I HAVE AN ISSUE WITH HOW IT IS ALLOWED FOR A CUSTOMER TO GET A CARD, PUT A PIN CODE, AND NOT BE ABLE TO USE THE CARD. WHY IS IT ALLOWED FOR A CUSTOMER WITHOUT ID TO GET A CARD AND MAKE A PIN CODE AND STILL NOT BE ABLE TO USE IT? NOW, DUE TO THE LACK OF INFORMATION GIVEN BY THE CARD ISSUER, THIS CUSTOMER MUST NOW WAIT 20 DAYS TO RECEIVE A CHECK IN WHICH SHE MAY BE ABLE TO CASH DUE TO LACK OF VALID IDENTIFICATION. SHE SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO PUT ANY MONEY ON THIS CARD DUE TO HER NOT BEING ASKED FOR VALID IDENTIFICATION AT PURCHASE. THE BUSINESSES THAT SELL THIS CARD NEED TO BE MORE INFORMED ON NETSPEND'S POLICIES AND PROCEDURES TO ENSURE THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN TO ANYONE ELSE. IF THIS WERE TO CONTINUE, THEN THEY SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO SELL YOUR PRODUCT.

The pros are getting my direct deposit 3 days before a paper check. And being able to overdraft for a $20 fee.
After over TEN years with the company the BIG Cons: I am unable to add my 2 other bank debit cards in order to do transfers. I was able to add a bank account. But every time I try to transfer funds from Netspend which has $849 availabe, an INSFFICIENT FUNDS pop up blocks my efforts!! I called customer service and was assured that this would be remedied within 15 minutes. Lies!

I checked one start only because I couldn't move forward with Zero stars. This is the worst debit card in the world. I received this card as a Christmas gift and attempted several times to activate it, needless to say I was not able activate successfully. When I did speak to someone, they requested all type of personal information. Which is extreme for a debit card to get activated. Finally, on my last attempted I was told that they card could not be used because inactivation fees had been taken out of the card because I did not use the card. The reason I did not use the card was because I could never get it activated. I would never personally use Netspend and I will deter anyone from purchasing a debit card from this company. When I finally, spoke to a "Supervisor," he tried to send me a card with my name that I can load. I told him that I was not looking to receive a card or get any type of account sent up from Netspend. Basically, this company is stealing money from consumers and apparently, they are getting away with this type of business behavior.

Very disappointing. For the past several days I’ve been unable to do a transfer from my debit card to my Netspend account. While bank transfers still work, it takes literal days. I called support. They were pointless. They said it should work and there “might be technical issues”. I uninstalled the app, reset my account, etc. Still doesn’t work. I’m going to try Chime instead- at least they have actual support.
Update as of 11/12: I still cannot add money, Netspend still hasn’t reached out. So I’m planning to spend my balance down and cancel my account. I would not recommend that you order one of these cards- you will be sorely disappointed.

Never received my bonus even though I did the DD requirements. Tried calling was on hold for 30+ minutes. Charging a bank fee in 2025 is a little crazy too.
Edit: They reached out and truly showed that they care. Amazing customer service.

I have had netspend for 8 years and never had a problem until today they RANDOMLY and without warning closed my account, locked me out of my mobile app, and told me because my account was high risk or fraud, like WHAT!? And told me that my funds would have to be mailed to me which could take 10-15 business days…

Don't ever buy a netspend card in a store...they won't give you access to your money.
I bought a card September 8 and I still can't use the card.

Customer service is pretty bad. And the system makes it so complicated to activate the card so you can have full access to it. After many struggles and very mad email they finally did it but I lost count how many times I had to contact them.
This shouldn't be this hard.

Good morning netspend. It would be 5 stars but your fees are awful to high and to many. You have a limit on withdrawal and have to keep repeating it each time with another fee. If it wasn’t for me getting me receiving my check 5 days prior to the 1st each month i would stay with my regular bank. Also you all give the fees with monthly fees on top of it. AWFUL TIMES ARE HARD YOU ALL MIGHT GET A DECREASE IN NEW MEMBERS OR PEOPLE WILLING TO DEAL WITH NOT GETTING IT 5 DAYS ETC WILL DEAL WITH THE BANKS BECAUSE THEY ARE OFFERING UP TO 3 DAYS OR SOONER. OTHERWISE YOUR OK

Do not buy this card. They charged a $5.95 fee for inactivity when I had it less than 60 days and charged $2 fee when I used at a restaurant. Contacted customer service and they would not help me. Definitely do not recommend this card after this experience.

Someone set up an account with my email address so I keep getting emails. I tried to reset password so I could delete and got nothing. Contacted their customer service and was told they couldn't help unless I called them. I just advised them (from my email address) that someone was fraudulently using my details. Unsure how much security there is with them but seemingly pretty easy to set up using someone else's details...

Well this will be my second time writing a review for NetSpend. My biggest issue is they don't return your money on fraudulent activity. I had almost $800 in charges made to my account some time back. I followed the steps according to how they wanted it done and even went the my local police and obtained a report on the matter, I was found at fault because I accidentally marked charges that were mine so I never received my money and whomever made the charges got away free and clear. They will not protect your money. Please don't use NetSpend. I regret it every day.

It takes too long to spend your money you uploaded. I had to have a good amount of patience. I had to pay something and waited 2 days just to pay. I don't like the new system. mail and send documents in.
