Poor practice

I called the office this morning at 10.30, my MOT had run out 5 days ago and I didn't realise!!! Spoke to Charlotte and she had me booked in for 1pm. Every time I deal with Charlotte, she is just amazing!!! She is so friendly, helpful and a credit to you. The man that MOTed my car wad amazing too, told me what advisorys it had and they will check and sort them out when it goes in for a service next month. Can't not fault them.

Needed to get MOT and Service. I had not realised the MOT had run out. I have serious health issues so need the car for appointments etc.
Adrian sorted everything out for me in an efficient and caring manner on the same day.
Adrian and the service team at Crosshands are second to none. Thank you very much. Great job.

Booked in for a service and the women on the phone was very professional and made everything nice and simple, believe I dealt with Emily. When I came in for the service the two young lady’s on the desk were very friendly and welcoming. The service was completed on time as I was told. Overall aftersales were very easy & friendly to deal with. Look forward to booking in again.

Fantastic customer service from the two girls at the front desk (Emily and Charlotte) I asked for their names so I could write a review and mention them specifically. Came in with a query about a car and I cannot fault them at all! Gave me advice and as much information as possible! Highly recommend to anyone!

Bought a Volkswagen Troc from them, went out on a test drive in it completely fine only went up and down the street bought the car the same day on finance within 2 hours I brought it back because it was making a rattle noise and the car sales person there (I think the name was Chris) test drive it and said he could hear the rattle noise he said “drive it 20 miles as it’s been sat awhile and just had a service” so I drove about 80 miles over the next 6 days and the noise just got worse so I took it back to them saying I wanted a refund as it’s faulty so they diagnosed the vehicle and test drove it themselves said the diagnosis came back all clear so my finance company couldn’t give me any refund but it was 2 different people this time who tested the vehicle as the previous sales person wasn’t there (Chris I think) and they both said they couldn’t hear anything even though there employee said they could the week before so I was stuck with a car on finance that I didn’t want because of that noise and they refused to take it back telling me I’m lying so I backed out of the finance agreement and they bought the car back of me for £1,000 less they apparently didn’t know the guys name that heard the rattle noise to contact him about it when I took it back but when they bought the car back of me they somehow remembered the guys name just before I left so I left it at that took a £1000 loss but least I don’t have a faulty car that would cost more money in the long run.

Do not buy a car from Ron Skinner Tredegar! I purchased a car middle of April 2024, and the same day noticed the air con button wouldn’t work. They got me booked in for the following week for repair, which I was really impressed with. A week later, they had my car for 30 minutes and “fixed” the air con.

A few weeks later, I turned it on and the fans were not blowing cold air but warm, and the air con was making this horrible whistling sound.

I tried time and time again to get my car booked in for a repair. I tried for weeks to get it booked in and they would not listen or understand I work a 9-5 Monday to Friday. I swear they expected me to be unemployed so I could drop the car to them whenever they saw fit.

Tredegar is about a 40 minute drive from me, and I’ve spent a fortune on petrol going back and forth over the last month and a half. Despite reassurance from the workshop manager, Charlotte, that I would be compensated for the travel, that never happened!

I finally got it booked in at May half term and was told they’d need my car for 2 days to repair it. I gave them 3 days, and spoke with them and they said “we haven’t even started working on it yet”.

They then called me told me my car was ready to collect, and they needed the courtesy car back that very same evening. Literally expected me to drop everything there and then for them to return their courtesy car.

Also worth noting, when I collected the courtesy car, I spoke with Emily in the workshop who was sat on her phone whilst she was talking to me, and had absolutely no idea what courtesy car I was supposed to be collecting. It was only when I politely asked to “come and show me which car I need to take” she finally stood up and came to help.

Emily has absolutely 0 customer service skills and is extremely rude to deal with, Charlotte is lovely although she promises things she clearly can’t keep. Avoid Ron Skinner Tredegar at all times. I have no idea if they read these reviews, but if I’ve stopped one person from buying there, I’ve done my job.

I had a 24 year old ford Mondeo which had a weld on a water hose. I could not get a another part because fords stopped doing parts for MK1 Mondeo. So I nipped out to Ron Skinner at neyland thinking any minute that hose could go it was already dripping so I knew I hadn't long . Once there we helped with what was available and ready to go . I picked a lovely Toyota argo. They were so helpful and the whole process was so easy I was so grateful to be on the road again.

