Problems in multiple areas
I've recently had a number of disappointments with Orrstown Bank. It seems to have dropped in quality vs Peoples Bank which I had used for many years before they merged. 1) Their check reading software used for remote depositing rejects checks often where the photo of both sides of the check is clear with good lighting, no glare nor shadows, and filled out well, clearly, and properly signed and noted on the back. Retaking the photos sometimes results in a check being accepted even when there is no visible difference between the photos. Other times it becomes necessary to go to the bank or deposit checks at an ATM because the check, which is fine, isn't accepted via the mobile app after several time wasting attempts. 2) I have had my electric utility bills 3 different utility accounts) automatically paid via the utility automatically electronically taking the payment from a couple different Bank checking accounts. Early in 2026, Orrstown Bank blocked one of those payments from processing which had been processing monthly without any changes for a long time prior. There was many times the necessary funds in the account, so there was no shortage. The Bank customer support told me that they didn't show anything was rejected, but the Utility supplied evidence that it was rejected by the bank. It caused me a huge waste of time to attempt to get it to work again and now I've had to discontinue having any payments made that way because of little trust that the bank will process them correctly. 3) I used to have automatic overdraft protection that would pull funds from another account if I made an error and there was a shortage. Then that happened once, but the bank didn't automatically cover it. Instead, they bounced it and told me that it wouldn't kick-in in that particular instance, which didn't make any sense. I suppose it's time to find a better bank.
