbed-off and lied to about the reason mine was going to face a further 6-month delay. The final straw being the put-up-or-shutup attitude from the area manager. The only competent employee I dealt with was the person who issued the refund of my deposit. My advice would be to take your business elsewhere.
Very poor after sales service
Very poor after sales service, very keen to take your money, then months of problems and waiting. Don’t spend your money here.
Salop Leisure Storage. Rip Off
So I have my van in storage at Salop Leisure. The cost is astronomical but claims Platinum service, so bit the bullet. It initially cost around £550 for the year, but over the past 2 years the price has increased to nearly £800. We (collective we) were told this recent increase was due to new security features (funding security staff parked outside the facility day/night) which we now had to pay for as there had been suspicious vehicles seen, even thoug hit is tag entry/exit, (that was 8 months ago). New entry system put in place (again that was part of the cost increase) but is pants, takes 10 - 15 mins to get in without a van in tow and not yet full season, so when I asked a question 2 months ago no answer. Security is still there even with the new system, so not sure if it is Platinum status but costs keep going up. Shocking, not bothered don't care, take you money and have a Bahamas break Directors of SL..... we will keep being asked to pay more. Would give zero star but you can't.
If you can, go elsewhere
Behind the glossy exterior of their flashy showground at Emstry, lies a team of unprofessionals ever ready to take your hard-earned cash and give you nothing but the lowest standards in customer service. They make back street second hand car dealers look like Fortnum & Masons.
Salop Leisure are too big. They know they've got little to no competition and so you have little to no choice to use them. It's a case of like it or lump it. Accept their substandard sales and aftersales service, or you go without.
The caravan manufacturers are on their knees. Hit by the triple whammy of COVID, supply chain issues and staff shortages exasperated by Brexit. Demand is through the roof and the manufacturers have bulging order books, no hope of expanding their production facilities, and struggling for cash flow. Customers are waiting an eternity for their orders. Salop Leisure don't care. Their staff are lacking in basic customer service skills and devoid of empathy it seems. They just blame the manufacturers, or COVID, or anything. They don't say sorry, they don't even attempt to show they understand or care how disappointed, upset or stressed you are. Don't like it? Tough. Not their problem.
If you are lucky enough to be able purchase elsewhere, do.
Awful
Awful. Terrible company In 2015 I purchased a Willerby skyline holiday home from Salop Leisure within the first year all of the hinges to the doors outside went rusty. The fridge freezer stopped working .the microwave blew up the stainless steel splashback in the kitchen went rusty ,the cooker went rusty ,the cooker extractor fan went rusty . the wardrobe door fell off ,the bathroom hand wash basin had not been sealed ,the shower had not been sealed the sofa seat sank after a few years of years of complaining they eventually replaced the sofa (I was told what can I expect from a cheap sofa ?? Then the sofa that they replaced was even worse This holiday home cost us a lot of money it wasn’t cheap .we have had 4 faulty focus fridge freezers freezers
1 faulty microwave
I am still
Waiting for my replacement stainless steel splashback after 5 years and last December they fitted a cooker extractor that didn’t fit but said this will tide you over until after Christmas and we will put a new one in .
They never put a new one in and now I am being told that as the caravan is old 5 years there are extractor fans that can fit anymore ??
I am at a loss. Now of what to do all of this is so distressing to me I kept on and on over the years to Salop
I will never ever buy a Willerby caravan again I will never buy from Salop
I have had to stuff the extractor fan with towels to stop the wind coming through
After 3 weeks still waiting for the…
After 3 weeks still waiting for the refund!!!
What a joke ... The excuse first was that the papers were forgotten, ok it happens... Then since the 23 of September that my refund is still there and not in my bank. I do not know what else to do now. Should I go there and extract goods on the same value? For an alleged reliable business ????? Seriously ?????
We have dealt with Salop Leisure for…
We have dealt with Salop Leisure for several years. We bought both our caravans and awning ect: from them, had all the servicing done on the caravans by them; but when we bought the last caravan from them a Swift, we became increasingly dissatisfied. The build quality of the Swift is poor and problems (which were really troubling) were not rectified. The final straw was when we booked our service after covid lockdown, we were told we were not booked in on arrival and called liars, then told we were late in the year and Swift didn't recognise covid or lockdown (even though Salop was closed).
Cosford Caravans (Salop Leisure) excellent service
This review is referring to Cosford Caravans, part of the Salop Leisure Group.
I bought a 2018 Bailey Valencia S4 privately earlier this year. As many caravan owners will know that, unlike cars, caravans normally have to have warranty work carried out by the supplying dealer. However, this was a problem as the 1st owners bought it from a dealer who is 150 miles away from me. As Cosford is my local Bailey dealer I decided to contact them (with a little trepidation given many peoples negativity on internet forums about other dealers!) as I needed some relatively minor warranty work carrying out. Chris, the service manager, could not have been more helpful! We went through my issues in detail and booked the van in for the work plus to be fair to them, we decided to have it's annual service carried out and the Alde heating fluid changed by them at the same time. Of course, the lockdown came along and the appointment was cancelled with the agreement that they would contact us as soon as they could take bookings again. This was done immediately and the van was booked in for immediate after the lifting of the lockdown.
I duly took the van in and almost all the work required was carried out with the exception of the failure of the lighting master switch. I was contacted immediately and Chris told me that the problem appeared to be the printed circuit board which they had ordered but would be a few days being delivered. To cut a long story short the PCB didn't sort the problem. The technician did a very thorough job of tracing the problem to a wiring bodge behind the radio that had been carried out probably by the supplying dealer. Again the communication was amazing and I went and took a look at the problem for myself. Both Chris and the technician were superb taking time to show me exactly what the problem was.
The bottom line is that, yes, the hourly rate us a little more than an approved service agent or mobile but the professionalism and quality of the work far outweighs the marginal extra cost.
A very big thanks to Chris and the service team at Cosford Caravans. You now have a committed regular customer.
Very poor after sales
So, i spend £33500 on a brand new static caravan and i must say i am shocked at the overall customer service. I have a list of fixes that are still outstanding 2mths down the line, the list was given to Salop 2 months ago and each time i chase, they miss a number off my original call and the 1st engineers report. The pull out sofa is extremely uncomfortable due to there been a solid part under the cushions 12" long each side and then the pull out bed starts and you sink down. I called Salop and they tell me i have to pay for a board to go across, which they confirm it would be uncomfortable. So i ask, why do they sell like this and then expect more money. I also called Willerby and they also said the way i explained it, that this too would be uncomfortable and i needed to call dealership to order a board. Please be aware of this issue as i do not think it will be good for anybody and remember not to sit and wait for Salop, you need to keep chasing, because they won't update you.
very poor service
very poor service, ordered some parts for our caravan on 30th June - still awaiting parts on 18th July after paying for delivery. parts were ordered on a Sunday - went back the following day @ 17:00 to check and was informed i was on their 'to do' list for that day ( as they were getting ready to shut up for the night ), partner called them today to be told the part is being couriered special delivery from Hull ( nearly 3 weeks from Hull when it was in stock ) some staff very helpful, other staff not so helpful. i doubt i will use them in future as the people in front of me had issues - should have read the signs and gone elsewhere