Would give zero if possible bought car off them last year DRL meant to have 100,000 hours usage already failed took them more than 6 months to acknowledge it and refuse to change thanless I pay them nearly 800 quid people say about trade centre these cowboys are worse

Been buying Cars from Ron Skinner in Tredegar for over 35 years ,
Their after sales is second to none ,
No hard pressure from the sales team ..
Always a pleasure in buying a car and any problems it's sorted within days..

Where to start? Bought a Peugeot 3008 from Cardiff in February and was promised the scratches/chips on the doors and bumper would be sorted. They were not. The car also had a chipped windscreen and the stop/start does not work. Took the car back and had it back a week later pretty much in the same state. Had it back again today and they have only sorted the bumper and windscreen. The stop/start still doesn't work and the doors look awful after being 'touched up.' This is the third car I've bought from Ron Skinner and it will definitely be the last. I made it very clear we would only be interested in the car if the body work was sorted and, in Sales Manager Nigel's words, they have over promised and under delivered but absolutely will not do anything about the doors now.

Where do I start???? We purchased the car in May 2023, super glad I left this til April 2024. The car had some issues upon purchase, but these issues were booked in for the works to be completed. Unfortunately we were unable to keep this appointment but at the end of the day this was held against us.

In early October, 2023 the vehicle went wrong for the 1st time. We had the dreaded countdown to zero miles until restart. On this occasion the dealership were happy to help, replaced the Nox sensor as well as the battery, but neglected to replace the passenger rear interior handle surround. (On order October 2023). (Remember that)!!!! Unfortunately the car had to be returned to the dealer less than a week later, same issue (coundown to zer) however not linked according to the dealer on this occasion, despite the dealership having to add 9 litres of adblue on the previous visit. The finance company, after the second issue asked if we wanted to reject the vehicle. At this point we chose to peruse this option!!!!!!! Advice; Don’t!!!!! The finance company ruled against us, as did the financial ombudsman further down the line. This was because of a new fault (a pin hole in the adblue pipe that hadn’t been picked up previously, remember the additional 9 litres of adblue in the previous visit??? (It’s a new fault)!!!!!!!! Anyway that was October 2023, it’s now April 2024.

I collected the vehicle today, swallowing my pride, however my pride was forced down my throat. I’d love to add photos, but I can’t!!!! The car was half covered in mould, seatbelts, mats, boot, partial shelf, along with a print out of honest Johns MPG. (This was part of the initial complaint (6 months ago)).

The only positive from today was that I didn’t collect the car with my children (both of whom are severely asthmatic)!!!!

I bought a 2013 BMW in 2017. The transaction was easy and pleasant. I walked up to the car and asked a passing member of staff for the keys. He came back with the keys and said, "Give me a shout if you need anything. There was no pressure to buy the car at all. I did have some a/c issues that were never really fixed, but they did refill the gas every time. Problem solved it self then 9 months later.

Bought the car a year ago for the first 3 months they were prety good with their warranty well that is what i thought. I did purchased an extra 3 year warranty.I had major problems with the car ever since on one occasion they had the car for 2 months and still could not diagnose the problem (If i can not diagnose it i can not fix it) that is what they said. Asked them to give back 2 months worth of warranty they have refused to do so. Not recommended at all....
The girls are friendly and helpful at the reception.

They explained everything to me, I was interested in 2 different vehicles and Steven the sales person explained everything to me, allowed me to take my time to look at both cars before I made my decision. excellent service from start to finish and a quality car purchased. After a 90 minutes of being harassed and followed around Trade Centre Wales, I remembered my late father's advice to always go to Ron Skinner and sons. I only popped in to browse, but found my ideal car within 10 minutes of arriving. I love the fact that the sales team leave you to have a good look at a car (which are nearly all unlocked). On the day I went they were a bit short staffed, but Jamie was very helpful and I only had to wait 5 minutes before going on a test drive. No big sales pitch required, as the quality of the cars does the talking.
All the staff are very friendly and helpful and I am thrilled with my new car. I would definitely recommend this firm.

Purchased my car (Skoda karoq) on 19/01/24. This model has a fantastic review in "Parkers", and looking through the stock at Skinners there were several to choose from. From initial enquiry to the purchase of the vehicle the knowledgeable, professional and polite staff in all departments made the purchase a pleasing experience. Have purchased cars from Skinners for over 30yrs, always had quality cars at realistic prices. Will always recommend to others.
